A. best tattoo is no tattoo.

A tattoo parlor is a place where a lady will sacrifice her own natural beauty in order to become a canvas for someone elses art.

Thoughts on this tattoo idea?
Q. Hey, I have been thinking of getting a tattoo of a feather (about 2 or 3 inches) on each rib, it would be quite hidden. I have wanted this tattoo for a long time and it will most likely be the only one I ever get so I want as much info as possible because its life time commitment! Also wondering how do rib tattoos generally age? Is it better to go for less intricate designs to avoid the ink spreding? Any opinions, thoughts or personal experiences are greatly appreciated! Thanks so much

A. Only if you are a women planning to get pregnant, or gain weight fast.
Otherwise, such a cool idea!(:

tattoos????

Q. i know that i'm young (13-15) and i can't get a tattoo just yet. but i kind of wanted to get something written on my wrist. how dangerous is that? and how much does a tattoo hurt? and no, please don't compare it to child labor. my mom already said that but i can't exactly relate to that. at all. anyways, and if not on my wrist i would want to get one where my dad wouldn't see. other than my butt or boob?
to tonycast.
what the heck.
i meant that if i said where my dad cant see (he's against tattoos) everyone would say butt or boobs.

pervert.
guys you seriously think i was getting one now???? get real. my mom would murder me. i mean when im 18 (supposed to be a b-day present for me for her since she got my sister one). my mum would be signing and watching over it.

A. As far as the danger goes, the only place that is NOT a good idea is on your head, as there can be a LOT of bleeding. Another bad place: the hands and feet. The skin on these places sheds and regrows so fast that the tattoos fade quickly- but not dangerous. Otherwise, if you talk to a tattoo artist, they will be able to tell you the risks of getting it where.

The pain involved with a tattoo depends on the person, but generally anywhere that it is over bone with no fat or muscle (ie ankle, tailbone, shoulder blade, spine!) really hurts. Also, places where the skin is naturally soft and tender- wrists, forearms, armpit, ankles, inside thighs- all hurt.

I've known girls who have passed out fom getting the "tramp stamp" on their lower back, and also guys who've been reduced to tears when getting inked on their ribs. Other people sit with a smile and read a magazine.

Since you are so young, it is not likely that you will get a licensed tattoo artist to do this for you- and maybe not even with a parents' consent! Many artists are bound by the rules of the parlor they work for. I would not advise going to a "garage artist" or a friend of a friend who happens to have a tattoo gun. This is how AIDS and Hep. C get spread!

My advice is try Henna. It is a strong dye made from plants, and comes from India. It takes a little practice to use it right, but you can get some stellar effects with it. It stays on for 3-6 months, and fades after that. Women in India get their hands and feet decorated in it before their weddings, and it can look just as good (if not better) than real tattoos!
You can order it here, or google for a place in your city on where to get it:
http://www.earthhenna.com/

If you really like it, you can just re-apply it every few months until you are old enough to actually get inked. If you don't like it, you don't have to reapply it! You're happy, Mom's happy!

Hope this was helpful, and Good Luck!

PS~ The only reason anyone mentioned giving blood to your kids: you just can't get inked when you are PREGNANT because of the risk of infection. Before or after you have kids doesn't matter!

Tattoo on my rib cage time and pain level for women?
Q. So I really want a tattoo on my ribs. It will be my first tattoo and I'm kind of nervous. I know what I really want so despite how much people says it hurts I will still end up getting it. What I want to know is personal stories of WOMEN who have gotten their ribs tattooed and how it feels to them. I am a larger girl so I do have body fat... does anyone think that that will help cushion the blow? ha ha I just want to kind of have an idea of what to expect.

just so you know I am planning on getting a tree with a quote from a french philosopher that says out of difficulties grows miracles. that really means a lot to my family life and i thought it was kind of clever tieing in the growing with the tree. How long do you think this will take... all in black and white no color.

A. having body fat will not cushion the blow, it may in fact intensify the pain. As far as the pain level in concerned...it is right up there with the most painful places to get done. Women handle rib pieces 10 times better than men. We are simply built different and we are built to tolerate pain in a different Fashion. Is it going to hurt? Yes! will it hurt bad? Yes! Is it unbearable....NO!

