Are Wrist Tattoos Gay?

Q. I plan on getting 2 tattoos before I go back to college, I want the Libra sign in black on the underside of my right wrist and the characters for rabbit on the other wrist in red.

Being a guy is it gay, getting wrist tattoos?

A. GAY?

Are you kidding me? I know I'm a woman but I have both my inner wrists tattooed and know of LOTS of men with them, including guys with sleeves down to their wrists. I know one guy who just did flames on his wrists, all the way around. They looked like they were flaming up his arm, looked very awesome.

So no, not gay. Your choice of tattoo design might not be appropriate for the wrists but who am I to judge, lol.

Any women professionals have a wrist tattoo?
Q. I want a wrist tattoo.. but I'm worried about my job. I work in a corporate environment, so I was thinking I could just wear a suit jacket/blazer every day and if it was hot out, I could always take it off at lunch..

Does anyone else have this problem? Do you wear long sleeves everyday? Is it annoying that you can't wear short sleeves ever to work?? Thanks!!!

A. i have tattoos on both of my wrist. im in nursing school right now, and every time i do my clinicals, i have to wear a long sleeve shirt. its SUPER annoying. the nursing facilities get super hot, and it doesn't make it any better that im running around patient to patient non stop...i end up getting really over heated and sweaty. i work at ipower web hosting right now, and they dont mind my tattoos, so i don't have to wear long sleeves at work. thank god for that one becuase this places a/c sucks!

take it from me that it gets annoying FAST. i live in Arizona and it gets to 115+ degrees in the summer. blazers and long sleeves shirts arnt that comfortable anyways. in the summer time it feels better to wear a short sleeve or sleeveless shirt. even if you are in the a/c.

i hope that was the answer you were looking for. if you really want to get a tattoo, get it on your shoulder or your hips? the wrist are really indiscreet.

Would you get an anal tattoo?

Q. I can't really believe this is the next "big" thing.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/14/anal-anus-tattoos-next-big-thing-woman_n_1775413.html?utm_hp_ref=weird-news

A. Having had rectal/anal surgery, and knowing that afterwards it hurts like bloody hell and recovery takes a LONG time -- there is no way, but NO WAY I'd even consider having an anal tattoo!

HELP! BAD EYEBROW TATTOO, COURT?, lawsuit?
Q. I WANT TO DO A LAWSUIT FOR BAD EYEBROW TATTOO?
I WANT TO DO A LAWSUIT AGAINST MY COSMETIC TATTOO SALON / TECH
I want to be reimbursed the cost of the Tattoo $120 plus the cost of facial laser tattoo removal $2500
My permanent eyebrow tattoo was done March 15, 2012. I have sparce brows. I am now stuck with tattoo eyebrows that are 1) colored jet black; 2) the shape of a 'line' 3) and placed significantly above my own natural brow line. The THREE 3 things you NEED to get right with an eyebrow tattoo: 1) color 2) shape 3) location ... are now visually damaged.
I asked her how we are going to fix this problem and she said she would CHARGE me to touch up and/or blend a lighter color in the black tattoo and/or put a color erase liquid. As I became more upset, she said she would give me a discount!!??!! Can you believe this! This is NOT right or fair.
I am in my mid 40's and in a very professional field of work. I have never ever had a tattoo ever, there are No other tattoos on my body. The Hmong cosmetic tattoo tech lady is the owner of the salon/ permanent make-up business. This woman who came so highly recommended blatantly failed to listen to what I wanted. I specifically told her that I wanted a very natural brow. I then wiped off my own brow make up, right in front of her, and with my brow pencil in a light brown color, I re-colored my brow to show her exactly what I wanted. I told her several times I wanted a very natural look. I did not want an eyebrow that looked like a 'line' eyebrow. We also talked about my tattoo not looking like a solid geometrical 'line' and I wanted to know the possibility of having little lines or 'hairs' tattooed in my own eyebrow so it would look natural. She said those little hair lines were not possible, but not to worry, it would look very natural. I told her I wanted the color of blond or light brown since my skin color is very white and pale and I have light brown hair. My husband was there as witness to everything and my daughter too. We went through pictures together. She had me sign a paper, and I really dont have any idea what I signed and I didnt ask for a copy, however, I want a copy now! and I dont know if I should just ask her or write a formal letter requesting it.
Before she did her work, she cut all the little hairs off of both my eyebrows with these little scissors. After she did her tattoo work, I looked in the mirror and notice it was the shape of a 'line' that I didnt want. I questioned the shape and she said in English/Hmong accent: 'I saw what you do with pencil for me, but I No like, I do this one for you'. I was stone cold. I asked about the black color.. she said it would scab, fade and in a couple of months be lighter brown. I didnt notice its position until weeks passed and all the little hairs in my 'real' eyebrows started growing back below the tattoo. My tattoo never scabbed. It never peeled it never faded.. the same black color that I walked out the day the tattoo was done is the same color I have 2 months later, BLACK. I questioned her about that and she said that some girls just 'absorb' the color and the color doesnt change and I am just one of 'those' girls. I questioned her professionalism and asked, if this is in fact true , why didnt you do a color test on my skin. So you will know what you are going to get as a result. She laughed and said she couldnt do that to all her clients. (as if it would take up too much time, or something?)
I am an ire mess beside myself. I look RIDICULOUS! Of course my family assures me I look beautiful. My professional colleagues say nothing, not a thing. It pains me to see the pain in their faces when they have to look at me face to face. . I have not shaved or plucked my eyebrows underneath. I feel like I need to grow them out so I can show the woman and/or take pictures for the judge. I dont want a pity wagon! But I do want what is fair. I want to sue for reimbursement of the tattoo and for laser removal. I need information and I dont know where to start. Does anyone know an estimate for eyebrow laser removal? Does anyone know any contract legal grounds for this problem? Thank you everyone who is willing to share with me any information or insight about any aspect of this situation. Absolutely any helpful comments are so very much appreciated! ~Emmy Marx(lol, see I still have a sense of humor! :D )

A. Number one, this was a tattoo artist specializing in cosmetic tattooing, correct? Okay. The ten thousand dollar question... did you sign a contract in which you agreed to accept the work as is? If you did, a judge is going to ask if this is your signature on the form, yes or no. If the answer is yes, you're pretty screwed. If the answer is no, you have a case. Good luck with it. A facial tattoo that's been botched by an amateur is no joke.

Help with coat of arms?

Q. I want to get a tattoo of my coat of arms. My last name is lex and I did a little research but i dont know if it's the wrong coat of arms picture. I really need help so I can get the for sure one. Please help!

A. I have a tattoo, but just one. Mine commemorates a journey of 16,000 miles and two years of service in the Peace Corps. It is a traditional design from the Ibans, the largest tribe in the district where I served. (They were sometimes called "Sea Dayaks".) There is more of a story behind it than "My buddies and I didn't have anything to do . . ."

Somewhere in this vast land of ours is at least one 14-year old who is wishing as hard as she can that she get a tattoo of Justin Bieber. Think about how she will feel in 2021. Think about your tattoo.

Here's what I usually paste when you kids ask about a family coat of arms.

(Crests are the top part of a Coat of Arms.)

Your family coat of arms is carved into the oak above the fireplace in the dining hall of your family's country estate. The next time you go there for the grouse season, go look at it, and take your camera. If you don't have one, you don't have the other; sorry. Your ancestors were like mine, mucking out the pigs while the aristocrats with coats of arms rode by on white horses. (Until they moved to what became the USA. Some of my ancestors saw aristocratic Brits on white horses there, too, but it was over the sights of their rifles, in 1776.)

