Are Wrist Tattoos Gay?

Q. I plan on getting 2 tattoos before I go back to college, I want the Libra sign in black on the underside of my right wrist and the characters for rabbit on the other wrist in red.

Being a guy is it gay, getting wrist tattoos?

A. GAY?

Are you kidding me? I know I'm a woman but I have both my inner wrists tattooed and know of LOTS of men with them, including guys with sleeves down to their wrists. I know one guy who just did flames on his wrists, all the way around. They looked like they were flaming up his arm, looked very awesome.

So no, not gay. Your choice of tattoo design might not be appropriate for the wrists but who am I to judge, lol.

Any women professionals have a wrist tattoo?
Q. I want a wrist tattoo.. but I'm worried about my job. I work in a corporate environment, so I was thinking I could just wear a suit jacket/blazer every day and if it was hot out, I could always take it off at lunch..

Does anyone else have this problem? Do you wear long sleeves everyday? Is it annoying that you can't wear short sleeves ever to work?? Thanks!!!

A. i have tattoos on both of my wrist. im in nursing school right now, and every time i do my clinicals, i have to wear a long sleeve shirt. its SUPER annoying. the nursing facilities get super hot, and it doesn't make it any better that im running around patient to patient non stop...i end up getting really over heated and sweaty. i work at ipower web hosting right now, and they dont mind my tattoos, so i don't have to wear long sleeves at work. thank god for that one becuase this places a/c sucks!

take it from me that it gets annoying FAST. i live in Arizona and it gets to 115+ degrees in the summer. blazers and long sleeves shirts arnt that comfortable anyways. in the summer time it feels better to wear a short sleeve or sleeveless shirt. even if you are in the a/c.

i hope that was the answer you were looking for. if you really want to get a tattoo, get it on your shoulder or your hips? the wrist are really indiscreet.

Can a prego woman get tattoo?

Q.

A. It is not advisable to get a tattoo while pregnant or nursing, though it is unlikely getting a tattoo will hurt the fetus or nursing infant. The problem will be in the quality of the tattoo. While pregnant the body is working overtime and the tattoo will possibly heal harder and possibly result in a light tattoo. Additionally, while pregnant many women put on extra weight that will come off after the pregnancy. The extra weight will cause the tattoo to be distorted once the weight is lost. While nursing a woman's body produces antibodies that are to be passed to the infant. If tattooed while these extra antibodies are in the system the tattoo may heal harder and possibly result in a light tattoo. If your desire is to get the best quality tattoo I suggest that you wait until the pregnancy and nursing are completed and then get the tattoo. If you decide to go ahead and get the tattoo while pregnant or nursing please consult your tattoo friendly physician first.

For Guys- Good places for women to get tattoos?
Q. I'm considering getting a small tattoo, but I'm not sure where, which will also determine what I get. Obviously not a tramp stamp.
But like, what spots are pretty sexy for tattoos on women, and what is just a good spot to avoid?
I'm considering a single word, too, but I'm not sure.

A. I have never and will never date a woman with tattoos.

OF ANY KIND !

What is the advantage and disadvantage of having your eyebrows tattooed?

Q. If you are a pretty girl would you consider it?

A. I dont have tattooed eyebrows, but three small hoop rings on one side. I like them and it doesnt look too bad. I didnt find out until after I had done my own peircings that there is a nerve up there that if hit, can paralyze the whole side of your face, hmmmm. Guess I got lucky there.
We worked at a mill in an isolated location in British Columbia and there was a young couple that got on there for a while too. They had spent time in Africa and she had tribal tattoos on her face. She was and is a very pretty young woman, but I thought then and still do that they looked rather cool.
These days a lot of people are getting tattoos of Japanese symbols, that depending on who sees them may result in some not so good misunderstandings. Be aware of what you are getting and know some of the culture behind it before you get the tattoo. Its easy enough to get a cover up, but on the face, I dont think so. I am considering one on the face, but I have considered the same tattoo a few years now, so it is a big decision for me. I already have six tattoos, but none on my face (yet). Here is a site that might be of some help in making your decision as regards to facial tattooing.
TattooMeNow.com<support@tattoomenow.com>
So, in light of the above;
It does not ruin a beautiful face when done right Be prepared to live with it the rest of your life It definitely does add character to a persons face, but not all peoples faces. Be careful of what symbols etc. that you do get as sometimes they can have different meanings; depending on who sees them.

