How do i start tattoo sleeves?

Q. Hey i'm a girl, 18, kind of edgy/punk/rocker whatever you wanna call it. Eventually i'd like tatto half-sleeves on both arms, like to a little past the elbow. I have no idea how i should start them out, and i'm open to many suggestions. Something feminine, but badass? Lol xD

A. Steps in getting a Sleeve tattoo:

You choose the following:
1. The concept or theme. For example is it going to be about music, love, romance, Alice in Wonderland, or nature. This is all up to you. It should always reflect who you are in your heart and soul.

2. You choose the style. Here are the main ones: Tribal, Fineline Color, Fineline Black and grey, Japanese, Traditional America or New School. If you need examples feel free to email me and I will send some.

3. Pick the images you want in the sleeves. For example a music sleeve would have your favorite musicians, instruments, music staff and notes, etc. They should be in the same theme or they look weird.

4. Next you choose open or closed sleeves. Open sleeves leaves lots of space between the images to give it an airy feel. Closed sleeves means all skin is tattooed even between images, this give the sleeve a more powerful look and feel. The choice is up to you.

5. Next choose an artist. This is not for the average tattoo artist. It has to be a master artist, someone who has done a lot of sleeves. Many times there are none in your area so you will have to travel. If you need recommendations email me at the email address below and I will give you some.

6. The rest is up to the custom artist. They will draw up the sleeve first and show you what they have, except tribal is best drawn right on the arm. Make sure you tell them you want a proper sleeve, which means it should start on the top of the shoulder, include the armpit (Yeah it hurts) and finish on the top of the hand like an opera glove. If you want it perfect you can include knuckle and finger tattoos. Don’t worry about the hand, because with a full sleeve it cannot be hid anyway, so everyone will know so why not do it right.

7. Next get a second job if not rich, just to pay for the sleeves because they are very expensive.

If you have any other questions, feel free to email them to me at tatmaster28@yahoo.com

Good Luck. When sleeves are done right on a woman, they can look awesome and even change your entire life for the better.

How do you say 'Killer' in different languages?
Q. Ok i want a tattoo that says 'killer' but in a different language, I'm half Italian but I already have other Italian tattoos so I want to mix it up. I don't want to write it in English cause Don't want people to know what it means unless I explain it.. You probably think its stupid but it's not, so any ideas?
I quite like the idea of Japanese or Greek maybe :)
Ps I don't want to google translate it incase it's wrong, but I'm obviously going to check it properly before I get it done but I have no idea so i want ideas :D

A. In Welsh, Lladdwr if it's a man, Lladdwraig if it's a woman.

What is the functional purpose of human eye brows?

Q. I can understand the need to have eye lashes but what practical purpose do our eye brows serve in terms of practical-anatomical functioning?

A. Those tiny, little hairs above our eyes that many women either pluck, paint, pierce or tattoo play a very important role in keeping moisture out of our eyes.

Just like an umbrella keeps our bodies dry from the rain, our hairy eyebrows keep our eyes dry from rain or sweat.

When it's pouring rain outside or when sweat drips down from our foreheads, our eyebrows divert the flow of water or sweat away from our eyes.

Our arch-shaped eyebrows angle the rain or sweat around to the side of our faces--leaving our eyes fairly dry. By catching the water or sweat, our eyebrows not only allow us to see more clearly, but also keep salty sweat from burning or irritating our eyes.

Without eyebrows, getting around in these conditions is a little more difficult. The shape of your brow itself diverts a certain amount of moisture, but eyebrows make a significant difference in your ability to see. Diverting the sweat away is also good because the salt in sweat irritates the eyes, making them sting a little.

What happens when a woman hits her sexual peak?
Q. I have heard that men peak around 18 and women peak in their 30s. I'm sure it varies a bit from person to person, but that's supposed to be an average. So anyway, how does this sexual peak happen? Does she gradually become more of a sexual person? Does she want sex more and more as the days go by? Does it suddenly hit her one day? Is she frigid one day and a sex maniac the next day? Tell me what you know.

A. Women's big sexual peak is after their tattoos have faded, their eyes have gone from sparkly to hollow, and their chins are in need of shaving. They burst upon the sex express demanding an increase of coitus from the usual once a month to twice a month for all months containing an "R".

Laugh. It's too true. Laugh, don't argue. Words are useless in the face of experiences.

Is putting on a bunch of temporary tattoos too messy for Halloween?
Q. Never was into tattoos, so looking like a tattoo fan sounds like one idea for Halloween, if the temporary ones are easy to take off for the next day. Or, does it get into the clothes?