It sucks, its tender and I find the tattoos I have gotten while I am larger weight wise all hurt far worse than when I was thin. If this is something you want, get it. You can handle it!!! Since your getting it in black and grey, it will hurt less because there will be less blending of colors which is the more painful part!

I cant help you with price because I dont know the size you are getting it and the size determines the cost. Your looking to spend a decent amount if the piece will be large...$300-$400 maybe.

Where to put temp tattoo for special occasion?

Q. Where is the sexiest place to put a tattoo on a woman's body. Would like to get a temporary tattoo for a special occasion (for my man.) What designs are really sexy? Ideas please -- since it'll be temp, over the top is fine.

A. I would go for somewhere hidden from public view, like low on your hip, or maybe on your chest underneath your bra. As for tattoo ideas, you could go with the traditional rose or butterfly. Or you could do a pin-up girl, but I'd put that on your thigh or ribs for maximum inpact.

Since it's temp, and it sounds like you don't have any real ones, anything will be a shock when he comes across it.

Good luck!

im thinking about getting a tattoo on my ribcage?
Q. but i heard that it hurts like hell so i was just gonna get lyrics to my favorite hymn. i chose my ribcage b/c i dont want it to be visible or tacky when im old or wear dresses.
do you think these tattoos are attractive or trashy on women?
would i regret it?

if you know of any sites that have tattoo ideas..thatd be cool too. thanks.

A. i have a tattoo on my ribcage! it was my first piece and i plan on getting many more.

i think its awesome because i can hide it constantly (i wear clothes...) and i can reveal it when im at the beach or the pool or with my bf. i think rib pieces are awesome because theres so much space for an artist to work with, but if u dont wanna use too much room you dont have to, cuz smaller tats look good there too. i havent had one person say a negative thing about mine because its a cool spot, its a nice tattoo, and it looks good on me. my bf LOVES it because it fits the curve of my body and he's the only person other than me who sees it frequently.

its not as painful as people say it is, and i have a low pain tolerance. it was def worth sitting through the stinging cuz now i have a beautiful piece that i love. i dont think its tacky. a tattoo cant make someone tacky, either a tacky person gets a tattoo thats even tackier, or its just a tattoo on a non-tacky person. i think its a great spot and def something out of the ordinary!

good luck!

Tattoo ideas for the poem Annabel lee by Edgar Allen Poe?

Q. He is my favorite poet and Annabel Lee is my favorite poem. I want a tattoo to represent this. Any ideas would be very helpful. Also for placement it needs to be in an area I can cover easily because of work. I also have one tattoo already on my right hip that runs up to my bottom rib.

A. Something like the first link. I believe that the sea is a crucial part of this poem. It's one of my favorite Poe poems and he's also one of my favorite poets. The sea also features in 'The City and The Sea' and 'A Dream Within A Dream'. It plays a metaphorical and symbolic role in these three poems.

It means that all things will at last be swallowed up by the eternal and immortal. All rivers flow unto the sea.

I think that the first link is a nice setting with a girl on the beach and a moon. This is nice because it kind of says something beautiful and gothic like 'all our life is a shadowplay'.

Having the setting or picture placed in a frame could be really cool. Like a locket, the type of love locket that they had back in the 1800's. Men and women would keep a picture in the locket, the frame is more important in this case. Maybe an oval type shape?

The other thought was an anime type cartoon. Have you heard of 'Lenore: The Cute Dead Little Girl' or 'Ruby Gloom'? I thought perhaps a more defined anime however - Annabel Lee doesn't seem cute or little, she's a very mature sort of immortal love.

Good luck. In the end I don't want to say too much. I understand how special this poem is. The three ideas were a: the sea or beach, b: anime / cartoon caricature. And c: a locket.

Good luck.

How much do tattoos typically cost?
Q. And I realize that pain tolerance varies from person to person, but on average how bad does it hurt? What is the least painful place to get one?