House of names -
http://www.houseofnames.com
will probably show you a Coat of Arms, with a crest, that was (probably) once issued to someone with the same surname as yours, BUT:

Coats of arms started so knights could tell each other apart when they were buttoned up in their suits of armor. They were given to individuals, not families. If, for instance, every knight named Smith used the same coat of arms, there would be a small army riding around with identical shields. It would be as confusing as a basketball game where both sides wore blue and every player was number 12.

The legitimate children inherit their father's Coat of Arms. They may alter it in a number of ways. See
http://www.college-of-arms.gov.uk/About/12.htm
for more. It gets REALLY complicated with women. See below for some opinions.

That's where the myth of a "Family" Coat of arms comes from. People who sell T-shirts and coffee mugs, however encourage the gullible to believe Coats of Arms are for a surname. (The Irish and Scots have clans, which have badges, which are different.)

Below:

If your surname is Smith and you come from Shropshire, you may find that Sir Albert Smith, Sir Bruce Smith and Sir Charles Smith, all from Shropshire, all had C of A. If you do your research, you may find you descend from Sir Charles. If your last name is Smith, you may descend from exclusively male descendants. Now comes the question - Is using his coat of arms proper? Opinions differ.

Some say it is like demanding "your" room in the ancestral Smith estate in Shropshire, from the current owners - ridiculous and illegal.

Some say it is like wearing a Regimental tie if you didn't serve in that regiment. (Land's End sells those by the thousands to Americans. I would never buy one.)

Some say it is like wearing a Scotch Plaid shirt when you don't belong to that clan. (LL Bean sells tens of thousands of those; I have "Lindsay", myself.)

Some say it is as harmless as wearing a Detroit Tigers baseball cap when you didn't play for the team, or a UC Berkeley T-shirt when you didn't attend the University. (Or an Ohio State one, but as long as you're going to wear a University T-shirt, why not the finest?) (I have a UC Berkeley T-shirt, but I graduated from there.)

So, there's the facts and some opinions about using a "Family" coat of arms. You can make up your own mind, after you do your research.

Maori / Polynesian Tattoo Designs?

Q. i want to know descriptions of specific designs

A. what do u mean by discriptions..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tattoo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_tattoos
Samoa
When the Samoan Islands were first seen by Europeans in 1722 three Dutch ships commanded by Jacob Roggewein visited the eastern island known as Manua. A crew member of one of the ships described the natives in these words, They are friendly in their speech and courteous in their behavior, with no apparent trace of wildness or savagery. They do not paint themselves, as do the natives of some other islands, but on the lower part of the body they wear artfully woven silk tights or knee breeches. They are altogether the most charming and polite natives we have seen in all of the South Seas"

The ships lay at anchor off the islands for several days, but the crews did not venture ashore and didnt even get close enough to the natives to realize that they were not wearing silk leggings, but their legs were completely covered in tattoos.

In Samoa, the tradition of applying tattoo, or tatau, by hand has been unbroken for over two thousand years. Tools and techniques have changed little. The skill is often passed from father to son, each tattoo artist, or tufuga, learning the craft over many years of serving as his father's apprentice. A young artist-in-training often spent hours, and sometimes days, tapping designs into sand or tree bark using a special tattooing comb, or au. Honoring their tradition, Samoan tattoo artists made this tool from sharpened boar's teeth fastened together with a portion of the turtle shell and to a wooden handle.

Traditional Samoan tattooing of the pe'a, body tattoo, is an ordeal that is not lightly undergone. It takes many weeks to complete. The process is very painful and used to be a necessary prerequisite to receiving a matai title; this however is no longer the case. Tattooing was also a very costly procedure.

It was not uncommon for half a dozen boys to be tattooed at the same time, requiring the services of four or more artists. It was not just the men who received tattoos, but the women too; their designs are of a much lighter nature rather than having the large areas of solid dye which are frequently seen in mens tattoos. The tattooing of women was not nearly as ritualized like mens were.

Samoan society has long been defined by rank and title, with chiefs (ali'i) and their assistants, known as talking chiefs (tulafale). The tattooing ceremonies for young chiefs, typically conducted at the time of puberty, were part of their ascendance to a leadership role. The permanent marks left by the tattoo artists would forever celebrate their endurance and dedication to cultural traditions. The pain was extreme and the risk of death by infection was a concern; to back down from tattooing was to risk being labeled a pala'ai or coward. Those who could not endure the pain and abandoned their tattooing were left incomplete, would be forced to wear their mark of shame throughout their life. This would forever bring shame upon their family so it was avoided at all cost.

The Samoan tattooing process used a number of tools which remained almost unchanged since their first use. Autapulu is a wide tattooing comb used to fill in the large dark areas of the tattoo. Ausogi'aso tele is a comb used for making thick lines. Ausogi'aso laititi is a comb used for making thin lines. Aumogo small comb is used for making small marks. Sausau is the mallet is used for striking the combs. It is almost two feet in length and made from the central rib of a coconut palm leaf. Tuluma is the pot used for holding the tattooing combs. Ipulama is the cup used for holding the dye. The dye is made from the soot collected from burnt lama nuts. Tu'I used to grind up the dye. These tools were primarily made out of animal bones to ensure sharpness.

The tattooing process itself would be 5 sessions, in theory. These 5 sessions would be spread out over 10 days in order for the inflammation to subside. The steps are as follows.

I. O le Taga Tapulu (back and small of the back) In the first session the height to which the tattoo will rise is decided (Ano le Tua), this is always such that the top of the design will show above the lavalava. Then the va'a, pula tama and pula tele are outlined and the design filled in.

II. O le Taga Fai'aso (the posterior) The aso fa'aifo are completed around to the abdomen and the 'asolaititi are finished. Next to be added are the saemutu, which vary in number depending upon social status. A matai will have four an orator three and anyone else would have two. Where it meets the 'ivimutu at the anus it is called tafaufile, where it covers the perineum it is called tasele, where it covers the scrotum it is called tafumiti and the area over the penis is called tafito. Needless to say this is very painful.

III. Taga Tapau The lausae, an area of solid tattooing, is added to the thighs beneath the aso e lua.

IV. Taga o Fusi ma Uluma

Who can get a Maori tattoo?
Q. I want to get a Maori tattoo on my shoulder because I love the designs and they seem to have a good meaning from what I've read. Just not sure if its something only certain people are allowed to get because I'm certainly not Maori. Thanks.

A. You can get a Maori tattoo :) My mate got himself a tatt on his calf muscle and he's not Maori either.

Some Maori tattooists use a different style of tamoko for those who are not Maori. It looks Maori but in detail - the designs are slightly different, more contemporary, in contrast with the more traditional designs where a blessing is needed.

Most Maori aim to gain the blessing of their kaumatua (elders of the tribe) before they get their tattoo's done. Also, we must have a or special meanings in which the design of our tamoko represents. Only specific Maori patterns are used in the design to represent either our families, ancestors, culture... We don't just get one because it looks cool and we feel like getting one.

It is sacred to get a Maori facial tattoo however, unless you are fully blessed by the kaumatua and that you deserve to represent a Moko (Facial Tattoo). Only certain Maori woman (especially elderly) are blessed with a Maori moko on their chin.

are sleeve tattoos on women sexy?

