Can someone please answer a couple questions about tattoo please?

Q. So before people say anything, I'm not getting the tattoo until I am 18, which is in two months. I been wanting a tattoo for a few years now, even though my parents would kill me if they found out. Anyways I'm first going to show you the tattoo I want so that you can answer my questions.
http://www.tattoobite.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/women-butterfly-tiger-tattoos-designs.jpg
Okay so the first question would be how much money should that cost?
The next one is can the tattoo artist make it just like that, because I have seen other images and I don't like them like I like that one because it looks realistic.
Also, I want to put it on my lower back center. Is that a good spot, and how is that area for tattooing when it comes to pain?
(I don't want the flowers around the butterfly, I just want the Tiger Butterfly).
Thanks for answering my questions. (:
Actually I do want the flowers there I'm just not sure about it because if you look at the picture, the girl's tattoo is slanted and i want mine going straight across my lower back (horizontally). So if you think it would look good going straight across from the wings (one side of the wings to the other) let me know cause I would do that, instead of it going slanted vertically.

A. Without color & light shading at the shop I go to that would be around $150-200, price usually depends on the shop & quality of the artist's work. I can't give a price for color because I have black ink.

The lower back is a large area & shading hurts like a mother. Areas with little fat, or are bone-y like your feet, knees, wrist, etc. usually hurt more than other places. Some people say the opposite, I guess it depends on you.

Like you, I thought over the idea of getting a tattoo for years, to me the pain was worth it.

A talented tattoo artist can make that easily, they can alter it too if you want to make it unique.

What tattoo symbolizes strength and independence?
Q. i want a new tattoo but im not sure what the symbol iss, can somebody helpp? and jus answer the question i already have tattoos and they all have meaning

A. How about a Dragon, Panther, Or Tiger.

It's what it means to you that counts such as a woman i saw with a butterfly tattoo that symbolized the passing on of one of her family, to me first glance i thought butterfly, freedom, etc. but to the person that gets it it can take on various meanings and hold memories.

Just a realization I had.

What do the dots on an Indian woman's chin mean?

Q. What do the dots (3 or 4 in a triangle or diamond pattern) on the chin of a Hindu or Muslim woman (I am not sure which she was) mean? I think they were tattooed on not just make-up.

I tried doing a Google search, but all the answers came up related to bindis on the forehead or Maori chin tattoos but not dots on the chin of South-Asian women.

A. I do NOT know about MUSLIMS.Only Muslims can Answer.

In Hindus --in small babies chins--NOT of a Woman--a "Black" dot using caramalised rice powder, used to be put. That is called "Dhrishti" in Sanskrit and "Nazar" in Hindi.

It is just a "Belief"--many people, when they see a small baby might feel that the baby is "Cute"--beautiful/handsome--smart etc. This "Sight" (Dhrishti) might affect the child's health etc.Just to "Ward-off" any Negative Effects they put this "Black" dot, which they "believe" will work.

What is the significance of having a small tattoo on the hand in the area between the thumb and index finger?

Q. I work with an older woman who has a very small roundish tattoo on the side of her hand. I've never gotten a close up look but I could swear I'd seen that before somewhere else. I want to say it signifies something but I can't for the life of me remember. Anyone know what it means? I would ask the woman but from what I can tell she's a fairly private woman and I wouldn't want to offend anyone.

A. Hold ur head high , Walk up to her , smile, and speak with respect
and with purpose in your voice. The old are always willing to teach
the young . If she is Jewish , it may be from the German prison .
YOU GO GIRL . You won't offend her if u ask about her tattoo.
HEY if by chance you do ,,,,,, She is not a woman but a bit$h .
I don't think she really is. Never be shy in life . Do u hear me ????

Why do women find my tattoo offensive?
Q. I can't figure out why women find my tattoo so offensive. The tattoo is on the palm of my right hand and it says "Captain Slapaho" in big cursive blue letters. It's just my individual expression. How come women always get so mad when they see it?

A. pics or it didn't happen :]

Tattooed women, Do you have any tattoos on your ankle/leg? If not then why? Is a sleeve better on arm or leg?

Q. This made me curious ever since I read someone else's similar questions. I have tattoos on each side of my ankle and just assumed that it never looked bad or bothered anyone, since I've gotten all compliments. I never understood though why people are saying that tattoos on the leg only look right on "certain" women who know how to pull off that look. What does that mean? I like the way a leg sleeve looks (a small one) + it can easily be concealed when needed. Also, why would anyone think it looks too masculine for a women to tattoo her leg.- Most guys I see have their arms & back, not their legs!
Thanks!