A. I have seen a wide variety of the wet and press on tattoos it takes a little practise but they can look like real tattoos. I am sure different brands work differently. Henna tattoos stay on for awhile longer whereas the wet and press on stay on until they are worn off or taken off with alcohol and some rubbing. Be careful where you put them if you want to remove them because they take a little effort to remove and a sensitive area is unpleasant to remove it from. I use to do plenty on the kids. The glitter rhinestone ones often do not usually stay on very good and may require a better glue than they come with. I am sure one can use the super glue to attach these better to the skin but it will take awhile for them to come off because the skin will have to be shed or pulled off with it. What determines how a tatoo affects the skin and how long it stays is how it is applied and what it is made of. The plastic wet and press ones do not tend to have colors come off on clothing. I am sure they have information on the internet about tatoos. I knew a beautiful Asian woman who use to come in with these incredible wet and press on tatoos over her very nice chest that looked real but as every few weeks they would change it was obvious they were temporary. The wet and press ones I put on the kids stay on pretty good for about a week then begin wearing off but to get them off faster for school their mother takes alcohol and rubs enough that the kid got tired of the tatoos and no longer want them unless they are on the shoulder where they can be hidden by a sleeve.
I would suggest you practise awhile before Halloween as to applying the temporary tattoos so that you can do a good job on Halloween. Often the dollar stores have lots of smaller ones and various sizes to practise with. Just put them where you can cover them or easily remove them. Start out small and build up. The ones I buy come in sheets and I cut out what I want to put on. Once you begin to apply it is difficult to fix them so begin with some inexpensive ones for practising if you intend to go on to the really nice bigger ones that can be purchased at various places and probably on the internet.

Whats the Equivalent feeling to a tattoo near your hip bone/lower stomach?

Q. If you had to describe the feeling of getting a tattoo on your hip/lower stomach what would you compare it to? Im getting a tattoo on my hip tommorow (its booked and everything) and i was wondering what it feels like?? By the way this is my first tattoo.
and do you have any suggestions to help me with the pain?
thanks so much!

A. I recently got a tattoo on my hip bone and lower stomach. Different spots felt pretty different.

When he was right on my bone it really hurt pretty bad. The pain stops every time he pick up the needle, so that helps, but it's a burning/scratching sensation. I've never been stung by a bee, but I thought is was kinda like getting scratched by a cat. It only hurts a little at first, but the pain kinda builds up the longer the artist goes without stopping.

Right next to my hip bone felt kinda strange, like it was hitting a nerve or something. I can't even describe the sensation, but it was weird more than painful.

The rest of my stomach was not so bad. I couldn't really tell where he was unless I looked, and sometimes it felt like he was in a different spot than he was, which was weird. If I flexed my abs it hurt a lot more than when I relaxed and remembered to breathe. After my hip bone, my endorphins had kicked in and it still felt like scratching, but pleasant.

Down really low on my stomach felt really good haha, which was a bit embarrassing

Time flies by when you get tattooed. My artist said that women typically handle stomach tattoos much better than men. Talk to the artist or a friend to distract yourself, relax and breathe. It hurts, but it really isn't that horrible. You will probably enjoy the experience.

Where is a place to get a tattoo with out it looking strecthed/distorted if I become pregnant?
Q. When women has a tattoo on her stomach my friends would say "Oh that's not going to look pretty after she gives birth." So I know not the stomach. But what about every where else? When women become pregnant the body tends to gain weight all over so it would cause the tattoo to stretch right?

A. well most of ur upper body
arms ,neck or hands .. lower parts of ur legs , below ur knees

What are some "The Rose Tattoo" by Tennessee Williams quotes?

Q. I have to do a project for my English class & we just finished reading "The Rose Tattoo". In our project we need to include quotes which I tried finding on Google, but can't seem to find any good ones.

A. "A woman can be dignified in her grief but when it’s carried too far it becomes a sort of self-indulgence. Oh, I knew this was going to happen when you broke the church law and had your husband cremated!” ~ Father De Leo, The Rose Tattoo

“When he was shot at the wheel of the truck, it crashed and caught fire. But deliberate cremation is not the same thing. It’s an abomination in the sight of God.” ~ Father De Leo, The Rose Tattoo

Just as in our world, various societal components play a major part in the characters’ every day lives. Religion is one of these components, and is particularly influential in The Rose Tattoo.

Cremation, disposal of a corpse by fire, is an ancient tradition and is often followed by the family saving or burying the ashes. Serafina chose to use cremation rather than burial as a means to dispose of her husband’s body, even though at that time it was against catholic law. In 1917, the Code of Canon Law forbade cremation for Catholics, and it was prohibited until 1963, when it was allowed, only if it was not chosen as a sign of denial of Christian teaching. The Rose Tattoo was written in 1951; therefore Serafina was breaking the ordinance.

Since 1963, the Catholic Church has issued many statements and instructions, urging that “the practice of burying the bodies of the faithful is by all means to be kept,” and “the Church earnestly recommends that the pious custom of burying the bodies of the dead by observed.”

So, although it is permissible for Catholics to practice cremation, it is strongly frowned upon by church officials.

Reasons that the Catholic Church gives for disagreeing with cremation:
(from the Committee on the Liturgy, United States conference for Catholic Bishops)

ƒ the physical human body represents the experience of baptism
ƒ the human body is a temple of the Holy Spirit
ƒ “The body which lies in death recalls the personal story of faith, the past relationships, and the continued spiritual presence of the deceased person.”
ƒ the worship of ashes could be construed as idol worship

What is the name of the artist who paint pictures of roses on woman's bodies?
Q. I found this artist about a year ago and I cannot remember his name. He also does paintings of landscapes, but the ones that stick out in my mind are paintings of woman with roses on their bodies like tattoos and also going into the background. They were in paler colors mostly purples and pinks that I could remember. I would very much appreciate it if anyone knows who I'm talking about.