Do you have/plan on getting any tattoos?
Q. Tell me about them if you do^.^

A. I have many, all with specific meanings, all beautiful pieces.
(Not going to type out all the meaning for them)

-Half Sleeve: all kinds of flowers/butterflies (the process of life) and a piece dedicated to my husband (not a name though, never tattoo the name of the person you are in a relationship with)
-Upper arm: a symbol that almost all the women in my family have (majority of them have it on their backs, my sis on her leg, me on my arm)
-Back Piece: The justice scales with roses and vines mixed with tribal (like) art around it.
-wrist: a heart on fire with "lessons learned" on it
-Upper forearm says: No pity for the weak and cowardly
-Ankle: A broken heart
-Calve: Roses
-Hip: Butterfly
-Lower back more: flowers

Half sleeve tattoo on women?

Q. So my questions is I want to know people's opinion on women with half sleeve tattoos? I also wanna know how a women with a half sleeve feels about their tattoo after getting it and especially when you got older or became a parent? And how you feel at professional or fancy events?

A. I have had NO issues with being judged or looked at in a negative way. I got my first tattoo in 1993 and will be getting my eleventh the end of this month and number twelve in July. As the lady below mentioned, I am not uneducated trailer trash. I am a college graduate and I live in an upper middle class neighborhood. I have a 15 year old and a 2 year old and if I have to go to a function or meeting at my daughters school I always make sure I am dressed professionally and wear conservative clothing. I'm fortunate enough to live in the DC area, so there are a lot of different people and everyone is pretty open minded. I personally feel that a beautifully excuted tattoo sleeve or half sleeve can be gorgeous. I wouldn't change any of my tattoos, and if you are less than 100% sure you want it, don't do it! If you truly believe that you can live with them for the rest of you life, then go for it.

What do you think of half-sleeve tattoos on women?
Q. I really like them and I'm even considering getting one but I am curious what the general public thinks of women with them? Large tattoos, at least where I live, are typically a male thing.

A. I think that no matter where you go, you'll have some people who love them and some who hate them. I've seen women with them, and I think they look great. Personally, I think it's your body, and you should decorate it any way you please, and be proud of it, regardless of what other people think

how many of u like arms(sleeves) of women?

Q.

A. Are you asking do people like women who have tattoo "sleeves" (full arm coverings)?

I think that they are nice for some women. I personally wouldn't go that far with my tattooing.

If this isn't what you are talking about, then I have no clue.

need arm tattoo advice on women?
Q. i have wanted a half sleeve of starry night for 8 years, since i was 15. i keep talking myself out of it, cuz its a bold statement. i have 7 tattoos, most are well hidden despite big sizes. i got a wrist tattoo hoping that would cure my fear and i could go out and get it, but i still dont have it. so thoughts on women with half sleeves....sexy, trashy, masculine, feminine...?

A. All beautiful tattoo work is art and is that, beautiful. No matter the gender of the canvas.

Why get tattoos in the first place if you are worried what people will think of your passion. It is your passion and if you love tattoos and tattoo art to hell what people may think. No matter what tattoo you may get some will love it and others will think it trashy.

Personally, I love when a chick gets work of that nature. It is a bold statement in self confidence.

Opinions on girls with quarter sleeve tattoos?

Q. I'm female, wanting to get a tattoo on my upper arm. I have no idea if i should do this or not. should i stick to something smaller? please give me your input, thanks!