A. I have a tattoo on my ankle. It doesn't quite go all the way around and I do plan on finishing it, as well as getting one on my other ankle. For me, I would get my legs covered before my arms. It's easier to cover if you need to do so. I wear jeans most of the year anyway, so it would be less likely to fade.

To each their own. Put your tattoos where you want them, not where other people think they should be.

Comparing the pain of a tattoo to childbirth?
Q. I was a little curious, I hear women comparing tattoos to childbirth constantly, and was wondering which is really more painful? I have a tattoo on my neck, and I was just curious. Thanks! :)

Oh & by the way, I know it's a totally different 'kind' of pain, but I thought women compared them so much because they both have good outcomes, something you're looking forward to. (Of course, a baby is MUCH more to look forward to than a tattoo!) Haha.

A. I have never had a tattoo so I can't really say, but I cannot imagine how a large muscle contraction could be compared to a tiny, localized pain of a needle / scratching / burning feeling.

I usually compare the pain of contractions with the burning and pain you feel when a muscle does hard work, like your legs if you ran a marathon. This, coupled with the low back achy cramp of intense menstrual pain.

The birth itself (crowning) if you don't have any local anesthetic or epidural is referred to as the "ring of fire" for a reason, as there is an intense burning when the tissue starts to stretch. But endorphins and adrenaline kick in shortly and help dull the sensation, as well as the blood supply to the nerves gets cut off from the stretch. And you're so excited that you're so close by that point that you're just focused on getting that baby out, so the distraction helps dull pain too.

What is with the current trend of women getting wrist tattoos?
Q. Almost every actress or every other woman I see in public these days has some kind of tacky/trashy wrist tattoo, Why is this such a hot trend these days and am I the only one who thinks they look trashy?

A. I agree, they've become so common. Like a permanent "trendy" bracelet.

Would a tattoo on the wrist be detrimental to ones career?

Q. I've been wanting a (non-offensive) tattoo on my wrist for the longest time. It would either be totally around the wrist, or on the underside of it.

However, I am curious if others think it will be detrimental to my career. I work with computers currently, but plan on going to school to pursue a career as a veterinarian. My idea is that, when absolutely needed, the wrist tattoo can be covered with a watch, bracelet, or long sleeves.

What do you think?

A. I have done my share of hiring over the years. I won't hire anyone, man or woman, that has a tattoo..unless they show on their resume that they were in the military and the tats in questions shows their affiliation to their military service (ie: anchors and daggers on sailers, or an eagle and globe on a Marine). All others with trendy tats are thanked for their time and are not offered jobs. Period.

How can liberals claim to support women's rights when they supported Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy?
Q. Bill Clinton sexually harassed women and was accused of rape. Ted Kennedy killed a woman by driving drunk and letting her drown.

Why were they given a pass by the left?

A. Nice try. Here is the GOP platform:

Fake outrage and loud noises! Very large pants! Tattoo of bald eagle with Budweiser can in its talon on chest! Anti-tax rally in the middle of the work day! Women in the kitchen!
-A. Republican

How much important is to learn history?

Q. I totally suck at history. And I want some reasons or motivations to learn history. I'm taking this US history college class and I think I'm going to flunk it. I kind of need to pass the class. Is it worth it? I mean history lovers. Write about your passion in history and why?

Everytime I read something about history my head hurts and start to get dizzy (only at history class). Words such as war, governement, politcs, presidents bore the hell out of me.

Motivate me, and motivate others.

A. Yes, it is definitely worth it. I am passionate about history and I do agree that basic US history is pretty boring because you are basically learning the same information you learned in high school. However, I loved alternative history classes like Women in American History, a two part class that focused on women's issues and history, Material Culture, where I learned about history through objects like clothing, silverware and tombstones- what can the objects of the past tell us? I am passionate about the subject because of these, and many other alternative history classes that I took because I learned history from a new perspective and learned about what I was interested in. Also, the research papers I was required to write for the classes allowed me to focus on such neat topics as using objects like tattoo needles and sea chests to explain how the average seaman lived on a whaling vessel between 1820-1840 and how Queen Victoria contributed to Victorian mourning practices.
It is very important to learn about our country's history so that you can know how the past affects the present. I would suggest that you find a history class that interests you. There are so many types of history classes available- ancient, women's, military, gender studies, film (I took a class on Oliver Stone and his version of the Cold War- I got to watch movies in class and learn about the Cold War!), material, ethnic history like African-American, era-specific (Colonial, Revolutionary War, Victorian), geographic (French, Mexican, etc.), social (LGBT, Vietnam War-era counterculture), etc.
Don't let a boring US history class ruin history for you- explore your options (as well as your College's/University's course catalog) before you give up the subject. Read books about the history of unconventional subjects- I just finished a history of the New World told through stories about ten different rum drinks!