Q. im a 22 year old girl getting a 2/3 sleeve done on my arm. i have a full back piece and think its time to extend it out. and i was wondering if men think that a girl with an almost half sleeve would be sexy.....

A. I have a half sleeve and yes, the reactions to it vary with guys. My husband loves it and the rest of my tattoos. Many guys find it powerful but a bit too "alternative" or bad ass. And yes, some find it rather disturbing and a turnoff.

Here's the thing. Ultimately, you are who you are and it sounds like tattoos are a part of that. Wouldn't you rather find a guy that finds that part of you sexy and interesting, than holding back on part of yourself to attract a guy who might make you compromise in other areas as well? Be comfortable in your skin and loved for who you are!

Sleeve Tattoo?
Q. So I already have a tattoo on the top of my foot and on my left shoulder blade. I have really been thinking of getting a half sleeve done on my upper right arm...shoulder to mid bicep area. I really like the idea of getting something graceful and feminine since sleeves can look masculine. I've thought about doing a design with flowers and kind of giving it a graceful tribal effect with different kinds of flowers to represent different things preferably in black and white with maybe small light hints of color. What I would like to know is what people think of women who have sleeve tattoos/problems with jobs/design ideas...I am 20 soon to be 21. I'm not worried about what people will think of me. I am also an art major and want to go into special effects, special make-up effects, animation, etc. I'm going to design it myself and use this as a reference picture http://www.buzzfocus.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/kim-flower-sleeve-04.jpg
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/199/491612220_7ac3b89c17.jpg
I also like this rose tattoo, where I would just use the top part of the rose on my shoulder and then add some smaller flowers and designs from the other link into it. I asked my mom what her favorite kind of flower was and roses were her first answer.

A. I love love love tattoos but I HATE tribal art. My friend did a really amazing half sleeve of a collage of marilyn monroe and other pin up models [she's not a lesbian, she just really admires them] try something along that line. It was so beautiful.

btw, i'm getting a half sleeve too. :]

Realistic tattoos vs. Tribal tattoos?

Q. Well, I want to get my next tattoo in a year or two when I can afford it and I know that I want it to be a horse. My question is which style do you think is more appropriate for an animal tattoo. I currently have two butterflies on my left shoulder. They are more realistic style and very cute. I'm wanting to get a horse on my back and I'm leaning towards having the horse's full body rather than just it's head. I love tribal style tattoos especially since they are simple and it seems to be harder to mess it up than a more realistic version. I'm also nervous about getting a realistic version since looking at other people's tattoos of horses which look for the most part, really bad. I don't know, which would look better? Also, once I decide which style, then I'll start the long process of finding the perfect design. I'm not one of those people who just decides on one in a day. This is why it will be about a year or two before I get it so I can make sure I love the design.

Please, if your going to tell me that tattoos and stuff are bad don't even waist your breath. Why do you people look at the tattoo questions if you don't like them? Serious answers only please.

A. I'm actually a fan of something neo-traditional. Check out the first tattoo at the following link to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

http://www.tattoosdaily.com/horse-tattoo/

If it's just between tribal and realistic, I vote realistic. IMHO, I don't think tribal looks good on women. Having said that, you have to research the artist beforehand, especially for realistic tattoos. If you go in not sure they're going to do a good job, that's a sign you need to do more research. There shouldn't be a doubt in your mind when you sit in the chair. If there aren't any satisfactory artists near you, you'll hopefully be within driving distance of one that is better or within driving distance of a convention that will have good artists. Another thing, don't make the cost of the tattoo a factor in your decision. That extra few hundred dollars won't mean anything in the long-run. Note that a good realistic tattoo from a capable artist will cost a LOT more than a tribal version.

i need "in memory" tattoo ideas please!!?

Q. I would like to get three different tattoos, in memory of 3 people in my life. or one tattoo representing all three of them somehow...
-one loved to tell jokes
-one loved flowers, and was a painter
-the other hunted, rode motorcycle, and had a few tats. (spiderweb, unicorn...im not positive of the others) any ideas would help me SO much! thank you for those able to help me think of something! ANY ideas are welcome and appreciated!!

A. great thoughtful question pure class. the other answer total fool. why do women give the best answers in this section . yet the male ego has nothing but insults and ignorance total disrespect. i am so glad that i have two simple letters in art work. R W . majority of males should understand that these letters stand for RESPECT WOMEN. don't bother with your insults.

what do you think about mothers with tattoos?
Q. is it slutty or unsophisticated for a mother to have a tattoo?
im the mom lol who wants a tattoo but my sister disagrees with me

A. for me, its not appropriate if its too big. maybe a tiny symbol, sign, letter, is okay especially if it's hiding, like on their back, on their wrist or on their ankle..

a lot of women i know of have tattoo that symbolize something in their life. either its a recognition (baby's name), special meaning (chinese symbol) or just to commemorate something in their life (heart, peace or cross)...

long time ago, having a tattoo is a sign that you've been in jail but now these days, its a fashion statement...

Old ladies at funerals & things stare at mine on my ankle.Makes me very uncomfortable but glad I have my tatts. Mine were drawn out of my friends imagination & the patterns were tossed. No other tattoos around like them.Don't get one you'll regret later.Like a freaky skull or something. Enjoy your tatt.

tattoo artists wont tattoo my head, why?

Q. I am 21 want two tattoos on the side of my head. I have asked acouple questions about tattoos and a few people have said artists wont tattoo your head, why not??? I mean its my head and I hear people even get their genitals tattooed, so why would my head be a big deal?????

A. Actually I know that head tattoos, although not that popular are common. Women especially like to tattoo the sides of their skulls. Sometimes they will shave the area to show the tattoos, then they will let the hair grow out again if they feel like it. One of my favorites that I have seen is a woman who has a traditional heart with a banner across it, only it says "spoiled" which I don't like so much, but it is an attractive tattoo and she simply lets her hair down when she doesn't want to show the shaved area because it can only be seen when she wears an updo. Maybe you need to make some phone calls to find the right artist. I myself have never tattooed a persons skull before, but I wouldn't refuse if I was asked, depending on the tattoo of course and whether or not it is offensive or something like that. But, it is a big deal...every tattoo is a big deal, so be sure.

Tattoo pain...a question about it=)?
Q. So I want to get a tattoo in a year or so, and I've had a baby already and went through labor. Which is worse? Getting a tattoo or going through labor? (I went through about...5-6 hours of labor) Do you think if I've gone through that labor it'll be easier to handle tattoo pain? Also, will pain medication (like pills) if you take them before help? Does like reading a book or something help take your mind off of the pain?

Thanks for the heads up!
Im getting one on my rib cage, then on my foot.

A. Oh my goodness, honestly, I always say this to women who come on here worrying about tattoo pain if they've have kids - if you've survived labour, you'll survive anything! The pain can't be compared, it's completely different, but labour is MUCH worse. It's not even on the same scale! Labour makes you want to shoot yourself in the head rather than go through another second of the pain. Tattoos are nothing like that!

I don't think it'll make any difference to how you handle tattoo pain, and I'm not saying that just because you've been through labour you won't be affected by a tattoo. Not the case at all - I've had all of my tattoos since I had my son and I have a really low tolerance and I am a real wimp with some of them, moan right the way through. But I get to the other side and keep going back for more! But my point is that you know, if you have been through labour, there is no way you cannot get through a tattoo! And that's a thought that keeps me going during some of my longer, more painful ones!