A. I hate to say this because it is so cliche. But it depends on the tattoo. I am not a big fan of large tattoos on women. I like small discreet tattoos instead of in-your-face. But with that being said, I have seen some beautiful larger tattoos (including sleeves) on women that are amazing.

quarter sleeves and portraits on women?
Q. Is a quarter sleeve tattoo on a woman attractive or butch and masculine? I want to get from below my elbow to my wrist done and incorporate things like birds, flowers, and wording.
Also, is a portrait tattoo on a woman's arm masculine?

A. Sweets,

I'm not being funny, but if you like it and want it done, why would you care what any of us think? It's your arm, not ours and it's your personality and mind that contribute to your personal style. No one on here has any say whether you should do it or not.

Personally, I love sleeves and cuffs on women and have both. The majority of my female clients are having sleeves done and portrait work on arms is always popular.

You really shouldn't stress over what some closed-minded tw*ts on Y/A think...they're not going to be meeting you any time soon. Not to mention the good ole' saying: "Don't like it, don't look" (^_^)

I would just jump in and go for it, good luck :) xx

Need ideas for a full side tattoo? Can't seem to find one I like! Ideas?

Q. I am a women and I am planning to get a full side tattoo. I want the tattoo going from the side of my ribs down to the top part of my thigh. I don't want the tattoo to go around to my stomach. Any ideas? (: Thanks!

A. Depends on what style too and what will suit you. Also what looks timeless and classy. Theres so much choice and its a huge space to fill.vJapanese style is always nice and you cant go wrong if you get a good artist who specialises in it. You could get geometric patterns. You could get black and grey filigree which Always looks stunning. Flowers etc always are timeless. Look on tumblr. Pinterest. Etc. Theres so many ideas. Some flowers have meaning. You could have something like an animal, person as the focal point. Or just natural landscape as a back ground. Or you could habe no background just object or pattern/flower/vines as suggested or tree as the piece. Look at japanese art. Or other fine artists. Tattoo styes:traditional. Old school, Black and grey. Tribal. Realism. Bio mechanical. Etc you . Find a style. Then find a good artist. Thats the most important. Even if its more expensive. Worth the art and the investment. X

You cannot travel the path until you have become the path.
There are only two forces in the world, the sword and the spirit. In the long run the sword will always be conquered by the spirit.
The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose.

What's your opinion regarding women with tattoos?
Q. I'm writing for a blog and I'm trying to get your opinion on this subject.
Thank you!!

A. I believe that women, just like men look great with tattoos. Some don't look right, but they just have to be tied together nicely. I believe that they look even nicer if you haven't seen that tat already on the three other people in front of them. It is a way to express their creativity, beliefs, or in some cases their stupidity. But all in all, they are a memory, good or bad, that they wanted to remember always. Hope this helps :)

People should be original in this day and age and NOT get a tattoo.

Women with tattoo's ...Yes or No?
Q. Women with full body tattoo's look so trashy to me...all over their neck, cartoon characters on their azz. Have women just lost their minds about what is really beautiful/attractive? Kat Von D looks like a mortician. WTF is going on with tattoo's?!?

A. Only 2 dollar whores get tattoos. There is nothing worse then seeing a 50+ something woman with saggy breast and a faded tattoo smoking a generic cigarette.

First tattoo: rib tattoo?

Q. HELLO! I just turned 17, and im ready for my first tattoo. but im wondering, would it be smart to do a rib tattoo first? i wanna hear some of your opinions.
Also, how much does it hurt? i've heard it's bad, and that people say it's much worse then it actually is.

Thanks!

A. I have my whole side done, (about a 1/3 finished piece) and the part right at the top that was the worst part of the whole thing, it hurts, but it's not unbearable, I felt my organs vibrating.

If its something with a lot of detail you might want to get the outline done, let that heal then get the rest.
After 90 minutes on mine I had to stop, then a few months later went to get the rest (that I have so far) done.

The pain is worth it though, ribs tats look amazing on anyone
And I find I have a high pain threshold, and it didn't hurt as much as people made it seem.
But women also have a higher pain threshold than men..