And what is the best place for a woman to get one that won't stretch (or stretch the least) during pregnancy?
It's going to be a small tattoo and I'm definitely not planning on getting pregnant for a long long time =)

A. Pricing on a small tattoo will vary according to:

-actual size
-colors
-artist/studio
-state
-location of tat
-studio minimum fees

Basically, any reputable studio is going to charge between $60 and $90 as a minimum fee no matter how small the tat. If you find a place that charges less, they are usually not the type of place you want to go to. A small black-ink-only tat will usually go for somewhere in that range.

As far as pain goes, of course it varies greatly from person to person, but the general rules of thumb are:

1) anywhere on the bone tends to hurt more, examples are the spine, ankle, shoulder blades, etc.

2) anywhere with a lot of nerve endings will hurt more, for example the buttocks, rib area, inner wrist, or inner upper arm.

The top of the thigh doesn't hurt nearly as much (while the back of the thigh is quite sensitive), and the back of the hip where you have a little padding and fewer nerve endings also hurts much less. However, the pain anywhere is fleeting and all part of the experience. You'll do great. It's not all about end product, right?

If you are concerned about stretching during pregnancy, you can easily get tattooed on your back, arms, legs, or neck. Many women get wrist tats especially when they want something small, easily seen (or covered, for that matter), and not easily affected by drastic changes in weight.

Take your idea to a tattoo studio or artist you trust, and ask them any questions you might have. Consultations cost nothing and are the best way to alleviate any fears, inform yourself, and get to know the artist you'll be working with.

Best of luck!

How can I combine this into a really cute tattoo?

Q. I want to get roses and hawthorn flowers in honor of my relationship with my sister. My sister was born with spina bifida and she has taught me to just have faith in things and everything will work out. We are super close I'm just not sure how to make this into a really beautiful tattoo.

A. Hey!!! I got roses withs vines and thorns around a latin word on my ribs and i can tell you its a really nice place to have that tattoo. Flower+vine tattoos are really good looking on women (and well im a guy and i manage to make it look bad @$$ also) so you might want to consider that region. For the actual design i would say go talk to a tattoo artist, get a consultation. They have great ideas and they know what looks good with your body type, complexion, etc. Oh and dont forget: dont limit yourself with budget or because people tell you it hurts (not that bad actually), because good tattoos arent cheap and cheap tattoos arent good!:)

Hope that helps!:)

Cheers!

What tattoo should I get on my rib cage.?

Q. I have a lot of tattoos and I really want one on my rib cage. I'm a female with a very small build. I want it to be big but with small lines, very feminin. I want it to have some meaning behind it not just a picture. Some of my enterest and personal experiences are:
Im a very strong assertive woman and I've been through a lot.
I like dolphines
Family is very important
I'm not religious so no bible scripts or anything
I believe every woman should feel beautiful with out cosmetic surgery or hair dye or make up.

SO I want a tattoo with some meaning and those were some of my interest so maybe someone can help me.

A. you don't want something directly covering your rib cage why don't you try something that flows with your body, such as a tattoo that goes from your hip bone to the bottom of your rib cage.
i can't seem to think a bra up against a tattoo for 12 hours or more is going to feel too good!
as for ideas check out www.tattoojohnny.com

Guys: what would you think of a small rib tattoo on a woman?
Q. I'm 18 and I really want to get a hamsa (hand of god) tattoo design on the side of my ribcage, but I want it to be relatively small (smaller than the majority of the hamsa rib tattoos i've seen). If I really want it in a few months I'm going to get it either way because it's my body, but I was just curious what you guys would think of that on a girl. It would be my only tattoo. Thanks! I'm a runner and stuff btw so it's not like I'm overweight and want to show off an unattractive part of my body.

A. "what eva what eva, its my body i can do what i waaaant" , ...... and to anwser your question I have no idea what a hamsa or hand of god looks like so i cant really answer your question. However geting a rib tattoo for your first one isnt recomended. I have a 6-7 hour rib tattoo on my entire left side of my body. I also had around 15 hours of ink done previous to that including some on my chest. About an hour into my rib tattoo was more painful than all of my other ink put together. Also the rib area is a good place to put a big tattoo. You have plenty of good spots to put small tattoos.