Is it a bad sign when I listen to Britney Spears and I feel I can relate to the music?
Q. *sings*

I'm not a girl
Not yet a woman
all I need is time
a moment that is mine....
while I'm in between...

I'm not a girl don't tell what to believe
I'm just trying to find the woman in me yeah!

A. No that's alright. The thought is very authentic and well put.

Now if you start liking Britney's music as a whole, the folks at Tioga might start sizing you up for a trailer, or maybe a double wide. You'll get "complimentary" tickets to the local tractor pull, maybe even a NASCAR race. You'll get mail order catalogs of body jewelry and tattoo designs.

Sophrosune my Greek pet, moderation in all things.

How will it affect the tattoo?

Q. I'm five foot ten inches tall and a size 16 in women's pants. I wish to get a tattoo covering about 85-90% of my back. If I were to lose weight, or have a child, how would that affect the tattoo? It will be a very detailed tattoo. Will it shrink if I lost some weight and will a pregnancy mess it up? Thanks for your time and help.
264357143 is love- I can still donate blood with a tattoo, I'll just have to wait six months to a year in between. Plus in Revalations it states that Jesus comes back with "King of Kings, Lord of Lords" on his thigh.

A. The only way it will shrink is if you shrink. You're a 16, not a big girl hun. When I think of tattoos becoming distorted by losing weight or gaining weight, I think of losing or gaining hundreds of pounds. Tattoos won't shrink, but, they can look funny in skin folds of large people who lose large amounts of weight. Don't worry about it, a size 16 isn't large. Having a child, that may affect your tattoo more than losing weight. When you have a baby you develop stretch marks, which can appear in the design of the tattoo, and cause the skin to look thinner, which makes the tattoo look like it has faded or lost color. Your back though, I wouldn't worry so much about the weight gain in the back as I would about the belly area. You'll be fine, go ahead and get the tattoo, and enjoy every second of it!!! That's a large commitment, and it will change your life! I say for the better, so for for it!!!

What's your opinion of hand and neck tattoos?

Q. Some people say tattoos that can't be covered even with a long sleeve (like hand and neck tattoos) are unprofessional and job killers.

So to people who love and have tattoos... what do YOU think about hand and neck tattoos? Is that over doing it? Are there limits to tattoos?

A. I have my knux, the back of my right hand, and throat tattooed. Then again, I'm a body piercer, I'm in an industry that ENCOURAGES outrageous body modification. *I* think the hands and neck are perfectly legitimate areas to be tattooed, society, however, does not.

My father used to say "Stick to the Yakuza mentality." meaning only get tattoos that could be covered for a professional career. I can understand why professional business employers wouldn't be attracted to hand and neck tattoos, but I think it is a form of discrimination. Although, if one were meeting a fellow business person, or a current or potential employer/superior, and extended his or her hand that had a giant rose (or shark or what-have-you) on it for a handshake, I can see how that might be sending the wrong message.

Don't get me wrong, you don't have to be in the body modification industry to be successful and have more "controversial" tattoo work. I know journalists and chefs and doctors and even a couple business men and women that have tattoos on their necks or hands or knuckles, so progress is being made. It's just a question of what kind of image you wish to convey out in public. For the time being, at least, tattoos that can't be covered by a suit and tie have taken up the stereotype ALL tattoos represented; tattoos used to be almost exclusively gang or freak/delinquent related (workingmen and sailors worked in "gangs," it's not just a modern term for young people that like to cause trouble and senselessly kill each other).

Sorry about the novel up there.^ I'm a get a little bit passionate and ranty about body modification, sometimes.

If a woman has tattoos in Japan, is it looked down upon?
Q. I'm half Japanese, and this year I plan on getting several tattoos and hopefully a sleeve done. I'm going to be visiting Japan with my mom for the first time in 10 years and I just want to know if I will be looked down upon?

A. Not really. But if you have several visible tattoos, some old people might find you bothering especially if you visit rural towns and cities. If you stay in Tokyo, there wouldn't be much of a problem. Alot of young people now are sporting tattoos and associating it with art. Although the yakuza stigma might be very hard to avoid.
I'm a Japanese woman too and I have 1 star tattoo on my wrist.

What are the different "rules" to your church or religion?

Q. I'm not asking what you believe. I know Christians all have different rules to their churches, and I'm wondering if it's the same for all religions? And does it bother you?
I'll give an example.
Seventh Day Adventist
Church and Sabbath is Sat.
They don't eat Pork
They do a foot washing for communion
They don't like tattoos, smoking, excessive jewelry, music with drums... etc.

What are the different "rules" for you?
other Christians, Jewish Muslims, Pagans, Buddhists, Wiccans (?), Jehovah's Witnesses, etc.