Guys: Would you think it bad if a girl has a tattoo sleeve?

Q. I know some guys like tattoos. And I know some guys don't. I was thinking about getting a half sleeve. Starting at the shoulder and stopping at my elbow. I'm not including any obscene images or vulgarity on my tattoo, just in case you're wondering. I've just always thought a tattoo sleeve would be a cool idea.

A. Gotcha. Colorfully done by an expert you trust, sleeves or half sleeves look great on girls, as well as guys. Since it's such an important consideration, you might try looking at some magazines down at the tattoo studio. Inked Magazine does specials every month on women and their tattoos... you want to find a style of art that really grabs you, something that when you see it, you go "That's what I like, and I'm gonna beat on doors till I find someone who does work like that!" Women are the fastest growing group of young people getting ink in the U.S. and the U.K. right now. Choose good stuff, you've got time. Take care.

What would you do if your child came home from college with a tattoo?
Q. I am 19 years old and I am going to get a tattoo soon. I really want it to run along my spine starting at my collar line and run down to just below my underwear band. It would be written in hebrew and would be about one inch thick. It would be the bible verse Ephesians 2:8- For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – (NIV)

What would you do if your child came home from college with a tattoo?

A. I think the question you really want an answer to is, What will your parents do? People on Yahoo can't answer that question. You can usually get an idea to that answer by feeling your parents out in a conversation. Casually, tell them about a friend, who recently got a tatoo, that you think looks cool and see what they say. Or go with somebody, that you heard is getting a tatoo and tell your parents about the experience, as a passing story. Sort of work it into the conversation smoothly. They will probably ask you if you are thinking about getting a tatoo and you can Say, "maybe, someday, I've thought about it". Their reaction will tell you what they will do, before you actually get the tatoo. Both of my older kids got tatoos. I'm not real happy about their decisions, but I never gave them a hard time about it. The only reason it bothered me, was the fact that they got them in places where it's hard to cover up (forearms for my son and upper back for my daughter). You have to think about your future and how your artwork will look during an interview. Tatoos on the neck, hands and lower arms, aren't the greatest places for professionals to have. For a woman the upper back isn't always the greatest if they have to wear a nice dress for some function. When you are young, you don't usually think of yourself as having a job where you have to look really sharp and professional. Maybe you will never have a job like that, but you should always look your best in a job interview, even if the job doesn't require much contact with the public. It doesn't mean your tatoos will keep you from getting a good job, but why affect your chances when you can get tatoos in so many places. You don't have to break certain lines, such as the collar line or the short sleeve shirt line. These are things that parents think about. My younger son will want one some day. I tell him to wear a short sleeve dress shirt or a nice polo shirt to the tatoo place. When they apply the stencil transfer, you can see if the tatoo will stick out, then you can get it somewhere else. That's all I ask. He understands this. His half brother regrets his tatoo that goes up to the back of his neck. He can tell when he goes to interviews, that people keep looking at it. I'm glad my younger boy understands this fact.

inappropriate or innocent an older 19yo girl slow danced with my 14yo son?

Q. My son was having a big party for his 14th birthday last weekend and during the evening I noticed a 19 year old friend of my daughters was slow dancing with my son. That wouldn't be a big deal, but the problem is she had her body pressed right up against his and the look on her face seemed like she badly wanted to make out with him, so I seperated them and told them to go cool off.

Now I'm wondering if I ruined my son's innocent fun, or did I do the right thing, it was inappropriate for a woman her age to slow dance like that with a boy who just turned 14 that day, and do you think a possible illegal situation was averted since I was there to stop it before things got hot and heavy?

where can i find a femanine dragon tattoo design??

Q. Hi I am getting a tattoo next week and I want a dragon that is femanine but still has the strong quality of a dragon to show that I am strong and feirse but also femanine. Does anyone know of any sites that I can get some pictures or something?

A. sorry but Dragons are never feminine.

It is like asking the same thing:

I want a feminie lion or tiger as a tattoo. These are all powerful symbols, animals, mystic creatures. Being powerful, you do not want it to look feminine. Life wise, a phoenix, though used by many women, there is nothing feminine about a phoenix either.

If you want strenght and character of a dragon, go all out and do japanese or chinese dragon and dont worry about femininity.

for that reason, you cannot have a hello kitty tattoo and make it macho.

:-)

What do you think is the best lyric or lyricist you have ever heard of?

Q. include the artist and lyric I dont care about type of music or how the song sounds so much. the two people i think are the best are elliote smith and (god help me but it's true) eminem.

heres my favorite, the best part is highlighted by asterisks, it means two things at once.

Drink up, baby, stay up all night
The things you could do, you won't but you might
The potential you'll be that you'll never see
The promises you'll only make
Drink up with me now and forget all about
The pressure of days, do what I say
And I'll make you okay and drive them away
The images stuck in your head
People you've been before that you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still
***Drink up, baby, look at the stars
I'll kiss you again between the bars ****
Where I'm seeing you there with your hands in the air
Waiting to finally be caught
Drink up one more time and I'll make you mine
Keep you apart, deep in my heart
Separate from the rest, where I like you the best
And keep the things you forgot
The people you've been before that you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still

A. Bob Dylan, maybe not the greatest thing he ever wrote but |'m really into this album at the moment.

'Changing Of The Guards' from STREET LEGAL.