As for painkillers, bad idea, it generally doesn't work but it will thin your blood and make you bleed heaps. Don't go there. Never tried reading a book during a tattoo, I'm not sure if you'd be able to concentrate to be honest, but taking an ipod definitely helps. I don't bother with the ones on my arms, they're not so bad, but all the ones I've had on my back I've found quite painful so in some of the worst parts I've stuck the earphones in and it's helped me zone myself out from the pain. Remember to keep breathing too (kinda like in labour ha) - you tense and hold your breath but if you remind yourself to keep taking deep breaths it does help.

But back to the main point - honestly, if you go in expecting the tattoo to hurt anything nearly close to the level of pain labour causes you, you're in for a VERY pleasant surprise! And this is coming from someone who doesn't enjoy the process of getting tattooed at all! Also, you don't mention where you are having the tattoo, but there are some areas of the body which really are a breeze!

Do you think this could work as a tattoo idea?

Q. I want to get a tattoo for both sets of grandparents, and I want it to be one tattoo, not two, to show that they are one and not seperated. For one side, I want to get a sled, for all of the times in their backyard. For the other, a bar stool--they owned and lived over a bar. I want flowers surrounding/as the backdrop. Do you think an artist could find a way to make these two things that don't go together GO TOGETHER in one cohesive piece? I think if they could pull it off it would really be awesome.

A. Many women choose the rainbow toned butterfly. The colors can be placed in many different hues. They can be done in two color sets, three, four, and five or higher. A popular choice is purple, violet, green, light blue, pink, and yellow. If your tattoo artist is good, this tattoo looks great on the skin. The sizes can vary, but I would prefer 3inch by 3inch design. But, the ending choice is yours. They don't look right with 5 colors that small, but two will work for those of you that prefer a smaller tattoo.

Can someone please answer a couple questions about tattoo please?
Q. So before people say anything, I'm not getting the tattoo until I am 18, which is in two months. I been wanting a tattoo for a few years now, even though my parents would kill me if they found out. Anyways I'm first going to show you the tattoo I want so that you can answer my questions.
http://www.tattoobite.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/women-butterfly-tiger-tattoos-designs.jpg
Okay so the first question would be how much money should that cost?
The next one is can the tattoo artist make it just like that, because I have seen other images and I don't like them like I like that one because it looks realistic.
Also, I want to put it on my lower back center. Is that a good spot, and how is that area for tattooing when it comes to pain?
(I don't want the flowers around the butterfly, I just want the Tiger Butterfly).
Thanks for answering my questions. (:
Actually I do want the flowers there I'm just not sure about it because if you look at the picture, the girl's tattoo is slanted and i want mine going straight across my lower back (horizontally). So if you think it would look good going straight across from the wings (one side of the wings to the other) let me know cause I would do that, instead of it going slanted vertically.

A. Without color & light shading at the shop I go to that would be around $150-200, price usually depends on the shop & quality of the artist's work. I can't give a price for color because I have black ink.

The lower back is a large area & shading hurts like a mother. Areas with little fat, or are bone-y like your feet, knees, wrist, etc. usually hurt more than other places. Some people say the opposite, I guess it depends on you.

Like you, I thought over the idea of getting a tattoo for years, to me the pain was worth it.

A talented tattoo artist can make that easily, they can alter it too if you want to make it unique.

is there a band that has covered The Hollies, Long Cool Women in a Black Dress?

Q. Any band will do, but I prefer a "metal" version. I looked on YouTube, but I didn't see anything but lonely guys sitting in their parents basement struggling with a pathetic attempt to portray excellence. If this (a metal version preferably) cover exists could someone please share this information with me, especially if it's something I can access via the web. Thanks
ok Elle, what is the band that covers this song

A. I found this for you, hope this helps:

Phantom, Rocker & Slick released their version on their 1986 album Cover Girl.

Country music singer Clint Black released his version of the song to country radio on 19 February 2008, under the title "Long Cool Woman". Black's version charted on the Hot Country Songs chart at #58.

Another country music singer, T. G. Sheppard covered the song on his 1997 album Nothin' On but the Radio.

Heavy metal rocker Vince Neil released a heavier version of Long Cool Woman, along with other covers and original material, on his third studio album, Tattoos & Tequila on 22 June 2010.

A cappella group Rockapella released a version on their 1995 album Primer.

Tattoos on women? Opinions?

Q. Chest, back, groin, arm, leg tat's.

This is a hudge turn on for me. What is your opinion?

A. I actually don't like tattoos on women at all, and I've noticed people get flamed on these boards for saying that (I have no idea why, I'm just stating my opinion). People act like you're narrow-minded if you don't like tattoos or something - this is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. It's got nothing to do with narrow-mindedness. I literally don't like the aesthetic effect of tattoos on women. It's a purely visual phenomenon for me.

The truth is, tattoos have a masculine look to me. I am really attracted to feminine girls, so a girl with tattoos on her arms, back, legs, etc. immediately becomes less attractive to me than she would be if she didn't have the tattoos. Tattoos on women have the same effect to me as big manly muscles on women - it just isn't attractive to me. I've heard some people say that all tattoos aren't masculine - they say, for example, how can a tattoo of a rose or a flower or something girly be masculine? But they're missing the point - it doesn't matter what the tattoo is. The actual appearance of ink all over someone's skin looks masculine no matter what, even if it's tattoos of roses or rainbows. They just spoil the natural beauty and femininity of women to me.

The beauty of a woman's natural body and natural smooth skin is far more appealing and feminine than one cluttered with ink, regardless of what specific designs the tattoos have. It's a desecration of the holy temple of perfectness that is the natural female body.

What is your opinion about chest tattoos on women?
Q.

A. i think some chest tattoos look pretty on some women. Depending on what it is and the design. I have a beautiful tattoo that symbolizes my native american side as well as my children on my chest, and it is too late for regrets. I get looks from people that like it and some that just get intimidated. Never the less, people will always pass judgment on others when it isn't their place to do so. That is why it is called Art!

A. Lots of women get them. See TATTOO magazine, I've seen many pix of fu dog tats in there, all on women.

Do you think tasteful tattoos will be accepted in High Fashion Society anytime soon?
Q. Guys are already modeling with tattoos but women don't seem to be able to get high end work. What's your opinion on the matter? Tyra picked a few girls with piercings and tattoos (one or the other not both) but neither one of them made it very far. I don't see why everyone who likes tattoo culture should be lumped in with the rebellious divas, especially if they have damask, peacock or other feminine designs.
If you hate tattoos don't get on here like an immature broken record and try to degrade people that don't. People with tattoos are just that, PEOPLE with tattoos. In essence tattoos are a less vain approach to fashion than clothing, but they certainly don't make everyone with them the same.

A. There is still a stigma or double standard. Tattoos are not easily shaped into a high fashion photo shoot. If its a Victorian piece then a tattoo would look weird though a really good photographer would make it work and not accept the industry standards. To me certain tattoos in certain places are trashy but if done right by the right artist they can be very beautiful.

Fiction Books that take place in New York City?

Q. I want a fiction book that takes place in New York City. I looked over the internet a little but didnt find too much of my interest. Here is what I found( I put the summary so you can see what type of book I am looking for):

Candace Bushnell-4 Blondes
Summary: Come to the playgrounds of Manhattans powerful and beautiful. Get an insiders look at the romantic intrigues, liaisons, and betrayals among the elite. This novel chronicles the lives of four beautiful womena model, a columnist, a socialite, and a writeras they face turning points in which each must choose between her passions.