Rib cage tattoo on bigger woman?
Q. Ok i know this is gonna be a weird question, but it can make a difference. Im going to be getting a tattoo on my left rib cage, and i know with all tattoos they hurt, i have 3. My question is, if your a bigger woman will it hurt worse or less on the side? Ive heard people say that the more fat you have the less pain and visa versa. Im a thick girl, no not like 400lbs but im a little bigger than most, and am getting my tattoo soon. I just wanted to know. Thanks!

A. I'm about 5'7 and 160 pounds - not too fat, but certainly not skinny. Getting my ribs tattooed DEFINITELY hurt. I think it's just one of those tender areas that is going to hurt no matter what.

What is your opinion on tattoo's of women showing bare breasts?

Q. What would be your first thought if you saw a person with a tattoo of a lady with bare breast? What kind of impression would that person make to you? Would your opinions differ if the person with the tattoo was a man or woman?

A. If it was classic 'Sailor jerry style' pinup type woman, I would think that the wearer likes old style traditional tattoos, and is wearing a piece of art and culture history. I love tatts of this style.

If it was just a random chick with bosoms exposed to cause offense or titillation(so to speak) I would think creepy and not want to be around that person.

Classic art tattoos can work for anyone who can project the image, from a salty old seadog to Amy winehouse premortem.

Tattoos on women..Trashy or Sexy?
Q. I have noticed a trend in the last ten years, basically really hot or cute girls having themselves tramp stamped on their lower backs and behind their necks with hideous tattoos. This used to be a gang member or biker thing, representing the girl was "property" of the gang or biker she was with. Now it seems to just have exploded. I personally find this to be ugly, and trashy..like the girl is marked as a piece of property...whats your view?

A. Very trashy. Any woman who has a tattoo anywhere is a woman you should stay away from. Tattoos mean trouble. Tattoos are a huge "red flag" that means one or more of the following:

"I am a misfit"
"I will cause you big problems",
"Get to know me and you will regret it"
"I am immature",
"I am needy",
I am foolish,
I am shallow
I make bad decisions,
I have no sense of right and wrong,
I follow fads,
I am unemployable,
"I have been to prison",
"I belong to a criminal gang",
"I am promiscuous",
"I work in the sex-services industry",
"I can not sustain a long term relationship".

5. Does it hurt-alot?
6. Do you recommend it on the foot why or why not?
7. I have heard you can't wear shoes or socks during the healing process-is this true? What happens if you do?
8. Will I scar from the tattoo needle? I have very sensitive skin and scar from everything
9. Will it need to be touched up in the future-how often?

These pictures are about where I want my tattoo (just in case you need to know), but these are not the ones I want. Thanks again and Happy Holidays! :)
Thank you to everyone who answered you all were extremely helpful!!!!!!! :)

A. Smudge? Tattoos anywhere on the body lose their sharpness, especially very small tattoos. Detail will be lost. For instance, good tattoo artists won't do small text because it will run together into a blurb. you can't help that, it's your body's natural aging process. Otherwise, the tattoo can 'blow out' where the lines can look like they've strayed from the original design. Usually a result of a very heavy handed artist.
A small tattoo of that size, probably an hour, your feet do hurt because of the bones and nerves in that area. Not a lot of skin and fat = pain. Typical healing time is about three weeks (for the initial process, complete healing time can be up to two months on a foot, which is why swimming and sunning are on the no no list for that long, then wearing sunscreen, while the top layer of skin regrows after peeling), though foot tattoos tend to hurt for longer during the healing process because the artist is putting an open wound on you, you don't realize how often you use a limb until you have something painful on it. As long as you stay to the upper side of the foot, you should be ok location wise, your foot regrows skin at a faster rate than other spots of the body because of the wear and tear it sees. So getting it lower where callouses are can be horrible for tattoos fading quickly or ink not sticking well.
Inevitably you're going to wear something on your feet. If you can schedule the tattoo before a weekend where you can leave it mostly uncovered for the first few days, it'd be great. You can wear cotton or a breathable sock, you want the ink to get air to heal. Shoes, try to keep them loose and kick em off when you can. If worst comes to worst, the sock might stick to the tattoo, if it doesn't come off easily after you apply water to gently remove it, you might need minor touch ups.