Sixteen years,
Sixteen banners united over the field
Where the good shepherd grieves.
Desperate men, desperate women divided,
Spreading their wings 'neath the falling leaves.

Fortune calls. I stepped forth from the shadows, to the marketplace,
Merchants and thieves, hungry for power, my last deal gone down.
She's smelling sweet like the meadows where she was born,
On midsummer's eve, near the tower.

The cold-blooded moon.
The captain waits above the celebration
Sending his thoughts to a beloved maid
Whose ebony face is beyond communication.
The captain is down but still believing that his love will be repaid.

They shaved her head.
She was torn between Jupiter and Apollo.
A messenger arrived with a black nightingale.
I seen her on the stairs and I couldn't help but follow,
Follow her down past the fountain where they lifted her veil.

I stumbled to my feet.
I rode past destruction in the ditches
With the stitches still mending 'neath a heart-shaped tattoo.
Renegade priests and treacherous young witches
Who were handing out the flowers that I'd given to you.

The palace of mirrors
Where dog soldiers are reflected,
The endless road and the wailing of chimes,
The empty rooms where her memory is protected,
Where the angels' voices whisper to the souls of previous times.

She wakes him up
Forty-eight hours later, the sun is breaking
Near broken chains, mountain laurel and rolling rocks.
She's begging to know what measures he now will be taking.
He's pulling her down and she's clutching onto his long golden locks.

Gentlemen, he said,
I don't need your organization, I've shined your shoes,
I've moved your mountains and marked your cards
But Eden is burning, either get ready for elimination
Or else your hearts must have the courage for the changing of the guards.

Peace will come with tranquility and splendor on the wheels of fire
But will offer no reward when her false idols fall
And cruel death surrenders with its pale ghost retreating
Between the King and the Queen of Swords.

Can anyone recommend me a good book?

Q. i need something to read on a ten hour flight. i liked the twilight series, ender's game, bruce coville's books, the picture of dorian gray, anything oscar wilde, and some other things.
i do not like poetry.
i prefer something light and leaning towards fiction or fantasy.

thanks for all your help!

oh and if you could give me a very brief summary of the books you recommend i would appreciate it!

thanks again!

A. A Spell For Chameleon by Piers Anthony. Centers around a woman who cycles between being beautiful-and-stupid and smart-and-ugly. First of the Xanth series.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. A modern woman travels back in time to 18th century Scotland. First of the Outlander series.

Don't Die Dragonfly by Linda Joy Singleton. A girl with psychic powers is starting over in a new school and receives an urgent message for a girl with a dragonfly tattoo. First of The Seer series.

The Elephant Vanishes by Haruki Murakami. A set of surrealist short stories.

do you think tattoos on young girls/women are trashy?
Q. I honestly want to get a tattoo and have convinced myself that I don't care what others think. I want what I want, but am still having trouble deciding where to put it, because of possible career hinderances in the future. I want an elephant tattoo preferably above my left inner ankle bone. what do you think? opinions on tattoos in general

A. Well it really depends where and what you get done, that really determines if its trashy or not. I mean just above the butt crack or a butterfly or something...its just...people don't call them tramp stamps for no reason. But honestly tattoos are beautiful if they have a REAL meaning to them. If you want to get one you should, don't think about what others will say, however in saying that try to steer away from anything TOO prominent like getting a sleeve more times than most people who regret getting them.

Really think about something meaningful to get and think of a location that will add to its meaning, don't get a tattoo just for the sake of it.

What does a tattoo of a butterfly on your lower back signify?

Q. I just seen people with tattoos of butterflies on their back and i wondered if it meant something or if it didn't.

A. The meanings of tattoo's change over the years and vary between the different kinds og groups of people who like them. When I was younger, Birds and butterfly's meant you were free and didn't keep one steady boyfriend. To the bikers and rockers, it meant loose or slut, to the goth's black butterfly's meant seditive like sleep heroin...or drugs ect... They mean different things to different people I have both birds and butterflies. Ever hear that Tori Amos song "Butterflies?" It's about a woman who only sleeps with men who are not clingy or easily attached. So use your judgement and get what you want...If you do it for anyone else, you'll never do it at all.

My favorite tattoos are snowflakes... I just got them recently I got them because to me... They mean that no two are alike, I got three small ones and in the center of each one I have my 2 son's initials and my partners intials in the larger of the three.

What does it represent when a woman has a tattoo on her ankle?
Q. I've known two people with this. First was my sixth grade teacher, she had a butterfly tattooed there. Then it was my therapist. I recently saw hers, couldn't see what it was clearly. An answer from an old question said that it meant that they were a lesbian. Is that true? Or is it because they work in respectable places so they can't show tattoos anywhere else but the ankle?

A. It doesn't mean anything other than they like tattoos. I have one on my ankle and 5 other ones in places ranging from my hips, neck, and arm. None of them can be seen unless I want them to be seen.

Help designing a tattoo AND all the information i should know before I get one?

Q. I need major help on designing a tattoo. I was wondering if there are any great artists out there to help me out? Or just explain to me how I should get one? I'm thinking I want a cross OR my favorite quote 'If you can make it through the night, there is a brighter day'. How should I get these done? All opinons are helpful. First timer in the tattoo category. Help?