J.M Mcdonell-Half Crazy
Summary:Miranda, a beautiful blond from Arkansas, moves into a New York "garden" (a big city euphemism for basement) apartment with an unfinished dirt floor. It's like a bad joke: she has come to make it big as a fashion model. As she moves in with her dog, Pete, she meets upstairs neighbor David, who's gay and writes bad romance novels. She and David fast become good friends. What's more, within days Miranda lands a big fashion job, and within months her face is on the covers of major magazines. But, jealousy and trouble soon follow.

Lauren Henderson-Strawberry Tattoo
Summary:Sam Jones, sculptress and reluctant sleuth, can't resist the opportunity to do Manhattan when she's invited to New York for a group show at a gallery featuring young British artists. New York, loud and brash as Sam herself, welcomes her with open arms and plenty of her favorite margaritas. She's even reunited with Kim, a best friend from childhood who's transformed herself into a quintessential New Yorker, complete with weekly spinning classes and an East Village studio apartment. Despite Sam's promise to stay out of trouble, however, trouble keeps finding her -- one of the gallery's employees is found strangled in Central Park's Strawberry Fields not long after Sam arrives, and the gallery itself has been trashed with graffiti. While Sam's new Manhattan friends pop Prozac and fret about the police investigation, the rest of the young Brits turn up in New York, including the one Sam drunkenly groped in a club not so long ago. Will the exhibition be a success? Will Sam's current boyfriend -- the dashing actor Hugo -- find out about her moment of abandon? And will the details of the strawberry tattoo give away the murderer's identity before Sam herself becomes a target?

It dosn't have to be about crime...I perfer not. want something that has to do with love, life or dreams such as the books above. Also something that dosn't takes Place in the olden days. Some book that takes place in the modern day.

Please tell me the books that you have found and a short summary of it. THANKS!

P.S.I love N.Y! lol.

A. The Clique

Although the characters in the book go to many different places, most of the action in the stories take place in Westchester County, New York. The girls go to school at Octavian Country Day School (OCD), a private all-girls school. Other incidents occur at the Briarwood Academy (OCD's boys school), the Westchester mall, and at various characters' houses.

Massie Block: Massie Block is the alpha (leading) member of her group of friends (known collectively as the "Pretty Committee"). This clique is at the head of the 'food chain' at their prestigious private school, Octavian County Day (OCD). Usually she is the most popular in her group. She is very spoiled and is usually very snobbish, but she has a vulnerable side that shows up when she is under pressure. Massie is known for her wardrobe (designer labels), her quick wit, and her desire to shine above everyone.

Alicia Rivera: Alicia Rivera is Massie's beta (second in command), but her personality doesn't quite shine like Massie's does. Alicia is also a bit kinder in nature than Massie, but tends to be a gossip. Alicia is also known for her wardrobe (heavily influenced by Ralph Lauren), and for her exotic beauty (her mother is an internationally-known Spanish model).

Dylan Marvil: Dylan Marvil is the Pretty Committee's source to the showbiz world, for her mother is famous talk show host for a television show called The Daily Grind. Dylan is bubbly and talkative. Her trademarks are her fiery red hair, her brightly colored style, and her obsession with her weight. (She has tried various fad diets, but does not stick to any of them for very long).

Kristen Gregory: Kristen Gregory is an all-star soccer player at school. However, she is by no means a tomboy. She is a fan of designer clothes, but she cannot afford them (her father, a former rich art dealer, lost his money prior to the series' inception). Kristen is highly intelligent (She is on a scholarship at OCD) and beautiful with her long blond hair. Her trademarks are playing word games, being athletic and avoiding being caught by her parents.

Claire Lyons: Claire Lyons moved from Orlando, Florida to Westchester, New York. Her dad was good friends with Massie's dad in college, so the Blocks allow them to move into the guesthouse. Claire's family is not rich and privileged like the other girls, so she has a hard time adjusting. She is known for her individualism, her non-designer style, and her Keds.

Microphone tattoo idea need suggestions on how to capture a perfect image of peace it brings and unity.?
Q. Well, I need some ideas for expression of the beautiful music of Hip hop not the ignorant rap murderers that contributed to the demolition of this art and poetry when done correctly. Never the less i want a microphone that shows I love it and truly a passion for my self to have as a state not for looks or to show off that's meaning less if it's no value if you get a tattoo that you regret. By the way it's going to be on my upper arm. I had ideas of a microphone with New York in it knowing it sprung during the 70's with B Boys and Girls, graffti, mcing, and djing. Excuse the grammar if it's not correct. The downfall to this is that I'm 15.. I know that could be severe consequences and all how I will regret but I do want this and know what I'm doing being mature enough to have something so brash and permanent. Ever since I was seven I was fascinated with the artistry of all music not just hip hop but rock and roll, jazz and so on. But where I grew up it was a escape for me to pick of the pen with a ( Reason ) not just the profit and fame it can bring that means nothing if no love revolves around it! I want to see peace but that's truly impossible look how we treat each other and I'm part of this generation it's sad we as the youth are to easily influenced. Not all are like this but a vast majority is stuck in a deep abyss because of the lack of pure role models saying killing, disrespect towards women, drugs, smoking weed and just having money is what life is about. Man fuck the industry I say that broadly with a firm aggressive tone! Ruined it with putrid schemes just for the market rap can be to the public with radio garbage we are fed daily but I refuse to hand over my attention to what "they" think we as a society want to hear. Truly I'm yearning to continue with overall knowledge not just music but the shit hole world we live in with lies and cheats and corrupted government of America. Cocky arrogant pricks, I'm part of the African American male population but am mixed with caucasian basically light skinned male. Haha I'm getting carried away with this looks like a huge rant. Back to the point I need to act on my rebel in my thoughts and do something to bring change! ANYONE I MC BY THE WAY YOU DON'T HAVE TO EVEN READ THIS IT'S OPTIONAL, BUT I GO BY EmC, which means "Eternally Making Craft" It's almost impossible to make it but I don't care I'm happy if I'm able to at least get those lyrics on the pad and improve every day with all motives and ways to enhance my self. Unique is what I'm trying to bring I have this style called reversable flow, inspired by those who made their own type of mcing, including Das EFX, Bone Thugs, Brotha Lynch Hung. No one is going to read this it's to long. IDEAS IDEAS to show microphone with depth on how it brings peace and my love for it. DONE
EmC Advanced Thoughts

A. Whoa!!! Your question is so wordy that most people won't read it. I only read half, and skimmed the rest!
So, instead of all of these words, why don't you spend some time looking for an image, or images that have elements in them that are what you are thinking? Then a skilled and talented tattoo artist can transform this into a custom tattoo design for you, taking your anatomy in mind along with your references.
And you need to wait.
If you truly want a good tattoo to carry with you through your life, then you will act maturely and do what is best to get the best tattoo. You need to wait until your body has fully grown so that your tattoo does not distort. You need to wait until you are emotionally mature, so that you will know that this is something that you will want 10 - 30 - 50 yrs from now... not just NOW. You need to mentally finish growing also, because it is a proven fact that your brain is not mature, and your decision making skills are far from where they will be in a few years.
So if you really want the best tattoo showing all of your thoughts and feelings etc. then you will wait, and while waiting you will do your research, and find images and find the best tattoo artist, and you will save your money so that you can pay for the best and tip well. You will research the most current and correct ways of dealing with aftercare, and you will use a high SPF sunblock for the rest of your life.

http://galadarling.com/article/how-to-get-a-great-tattoo-and-never-regret-it

In the mean time, you need to buy journals and pens and write down everything that you think. Maybe you will end up with a fine novel by the time you get your tattoo... really.

luck~

Any advice on how to become a plus size model?