A tattoo is a scar. In a worst case scenario, you might end up with a keloid type scar. They're common around piercings but if you've ever had anything like them before, you might want to really think about the tattoo. Otherwise, the tattoo won't scar beyond where the ink is applied unless you get an infection.
With today's inks and applications, most tattoos can go years without a touch up, but your feet might need them a bit more often if you're a fan of flip flops or similar shoes where the tattoo is going to see a lot of sun, or if you like cramming your feet in heels or other tight fitting shoes, they can effect how often you're going to get a touch up. Tattoos do fade. It's inevitable. It's up to your aftercare that's going to effect it and how often you'd need touch ups to refresh it. Lots of sun or abrasive shoes can certainly do damage to a tattoo.

You've left yourself plenty of time to plan, so be sure to pick out an artist you're comfortable with and ask them for aftercare advice. A lot of shops put up aftercare on their websites now so people can be prepared with the right lotions and such before they get their tattoo (I can't recall how many times I've had to run out after getting a tattoo cause I forgot to plan ahead of time). Some have different tips and tricks to make things easier for you and that can give you the time before the tattoo to pick up anything that can be beneficial to having at home before you get inked (like an ice pack if it gets too sore).

Otherwise, eat right before you go in to get your tattoo, drink something sugary, fuel helps your body tolerate the new wound Be sure to ask your artist what their aftercare is, they should be able to give you concise washing directions (typically 2-3 times a day with a mild soap, pat dry with a clean paper towel, apply thin layers of lotion, something scent free and dye free like lubriderm, etc) and other info so if you do need a touch up, they can rest assured you didn't try some off the wall healing process either. :) Have fun and happy holidays to you!

Is this -really- a tattoo spot for guys, or can it be for both genders?
Q. I'm roughly nine weeks away from expecting my new precious little life of pride and joy. And I've decided (after I have him, of course) that I want to get his first and middle name as my first tattoo. My boyfriend and I have gone back and forth, back and forth about it and where I should put it. Obviously he wants to get our son's name on him as well..

I just graduated high school this past May, and I've also graduated from a Technical School this past May, too. I work at my local hospital, and I've decided to try to go back to school this year at the Technical School for a few other certifications through this class. I noticed a girl in my class has a cute tattoo of the word, 'Believe' on the outside part of her forearm between her wrist and her elbow. Which is where I want to get my son's name, but when I brought it up to my boyfriend, he said, "What's with you and always wanting to use the guys' spots?" Then I told him about the girl in my class and her tattoo there.

I'm just purely curious, is the spot on the outside of your forearm between your elbow and your wrist -really- a 'guys' tattoo spot, or both genders??
Dave, maybe you should learn some grammer and English before bashing other people on "being looked down upon." Just a little piece of advise for the common folk. xD

Tattoos are NOT something that people look down upon, the way some people abuse them are, though. Like getting devils, '666,' naked people.... Just inappropriate things on your body is disgusting. If that tickles your fancy, then get it somewhere where people don't have to see it.

My child's name is NOT disrespectful, not disgraceful, not innapropriate, and FAR from them. Try sticking your foot in your mouth somewhere else:)
Rex, I already work at a place that I don't foresee myself leaving anytime soon. Yes, I do have to cover them up there, but that's easily done. I work midnights at the hospital. No biggie.

A. I've tattooed for 18yrs and the spots on women and even men have changed with the times...I find that more women do regret getting tattoos in these so called mens areas and rightly so because woman aren't as attractive with tattoos on their fore arms or necks & so on...funny comeing from a tattooist eh! Any how like I said I've seen more woman wish they hadn't gotten their tattoos in these spots so my suggestion to you is to really think about this because once done there's no going back.....why not for a first time tattoo get it on your inner arm or back shoulder blade....take care and I hope all works out for you April1215.