A. well as it's your first time here, welcome. first off, let me offer you advice on the tattoo you want to get. you want a cross or a quote? well why not incorporate the quote into the cross if you're having a hard time deciding. you could have a ribbon encircling the cross with the quote on it. once you've decided what you'd like, you can have a tattoo artist draw it for you, or if you like i could draw a sketch. i recently drew one for a woman here and she sent a picture of it when she got it done. if you want me to, just send me a message from my answers profile. good luck!

edit: and yes, i WILL 'waste my time' doing it for free. it's what i'm good at and i love doing it, so why charge people that just need a little help.

What's with all the tattoo haters answering questions about tattoos?
Q. Tattoo are a beautiful way to decorate your house :)
I meant house....................................... as in the skin you live in

A. Keep on decorating. they more the merrier! My house is beautifully decorated with six very expensive pieces of art work. I think that "hating" is ignorance. People hate most that which they do not understand. It's also a way for them to voice their opinion. Who else are you gonna complain and b***h to about tats, except those who have them already. I think it's crazy. Tattoos are not the mark of the devil. They've been around much longer than modern religion. In fact, they were once a mark of status and honor. It's a personal choice to get one. I think my art is beautiful. It's very representative of me as a woman, wife and mother. I have a flaming blue rose (strength & honor and courage), celtic runes for strength and journey, a Brazilian & an Americana butterfly (small things cause bigs changes), a dragonfly (wild and free spirit, the power of light. The dragonfly inhabits two realms: air and water and passes the influence of both these elements to the wearer), a fairy (personification of human wishes and desire in the form of little people with magical powers. As a tattoo design they can be symbols of youthful innocence and a desire to retain a child-like imagination, wonder and awe) and a vampire in the shape of a cross (strength & protection for evil doers, religion personnified). For people who hated it, they just don't understand it.

Im looking for a photographer in las vegas who specializes or prefers photographing plus size women.?

Q. Im wanting to break into the plus size model world. Need to find an agencie, makeup artist and a photographer I live on the north size of vegas.

A. Visit the plus size modeling board at www.curvychick.com - you'll find plenty of legitimate advice specific to plus size models there.

You don't need professional shots if you're walking into an agency for an open call - go with some polaroids and/or candid shots that are well-lit and that show you without tons of makeup. Agents want to see YOU and what your potential might be. IF there is any interest, you'll be directed to shoot with a photog that the agency has worked with before (and you will pay for the shoot, not the agency).

You need to be at least 5'8", be between sizes 8-16 and have great hair, skin, teeth, be photogenic, be well-proportioned and toned and have few or no tattoos or stretchmarks in order to be marketable in this industry.

Good luck!

What does it take to be a plus size model?
Q. How tall do you have to be and what is the average size of a plus size model?

Who do you contact to get started?

A. I'm here to help you a little and get you pointed in the right direction.

There are requirements for plus size models, whether you're a teen or older. They include height and size restrictions. They are as tough for plus size models as they are for straight size ones. You need to be at least 5’8” (5’10” is preferable in the bigger markets like NYC, Miami, L.A., etc.) and fall between sizes 8 and 16/18. Yes, plus sizes start at size 8 as far as agencies are concerned. You need to be well-proportioned, toned and in good shape, have great skin, hair and teeth, and be quite photogenic - let's not forget - we're talking about MODELING. It also helps if you have few, if any, tattoos.

If you have these things going for you, I encourage you to attend an open call at an agency near you that represents plus size models You can find a local one by calling agencies that are listed in your local yellow pages and asking if they rep plus size girls, and then asking when their plus size open calls occur. You will need to get in front of an agent who will determine your marketability in this industry and advise you accordingly. Walk in wearing light makeup, simple but well-fitting clothing, and lose the high heels - they will know how tall you are so don't try to fudge it. Bring some simple shots of yourself that show your face and your full body - they don't need to be professional shots. They will look at your photos and will see your potential without all the makeup. You may be measured on the spot, or asked to be photographed in your underwear, so get rid of your inhibitions NOW.

You need to be in or near a large market – smaller towns don’t normally have modeling agencies, let alone plus size divisions. Your competition knows where to go, and they are going there, believe me. You can be stunningly beautiful, but if you can’t make it to an open call or casting because you live too far away and cannot travel at the drop of a hat, you definitely have a strike against you. Your competition is thrilled to know that you don't have the money for a bus ticket or that your car is in the shop - means more opportunity for them!

If you are marketable, the agent will ask you to do several test shoots that you have to pay for, so please be ready to spend money and time developing your look. Agencies do not typically pick up these fees – the model must do so. (You will need to spend money to get your career off the ground - modeling is not a get-rich-quick career. If you have kids and/or school to finish, you need to plan how you're going to balance it all.)

You may be asked to cut/trim/color your hair, get manicures and pedicures and to hit the gym before the shoot. You will be given a list of photographers that you can call to schedule a shoot, and you will pay them directly. A good agency will never ask for money directly – it’s a transaction between you and the photog. If you want to get the most out of your test shoots, you should hire a makeup artist, hair stylist and fashion stylist to work on the shoot with you.