Q. I want to model, but to be honest I'm a little more on the heavier side. I'd like to know how I can get into plus size modeling.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
YOU PEOPLE ARE INSANE! I'm not obese, I'm just not a size 2! There are such thing as plus size modeling (for instance urban modeling and whatnot). I don't appreciate any of your advices. I'm not asking how to stay fit, I'm asking how I can get into plus size modeling for Lane Bryant and what have you. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU PEOPLE ARE ANSWERING QUESTION TO JUST GAIN POINTS. YOU'RE NOT EVEN ANSWERING THE ACTUAL QUESTION.
I'm blocking you!

A. Ignore the idiots - they just can't believe that a woman over size 0 can make money as a model. ha ha, I love proving them wrong every day. ;) Ford, Wilhelmina and every other top agency have dozens of plus size models that make plenty of money, and the top girls make as much as the most succesful straight size models. Duh, people.
Here's some real info that might help. Good luck, girl!

There are requirements for plus size models - they include height and size restrictions. They are as tough for plus size models as they are for straight size ones. You need to be at least 58 (510 is preferable in the bigger markets like NYC, Miami, L.A., etc., so you're on the short side but you're young...) and fall between sizes 8 and 16/18. Yes, plus sizes start at size 8 as far as agencies are concerned. You need to be well-proportioned, toned and in good shape, have great skin, hair and teeth, and be quite photogenic - let's not forget - we're talking about MODELING. It also helps if you have few, if any, tattoos.

If you have these things going for you, I encourage you to attend an open call at an agency near you that represents plus size models You can find a local one by calling agencies that are listed in your local yellow pages and asking if they rep plus size girls, and then asking when their plus size open calls occur. You will need to get in front of an agent who will determine your marketability in this industry and advise you accordingly. Walk in wearing light makeup, simple but well-fitting clothing, and lose the high heels - they will know how tall you are so don't try to fudge it. Bring some simple shots of yourself that show your face and your full body - they don't need to be professional shots. They will look at your photos and will see your potential without all the makeup. You may be measured on the spot, or asked to be photographed in your underwear, so get rid of your inhibitions NOW.

You need to be in or near a large market smaller towns dont normally have modeling agencies, let alone plus size divisions. Your competition knows where to go, and they are going there, believe me. You can be stunningly beautiful, but if you cant make it to an open call or casting because you live too far away and cannot travel at the drop of a hat, you definitely have a strike against you. Your competition is thrilled to know that you don't have the money for a bus ticket or that your car is in the shop - means more opportunity for them!

If you are marketable, the agent will ask you to do several test shoots that you have to pay for, so please be ready to spend money and time developing your look. Agencies do not typically pick up these fees the model must do so. (You will need to spend money to get your career off the ground - modeling is not a get-rich-quick career. If you have kids and/or school to finish, you need to plan how you're going to balance it all.)

You may be asked to cut/trim/color your hair, get manicures and pedicures and to hit the gym before the shoot. You will be given a list of photographers that you can call to schedule a shoot, and you will pay them directly. A good agency will never ask for money directly its a transaction between you and the photog. If you want to get the most out of your test shoots, you should hire a makeup artist, hair stylist and fashion stylist to work on the shoot with you.

When your shots come back, your potential agent will see if you have what it takes, and then she/he will submit your photos to clients and see what kind of response you get. They usually submit a comp card, which is a collection of photos that you need to pay for, to the clients to get their feedback. There are no guarantees, and you will only work if clients like/need your look.

You can visit the plus size modeling thread at www.curvychick.com and get advice from working models, photographers, stylists, makeup artists and others within the industry. Take any support you get with a grain of salt - there are plenty of women who will say that you've "got it," but they usually just want to be nice and not have a hand in dashing your dreams. I personally don't want a hand in misleading anyone. AND if someone says you don't really have it, don't take it personally - you're not being judged as a person, not on your looks, but on your marketability - if you can't take the heat you should find another career.

do all guys not like girls with tattoos?
Q. i have a few tattoos and all my friend keeps saying is that guys will be totally turned off because i do. i love my tattoos and i know its all about my personal preference just wanted other guys opinions because i plan on getting some more

A. 36% of all women under age 30 are now tattooed. Models are now heavily tattooed. Women have been getting tattooed for 12,000 years because the more tattoos they have the more attractive to the opposite sex they are.
Besides tattoos are all about being true to yourself, so stop listening to others and just get your tattoos!

Looking for a personal review or reference for a tattoo artist in Seattle, WA?

Q. I am taking a trip to Seattle over the new year, and I'm hoping to get a tattoo while I'm there.
I've already done some research on Google, and so far I'm leaning towards Stephanie at Madame Lazonga Tattoo.
Does anyone have a personal reference or review from a tattoo artist in Seattle?

As I said, I've already done some research, I'm looking for personal experience.
Looking for a reference for ANY tattoo artist, not necessarily limited to Stephanie at Madame Lazonga Tattoo.

A. Hello --- i go to Magenta at Diamond Tattoo in Kent. Here is a video of the tattoos she
has done. The leg one is a cover up and it's now 4 days old. There is more to go as after
4 plus hours the skin said no more and we had to give it a rest until later, so the highlights
and color are still to be put in. Hopefully you are going before the 12th of January as she
will be out here in florida to do the all women artists tattoo convention.

Hope this is a help.

Tattoos, piercings in Japan?
Q. I've heard something, i don't know what.. i'm hoping someone can tell me here.. that people in Japan look down on people with tattoos???
I of course have both my arms covered in tattoos, and i'm going to japan in a couple of months.... i'm wondering if it's true and why it is, if so!?

And, how about piercings???
Is it popular for people over there to get piercings, as it is here in the west?!

Thank you!!

A. In general, yes, people in Japan do not like tattoos and piercings.

However, as a foreigner, you are sort of excempt from some of that. You're already seen as an outsider, from a different culture. Still, there are plenty of foreigners without them, so why you?

Tattoos are associated with the yakuza (Japanese mafia). It's extremely rare to see a Japanese with a tattoo without some connection to the mafia.

Piercings are for women.

Japan is strange in that some ways it seems almost anti-nature. Just look at the way all the rivers are cemented up. Yet on the other hand, an un-tattooed, un-pierced body is revered.

Why? It just is. I agree with it too. The human body is so beautiful just as it is.

Even from a Western pov, that's all sort of passe. I thought that was supposed to die out along with the Seattle scene (grunge). Nirvana died in 1994.

The tattooer Japanese literature?
Q. The Tatooer deals with the issue of the nature of art, its relation to the
artist and its relation to social norms and expectations. What
conclusions about these issues the story comes to and what metaphoric
elements it uses to make its points. Include an explanation of why the story could be called a twisted Pygmalian myth, why Janichiro chooses to set his story in the Edo period of Japanese history, why tattooing rather than another art form is used, the meaning of the black widow spider, the meaning of the references to sexuality and finally explain
the suggestion that the tattoo of the spider on the womans back will add to
her perfection what does that last element say about the relation between
art and nature.?