When your shots come back, your potential agent will see if you have what it takes, and then she/he will submit your photos to clients and see what kind of response you get. They usually submit a comp card, which is a collection of photos that you need to pay for, to the clients to get their feedback. There are no guarantees, and you will only work if clients like/need your look.

You can visit the plus size modeling thread at www.curvychick.com and get advice from working models, photographers, stylists, makeup artists and others within the industry. Take any support you get with a grain of salt - there are plenty of women who will say that you've "got it," but they usually just want to be nice and not have a hand in dashing your dreams. I personally don't want a hand in misleading anyone. AND if someone says you don't really have it, don't take it personally - you're not being judged as a person, not on your looks, but on your marketability - if you can't take the heat you should find another career.

Best of luck!

when looking for occupation as a mechanical engineer, what matters most to an employer?

Q. is it the university you went to or is it what type of person you are? right now im in high school looking at colleges and i also want to know which university i actually have a chance at getting into thats the best for that major. my high school gpa is about a 3.6 and im also involed in sports and clubs and im also a junior

A. Most important is the impressions you make at your job interview. It's been shown that the first 90 seconds is crucial. There's a number of automatic dis-qualifiers for most companies (though they'll typically deny it): earrings on men (or ear-holes — nobody is fooled...), facial hardware, tattoos, tobacco smell, ill-fitting suits, non prestige accents, cultural insensitivity (Indian/Pakistani men and women often lose out because of head-bobbing affectations, nose-rings, bindi/tilaki, etc). Yes, it may not be fair, but that's the way it is...

To get to the interview, the biggest factor is your GPA. The university name does count, but if the employer has come to your school to interview, then your school's eligibility is not in question.

I know that when I was interviewing for entry-level engineers, we would draw up a list of about ten schools (two weeks of interviewing). These were not necessarily the elite Engineering schools. Then select students to interview based on their resumes. GPA was the biggest factor, followed by whatever else caught our eye on the resume, prizes in Engineering contests, evidence of wide interests or learning (for me, anyone taking Philosophy, Latin, or Russian Literature automatically got an interview).

I have a question regarding God's commands in the Old Testament; can anyone help?
Q. Levitus and other Old Testament books have so many rules. It even talks about not getting tattoos(Levitus19:28)! Do they apply anymore, since we have the New Testament now?

A. The Law against tattoos was put there because God wanted His people to be separated from the pagans around them who would do things like trim their beards in a certain way and get tattoos as part of their "dressing up" for their pagan worship ceremonies.

While God still calls His people to be separated from pagans, things like tattoos have to be understood in the cultural contest of why the law was given. It's like I don't think God wants His children to get tattoos of skulls or naked women because that wouldn't be a good representation to the world of the values of a child of the living God of Heaven.

As to the different laws in the Old Testament, all of the moral laws are still in full effect because they represent God's unchanging plan for how the people that He made in His image are to conduct themselves on His planet.

The sacrificial, ceremonial, and holiness laws which were meant to be outward symbols of the inner holiness that God desires His people to exhibit have all been fulfilled by the Lord Jesus and the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

Matthew 15:16 So Jesus said, "Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. 16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

Hebrews 10:1 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect...11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

Christians are now under the Law of Love

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'

Romans 13:9 For the commandments, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY," "YOU SHALL NOT MURDER," "YOU SHALL NOT STEAL," "YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS," "YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

what do people think about white girls with a chinese goddess tattoo?

Q. I am getting a Chinese goddess on my back, the goddess is based on the book beautiful women, and the imagery is stunning as will my tattoo be, what do most people think about white people (females) getting chinese or Japanese inspired goddess/geisha tattoos? you never see a chinese girl with a Celtic arm band. do you all thin it is sexy, dishonorable, art lover
thanks
no I am not trying to be a harajuku girl or anything like that lol I just happen to love the art in this book and the goddess has great meaning to me

A. I can't answer for what Chinese people would think - but if easterners were getting tattoos inspired by my culture I think I would find it flattering if anything, if it was a good piece of work! I wouldn't think anything less of you for having it, particularly if you have an appreciation for the culture and the art. It's much better than all the teenagers getting (usually incorrect) Kanji symbols just for the hell of it when they have no understanding or particular affinity to the culture their tattoo comes from. I know those kind of tattoos are often the butt of many oriental's jokes, moreso because they almost always have the wrong meaning! At the end of the day, most tattoo styles have their roots in one culture or another, even if we don't realise it. Pin up girl tattoos are traditionally American but I know a lot of British people with them, for example! I go on a tattoo forum and recently there was a guy on there ranting on about how it was so disrespectful and pathetic how non-maori's often had maori tattoos (he was from new zealand) and that how his tattoo was better because it had no meaning it was just a 'popular pattern', until I pointed out that his tattoo was celtic and had it's roots in scotland, wales and ireland, at which point he shut up! Anyway, as long as you're happy with the design and the meaning it holds for you then the opinions of others are totally irrelevant!

What do you look for as a design on a t-shirt?
Q. What subjects are you fond of? Do you have a favorite book (Twilight, Pride and Prejudice) or a favorite movie that you would sport quotes from on your shirt? What colors and styles of designs do you like?