A. Try the following:-

Interpreting Japanese Culture in Tanizaki's The Tattooer
Junichiro Tanizakis story, The Tattooer begins with the narrator illustrating the ancient art of tattooing. He vividly describes that Japanese men, who were performing in the Kabuki Theater, received tattoos in order to satisfy their upper class audiences and enhance their beauty. This story is about a young tattoo artist named Seikichi who trained as an ukiyoye painter in his youth but dropped in social status and became a renowned tattoo artist. For years, Seikichi perfected his tattoo artistry on many clients. To him they were his body canvases which came in all different shapes and sizes, but he yearned for something more, he wanted the perfect canvas to paint his masterpiece on. Then one day, while passing a restaurant, he caught a glimpse of a beautiful womans foot and fell madly in love with her. A few days later, the beautiful woman appeared at his door carrying a package from one of Seikichis friends. He gazed at her beauty, she had the facial features that he desired, and her body was the perfect canvas he wanted to paint his greatest masterpiece on. Unfortunately, the young woman did not share in his dreams and was frightened by his gestures. As much as he tried to convince her, she still refused his offer to be his greatest masterpiece. In order to get what he wanted, Seikichi drugged the young woman and enslaved her.

Manly tattoo ideas for the hip and etc?

Q. What i look for in getting a tattoo is base on 3 things. style, color, and place.
Style is scrollwork the stuff you see on engraved guns. Color not sure. But place need help
i was thinking hip or hip to hip and on the lower back plus trapezius. I heard women get it on the hips but i am not gay and don't want to give of a gay vibe. I want to know is that a good idea. i want to make it look cool and manly like. I am somewhat muscular and don't want to cover and muscle.
Any opinions or ideas. I don't have a tattoo and don't want to mess up on my first.
i am keeping scrollwork ideas cause its different and make i look similar to tribal though.
i was also thinking shoulders, calve and maybe chest
Plus any tattoo artist who look at this please comment and leave your ideas.

A. Because women have been getting 'tramp stamps' on their lower back, and hips, by social standards tattoos in those places are seen as feminine. That's not to say your design would be seen that way should you get it done in either of those places - but if you really want to avoid that social stigma, my advice would be to try between shoulder blades, pectorals, or on your thigh.

No matter where you put the tattoo, it will be over muscle, so your comment of "don't want to cover any muscle" is pointless. If you're wanting something masculine, putting a tattoo on well defined muscle is probably a good idea.

If you're not sure, even after getting answers on here, do some research on tattoo artist in your area. Find some experienced artists in reputable studios, and actually go in with your design idea and ask them - it is their job to be able to tell someone where tattoos would work or not work, and physically seeing the design and your body shape will be better for you.

Good luck. :)

tattoos..?
Q. do heart or star tattoos have any particular meaning?

A. depends wat they mean 2 u
The nautical star symbolizes "finding one's way". It shall help you find your own path in life.

Shooting star tattoos are usually associated with a short moment in time that left a lasting impression on someone's life. Much the same as a true star fleeing across the night sky, they are bright and last only for a short time. As shooting star tattoos symbolize a moment in someone's life, the meaning is very much the same. Maybe it was a fleeting romance, a special friend or just a special event that forever changed the wearer's life.

Star tattoos are also often associated with actually having reached one's goal or dream. It could be a career, a romance or a special accomplishment that makes the wearer feel as though they have touched the star that they have reached out to for so long. The star tattoo can serve as a popular reminder.

A star tattoo may also be a choice for anyone who studies or enjoys astronomy. In some cultures, stars were meant to signify a new birth, a significant change or the desire to achieve a better life. A star could symbolize a bright spot in your life, which could be a child, a spouse or a special friend.

But not every image has to be a symbol or needs to be analyzed for it's meaning. For many, a star tattoo is simply the coolest tattoo design that will never go out of style. As long as there is a night sky and beautiful stars to shine, this popular image will forever be a part of the natural beauty that this world has to offer.

Women often prefer that the star tattoo to be located on the ankle, lower back, hip or shoulder. For men, the most common location for star tattoos is the upper arm. Because they are classic, a star tattoo can be a standalone design or may be part of a more complex artistic design.

The Sacred Heart is a religious devotion to Jesus' physical heart as the representation of the divine love for humanity.

hope this helps

A. best tattoo is no tattoo.

A woman's skin is so beautiful, it needs nothing to adorn it. A tattoo will ruin it

A tattoo parlor is a place where a lady will sacrifice her own natural beauty in order to become a canvas for someone elses art.

the fastest growing practice area of dermatology is tattoo removal.

Thoughts on this tattoo idea?
Q. Hey, I have been thinking of getting a tattoo of a feather (about 2 or 3 inches) on each rib, it would be quite hidden. I have wanted this tattoo for a long time and it will most likely be the only one I ever get so I want as much info as possible because its life time commitment! Also wondering how do rib tattoos generally age? Is it better to go for less intricate designs to avoid the ink spreding? Any opinions, thoughts or personal experiences are greatly appreciated! Thanks so much

A. Only if you are a women planning to get pregnant, or gain weight fast.
Otherwise, such a cool idea!(:

Are all lower back tattoos on women tramp stamps?

Q. Are all back tattoos on women tramp stamps or just the ones that go across the back that look like wings or tribal etc. My wife has a fairy on her back and her friend said that's a tramp stamp. I say it isn't. We have a bet on this one.

A. Well, it depends on who you ask. I'm a tattoo artist, and we refer to them in the business as lower back tattoos. The only time you may hear it, (at least around my shop) is when some girl, (looking like she's been missing out on soap and water for a week) comes in to price one, and when she finds out what tattoos cost, heads out the door. Now, that phrase is derogatory toward women in general, and was likely coined by some narrow-minded geek, who wasn't getting any. So, he came up with the term, out of nothing more than lust, jealousy of her boyfriend, and good old fashioned self-righteous indignation. Too bad popular opinion, among the ill educated, swings the other way. Also, good lower back tattoos are conformed to the lines of the body, particularly across the top of the hips. they can cut it low, so it can be hidden with regular jeans, but still show it off in the bedroom, or on the beach. To me, that in itself shows a dignified attitude about placement. NOT to be confused with a 'bulls-eye' as that is put on for different motives, and a whole different subject. The fairy is a fairy tattoo, that also happens to be a lower back tattoo. Calling it a 'tramp stamp' is ridiculous. That's my two cents.

What is it with women, and the lower-back tattoos?
Q. I have no problem with women getting tattoos. I mean, it's not a preference, but not something I'm against. But then, there's the "lower-back tat".

I can't figure it out. I've seen so many "party girls" sporting those things, that I actually see it as kind of a turn-off. Seems like ever since "Wedding Crashers", every other woman is getting one. Is the party-girl image one that girls actually *like*?
I didn't mean to offend anybody; obviously, not all these women are party girls. But from my experience, most women get them *because* of the image. Now, in fairness, I'm talking about women within the age group of late teens, to about mid-twenties. I think the stigma comes from, is a girl *only* has a lower-back tattoo. Again, not saying that women *are* that way, but many of them knowingly chose the location because of that.

Of course, that sorta thing isn't just women. Pretty much every guy on earth seems to think having a bicep tattoo makes him "hard".