A. As someone in the graphic design field, I tend to buy graphic t-shirts that either have something remarkable about them (some of Ecko Unltd's tees do it for me), something that expresses a mood or feeling I can relate to, or something I am fond of (such as Japanese mythology and animals like the koi fish and lion).

I am not really fond of the grungy Medieval designs which seem to be really popular such as Affliction. However, I bought two of their t-shirts last year, because I liked the line they had by Japanese tattoo artist Horiyoshi III and their bamboo line caught my eyes. The softness of 70% bamboo and 30% cotton aside, they have a tee that illustrates a woman with wings with her hands together in prayer looking up and supposedly crying. The words "affliction" on that tee meant more to me than they would one one of their shirts with a grim reaper or two skulls.

Right now I am wearing a simple white t-shirt with a diamond shape -- similar to that of a construction sign -- and the words "OUT THERE" with an arrow pointing up to the neck hole inside of the shape.

Since I am light skinned, I tend to buy fabric colors in white, black, heather gray, or shades of blue. As far as the ink colors used in the design, I am open to pretty much anything. I have a white Ecko shirt with the rhino running through what appears to be a city-like jungle. There are grays in the rhino and browns in the monkey hanging from a lamp post, but there are also saturated colors in the vines and leaves and also in the parrots shown in the illustration. I also have a black shirt I picked up in Louisiana when I stopped at Rue21. It is a simple black tee that has argyle stars with paint splatter. The two colors used are two I would never think of wearing before: rose pink and bright green.

I find myself carefully picking graphic shirts these days, because a lot of people seem to be big on wearing a company name, number, or band on their tee. Who can blame them though since that are most of the designs I see in stores. I have nothing against that though, because the people who wear those shirts know how to make it look nice more times than not.

What does everyone think of tattoos on the side of the arm?

Q. I have been wanting a tattoo similar to Sahar from the Real World New Orelans and Elina from ANTM cycle 11. I think it looks delicate and feminine, but I don't know if it will always look good. What do you think?

A. I think their tattoos are really good and they will always look good. But I would like to recommend you some other tattoo designs because tattoo designs must be unique, you don't need to copy their tattoo. If you are looking for some feminine & delicate tattoo designs then in my view butterfly and fairy look good on arms. Let's see on this girl having a wonderful tattoos of butterfly on her arm. we think Both women and butterflies have wonderful, curvy forms. They both have delicate, soft texture and are very pleasing to the eye. Tattoo of butterflies can be any size is also important.

What is your view on women with tattoos?
Q. I work for Raven Tattoo Care, a tattoo aftercare product, and only hear one side of the story, people who have made tattooing their life! Big tattoos on the calves, on the shoulder, the low back - do you think they are pretty and make a girl/woman look more attractive or not? You can guess where I stand on the issue, but I am curious what the general population thinks - does this make you look differently at the person, as if they are lower class/trashy - or do you see it as something beautiful, a work of art, an expression of who the person is? Just interested in opinions.

A. as someone who also works in the business i get to see both opinions, and agree that both are right. There are women out there who are simply trailer trash and have a tramp stamp on their lower back simply to make people look at their ass (in my opinion most v shaped flash tribal down there is simply an arrow). I do see that as an expression of who they are, trashy.

However there are others, myself included, who have a true piece of artwork on their back. The style i have looks like the flowers are airbrushed on and people always want to touch it to see if its actually real or not. Never has anyone called it trashy. i dont see it as a personal expression of anything because i didnt get it to say ive got a tattoo there or even because i like that design more than anything in the world. It was a gift from my mentor and it was more a bonding experience than anything else. i dont think it makes me any different a person than i was before.

What to wear to a business interview?

Q. im a college student and need a little guidance on what to wear to an accounting interview (especially the shoes, what height heel is appropiate?) for a major accounting firm such as pricewaterhousecoopers LLP and kpmg LLP??

A. You are required to wear some sort of "business" attire. This consists of a blouse (perhaps light colored or white) with a suit or pant suit (I personally prefer a woman in the skirt suit that falls somewhere between 2 inches above and 2 inches below the knees.

The website link below provides a more current list of what to wear and not to wear for interviews:

Women's Interview Attire

* Solid color, conservative suit
* Coordinated blouse
* Moderate shoes (heels 2 inches or less for women)
* Limited jewelry
* Neat, professional hairstyle
* Tan or light hosiery
* Sparse make-up & perfume
* Manicured nails
* Portfolio or briefcase

If you're in doubt about how to dress for an interview, it is best to err on the side of conservatism. It is much better to be overdressed than underdressed (or undressed).

What not to wear:

1. Carrying a backpack or fannypack or purse

2. Sunglasses on top of your head or headphones around your neck: Be sure to remove all your "transit gear" and tuck it in your briefcase before entering the lobby.

3. Too-short skirts: Forget what some of those gals on 'The Apprentice' are wearing. Your skirt should cover your thighs when you are seated.

4. The wrong tie: Ties should be made of silk, no less than three and a quarter inches wide with a conservative pattern. Image consultants say the best colors are red or burgundy.

5. Overly bright or large-patterned clothing: With the possible exception of creative fields like advertising or computer programming, it's best to stick with navy, black or gray.

6. Heavy makeup on women (or any makeup on a man)

7. Earrings on men: In fact, men should avoid wearing any jewelry unless it is a wedding ring, class ring or metal watch.

8. More than one set of earrings on women

9. Facial piercings, tongue jewelry or visible tattoos

10. Ill-fitting clothes. Few people can wear things straight off the rack. Spending a little extra to have your garments tailored is a worthwhile investment.

11. Long fingernails, especially with bright or specialty polishes. Nails should look clean and be trimmed to a length that doesn't leave an observer wondering how you keep from stabbing yourself.

12. Unnatural hair colors or styles. Remember, Donald Trump was a billionaire well before he began wearing a comb-over. If you're balding, try a close-cropped cut like Bruce Willis or Matt Lauer.

13. Short-sleeved shirts, even worse when worn with a tie

14. Fishnets, patterned hosiery or bare legs (no matter how tan you are). Women should stick with neutral color hosiery that complements their suit.

15. Men whose socks don't match their shoes, or whose socks are too short and leave a gap of flesh when they are seated

16. Rumpled or stained clothing: If interviewing late in the day, try to change to a fresh suit beforehand.

17. Scuffed or inappropriate footwear, including sneakers, stilettos, open-toed shoes and sandals

18. Strong aftershaves, perfumes or colognes: Many people are allergic to certain scents. For a subtle fragrance, use a good quality bath soap.

19. Belts and shoes that don't match: Shoes and belts should be made of leather or leather-like materials and the best colors for men are black or cordovan.

20. Telltale signs that your wearing a new suit. Remove all tags and extra buttons -- and remember to cut off the zigzag thread that keeps pockets and slits closed!

Don't be a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. Plan and lay out what you're going to wear several days before the interview, so you'll have time to shop or get garments pressed and cleaned.

Save "innovative" or revealing garb for the club (or your couch) and strive for crisp, clean and professional. Remember, you want the interviewer to be listening to what you're saying, not critiquing what you're wearing.

What your honst opinion for chicks with sleve tattoos?
Q.

A. One well done three-quarter sleeve makes an already attractive woman look exotic. A full sleeve looks good too, but I have a special fondness for the three quarter sleeve. They look very ladylike. They show forethought, planning and good judgment.. That's my honest opinion, since you asked. Take good care.

What is a good drug store dye to turn hair from naturally black to blonde?

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Q. I bleached my hair recently and now it's caused my scalp to blister. Is this normal or have I had and allergic reaction?

A WOMAN was temporarily blinded when her face swelled up "like a football" following what she told was a severe reaction to hair dye.
Carmen Rowe, 25, from Swansea was hospitalised for three days after using the Clairol 'Nice n' Easy' natural black colour. She said: "I lost my job, all for the sake of a glamorous hairstyle. I just want to warn parents what could happen." She claimed she carried out a skin test 48 hours before using the dye without a problem and has been colouring her hair since she was 13. March 3, 2012.
Example of one who's hair is falling and stopped growing from YA!:
"my hair had been bleached many times and can't grow past a certain length
its also falling out . i stopped bleaching it.
i just need to add lenght! but if i can stop it from falling out..that be great too"

What kind of tattoo should I get on my index finger?

Q. I am a woman w/no tattoos. I have always wanted one and saw the one Rhianna had that says "Shhh" written down her finger. I like it, but don't want to be a copy cat. I am Italian and would like something to represent my heritage. Any ideas?

A. First person has hit the nail on the head. I would love to know how often she has to get that tattoo touched up, finger tattoos especially on the side or underneath fade and blur horribly due to constant wear and tear. I guarantee she (and the two other celebrities with the exact same tattoo) will end up having it removed by laser surgery because the letters are so small, there's no way it will last long all factors considered. Not just this, but short of wearing gloves you will have no way to cover the tattoo, and you'll find that a great deal of employers will not consider employing you with such a tattoo. Even if you're in a career now in which it's acceptible, remember there is no such thing particularly in the current climate as job security. There are a huge number of areas on your body to play around with but honestly that's one I'd leave alone.

What do you guys think of this tattoo idea?
Q. I was thinking of getting "All the World's a Stage" somewhere on my body.
Should I just get like the words written in old school font or should I get like a picture??
I want it like the one Craig Owens has from Chiodos.
Not because I think it's cool its because i just LOVE that song and his music has helped me through the hradest time in my life.
And I want to honor it.

A. Get an old school font - but make sure the font isn't to boldface or chunky. It has to be graceful and unique in order to grace a woman's frame.

Also, I think that would be cool over the top of your back - above your shoulderblades!

Botched eyebrow tattoos. How do you lie to the person wearing them?

Q. I posted earlier, but no response. My family member a woman in her 60's just got her eyebrows tattooed. Darker then her natural shade, and in a bizarre shape, they make her look mad!

I have been asked over and over again, what do I think. I am terrified that my face will let her know I think it's rediculous looking.. how can I be sure that I can pull off a white lie.

A. Just picture her naked. The sheer horror of picturing a family member naked will distract you from her crazy-brows, therefore making it easier to lie directly to her face.

What do women think of eyebrow piercings?
Q. Just had my left eyebrow pierced and really like it! Would prefer women to answer this question. Thanks!

A. Ugly. For me, it is associated with other things I don't like, such as drugs, tattoos, smoking etc..