If a tattoo is personal, then I support em; your body is kind of the one thing that you have true control over. It just kinda bothers me when people use tattoos as a fashion statement, than something truly personal.
Again, I'd just like to apologize to the people who have them. I just got really frustrated, since my younger cousin was talkin about trying to get one, and she's still in highschool. I just get... "peeved" at the MTV-culture, because it ruined my life growing up, and seems to be placing so much importance on "looking hawt".

Anyways, the tattoo was just what triggered it for me. Just sad that decisions like tattoos, which I feel should be a deep and meaningful choice, are being treated so lightly.

A. Tramp Stamp is a media thing. What happened was, when MTV started filming Spring Break specials, the wild, party-animal girls all seemed to have a lower back tattoo. Because they were partying, and appeared to be loose, their tattoos became tramp stamps.

How often do you see a prostitute on a episode of "Cops" with a lower back tattoo? Not very often, they usually have the nasty homemade tattoos on their arms or necks. Now, any woman who gets a lower back tattoo is automatically a tramp? It is a nice place to tattoo, it's large enough to do a great design, and can allow for a lot of detail, and are easily covered.

Women w/ tattooed sleeves only!?

Q. I'm seriously thinking about getting a 3/4 sleeve on my left arm. I've been mulling it over for the past 2 years. I've pretty much decided that I'm going to do it. I have an idea of what I will want on my arm for the rest of my life. I know that the tattoos that I get will have meaning. I've read a fair amount of different info on tattooed women. What I want out of this posting is how your life changed when you started or completed your sleeve. Did people treat you differently? Friends or family? In public situations, work? How and where? Do you have kids? How do your tattoos affect that aspect of your life? Do you regret any of your tattoos? Just anything, however minuscule you think it is. I would love to hear it. Everyone I've asked has just told me to do it and I need some kind of other opinion. Please serious replies only. Don't write something here just because you need points. Thank you to everybody who read this and replies seriously.
I have 2 tattoos on my back already. I'm not asking because I care what people think about me, I'm just interested to see what peoples experiences are. Thank you again

A. I am female, age 48 and I currently have 25 tattoos. I didn't get my first one until I was 44. I do not yet have an arm sleeve tattoo, but I will in the future. I do have what I consider leg sleeve tattoos on both of my legs from the knees down - fully covered. My left leg is a complete Alice on Wonderland theme. Yes, I do find that people treat me differently, but that is their problem not mine. I find that most people I encounter think that because I am female and have so many tattoos that I must be homosexual -- I have never heard a more crazy thing, but then again so many people stereotype based on looks alone. I am lucky enough to work for a Software Company that accepts the way I look regardless of tattoos. I have a daughter age 19 and she has several tattoos as well. In fact, we usually go together and get them. My husband has no tattoos at all. I do not regret any of my tattoos. I find it is a great way of expressing myself. I consider my body a canvas and my tattoos to be works of art. I have a great respect for the few people that I have encountered that have actually taken the time to ask me about my tattoos and their meanings. NEVER let anybody tell you what you can and can't do with your body! Do what you like and like what you do!

I need tattoo sleeve ideas for a guy?
Q. Ok so I don't plan on getting a tattoo for a long time but I wanted to get some help. I need tattoo themes for a guys sleeve, I don't mean types of tattooing (old school, new school, traditional... Etc..) I mean themes so that the sleeve goes together and isn't a collage of a bunch of things. Like I know there is religious sleeves and other themes out there, so if someone could name different themes of mens sleeve tattoos that would be great..

A. Full arm tattoos were a way to designate a member of this organization, rank, and how many stripes each had earned. No matter men or women, sleeve tattoos are very popular. If you want to know more about sleeve tattoos, you can read this article: http://blog.getbetterlife.com/sleeve-tattoo-ideas

if a woman has multiple tattoos...?

Q. So if you being a guy or lesbian were to see a woman with multiple tribal tattoos would you think she was less desirable?Taking to mind she is clean manicured and highlighted hair every other thing about her is very feminine (just the tats) :)please be somewhat detailed in your answer such as the thought or first impression if you can.Thank you all :)

A. I wouldn't have a tattoo myself
however some girls look cute with a clever/small tattoo on their lower back, shoulder or ankles.

it also depend on the size, style & location on the body

What worries me that those tattoos may not look too cool at mature/advanced age

Tattoo Location idea?
Q. I'm considering getting a tattoo saying "viva liberte" which means live free but I can't figure out a good place to put it

Ideas??

A. Kid listen, and listen well.

The job market is in the toilet right now, and who knows when it may recover... A flamboyant tattoo won't complement your CV unless you plan on working in a stockroom or bar for the remainder of your existence. Get your tat, in an area you can easily cover up throughout all seasons.

Avoid sleeves, forearms, face, neck, upper chest, trapezoids.
Legs (thighs/hamstrings or ankles), butt, shoulders, lower chest/breast and lower-back could be cool.

Also, avoid upper back mainly for aesthetic purposes as it is more masculine. On a final note, look at your parents. If they have hardcore love-handles/folds, you might want to avoid the tummy area.

I personally find lower back appealing on a woman. If you already have one there, go for legs or inner thigh. Maybe like an anklet would be nice? It's pretty tough to put on tons of weight on your lower legs/calves & ankles. I know this because I was in art school and have seen every possible body type. Plus I dated a fat chick for many years. It's rare to ever see blubber around calves/ankles/feet.

Tattoo ideas/help?(no tramp stamps)?

Q. Im thinking about getting a few tattoos, that are subtle, quite feminine, but not tacky.Im half french so i will probably get some french quotes and sayings.Or something to represent England,as i was born there but forced to move as a teen, still homesick 10 years later :(.Any ideas of what i could get,and where?

Also, has anyone actually seen like a 70-yr old woman with a tattoo?I never have and so maybe it's because most people get theirs removed.Just a thought.

So any ideas for a tattoo?I don't want to end up being a grandma with a tramp stamp that says 'sexy bitch' or something lol. Thanks xx

A. More feminine tattoos are typically on the back, hips, wrists, and ankles. Your best bet is to just brainstorm about sayings or designs that have a special meaning to you. Don't try to force it, just let the idea come to you. Come up with designs that you like and then wait another few months and see if you still like it. That way you'll be less likely to regret it in the future.

I've tattooed a 76 year old woman before, however, it was her first tattoo. I know more older men with tattoos because it was common for men to get tattoos when they were in the military. With women, it wasn't so common to get tattoos fifty years ago, so if older women do have tattoos, it's probably because they've only recently gotten them.

Hip Tattoos on a woman-Do the hurt, how much are they, etc?
Q. 1. I know it varies by person, but do these tattoos hurt? On a scale of one to ten, how much would this tattoo hurt for a woman?
2. How much do these range for a small-medium sized tattoo?
3. Have any ideas of what to put there?
4. Any websites with some info on them?

Thanks!

A. Hip tattoo's do hurt a little more than normal spots, just like another spot with bones (ribs, back, foot) But it isn't excruciating, you get used to it. Most places around me atleast, charge a 50 dollar minimum for the tattoo. It depends on what your getting, the detail, and whether you're getting it colored, or just black ink (black is cheaper) As for ideas, it is something you need to want on your body. Something that relates to you, or something you like. You can google just about anything to do with tattoo's. Keep in mind, tattoos on your hips will stretch if there is weight gain, or pregnancy. I like them though, i know a few people with them. Good Luck!!