A. I am Pentecostal and all of our "rules" are all Bible based.
Our women do not wear men's apparel, neither do the men wear women's garments (Deut. 22:5), Woman and girls do not cut (nor trim) their hair or bangs (I Corinthians, I Peter, etc.), and the men do not have long uncut hair. Most of our men do shave their facial hair, and most of our women do shave their legs and underarm hair though there is no scripture for either of those practices. Some churches that I have attended required the women to wear their hair up, if they were to be on the platform. Other churches I have attended, required the women to wear their hair down, as it is their glory and a covering. Most of our churches forbid having television and movies in the home. Some are allowing internet and computer videos and DVD's. The basis for the no tv is in Psalms (I will set no wicked thing before my eyes..). We obey the WORD as it states to come out from among them (the world) and be ye seperate saith the Lord.

What is the best way for a woman to remove facial hair? Laser treatment of some sort?
Q.

A. Laser hair removal is great but only works on dark hair and is very expensive. Here's my experiences with it in case it helps you any =)

Okay... science answer:

You grow in at least 80% of your hair during puberty. When you have laser hair removal the hairs it kills will never grow again. But you still have up to 20% of your normal thickness that will grow in throughout the rest of your life. So people get touch up sessions every 3-5 years after their big 6 treatments. You need about 6 treatments, one each 2 months for a year, because the hair grows in different stages and it can only kill hair in the active growth stage. The laser works by targeting dark color (the hair follicle) and passing through light color (the skin) the hair and skin have to be very different shades of color for the hair to work. It burns the dark color disabling the hair follicle so hair cannot grow from it again. The darker and coarser the hair and lighter the skin, the better results you will have.

Okay... Personal Experience:

I've had 4 out of my 6 treatments so far. It HURTS! It's like being poked with a sewing needle over and over, but it's not as painful as a tattoo, and that's not as painful as childbirth, maybe that can put the pain in perspective for you =) I've had my legs, underarms, and bikini area done. When you get your bikini area done they do ALL of it! Including spreading your butt and vaginal lips apart to laser all the cracks... It's sorta awkward. After the 4 treatments I've had so far I've lost about 80% of leg hair, 80% bikini hair, and 80% underarms hair. But the legs are the most painful. The more it hurts the better it works. I have only a few hairs left around my ankles but every time the ankles hurt the worst for me.
I spent this much for 6 treatments in each area:
Bikini-$750
Underarms-$750
Legs (toes to bikini)-$2,500

Email me if you have any more questions about it!

How important is "originality" in a tattoo design?

Q. Check out this quote from an interview with Pat Fish (a woman tattoo artist world famous for her Celtic designs). It came out in 2003:

"College students cast about for something with meaning. The great default is something written in Japanese. It's low commitment, and they can feel wicked and tattooed. Frankly, a tiny kanji looks better than a miniscule rose. We call those 'zits on sticks.' The most common tattoo we do, besides kanji, is suns. Especially on girls' lower backs. For the last four or five years, we've done at least one a day. I hung a sign on the front door of my house that says, 'This is the bungalow that suns on butt cracks bought.'" ......

"We work out of files. I have a file of just suns. That way, I don't have to keep drawing the same thing. After the customer looks at 500 different suns, one-third will pick the same sun. It's the logo for this generation—Leo Zulueta's tribal sun. Then they can make it even more meaningful by putting a kanji in the center! My mantra about that is, 'The baker doesn't complain when the muffins sell well.' So, if we bake another dozen kanji, we're happy to do it!"
(source: http://www.luckyfish.com/controversial.html)

Hmmm...What’s the “logo” for THIS generation?

Here is the artist’s cynical viewpoint. Most are probably sick of doing the same “unoriginal” pieces. (Earlier in this article she says “That’s what employees are for!”)

But there is also a value in the standard design; everyone needs to be familiar with it so its “standard” meaning comes across. If every traffic light used different colors to mean “stop” and “go,” it would be really confusing.

Your thoughts?
I walked by Pat Fish's shop today (it's really close to my house) and peeked in....there is a whole HUGE wall of kanji flash, with the meanings of each character! I can really sympathize with her cynical attitude, but this just made the shop look really bad!

A. I completely feel sorry for tattoo artists who do 3-4 tramp stamps a day. As a piercing apprentice I feel as if I might scream every time some generic girl comes in to get either her tongue, her belly button, or both pierced. You can't blame people though, we're all victims trying to look cool. Some of us might not go out and get tattooed on a whim, but we will express it in other ways.

Do men find women with tattoos attractive?
Q. I have a large tattoo on my arm. Beautifully done by one of the bests artists in America. I've always lived my tattoos and I do get compliments on them but I wonder of guys did them attractive or sexy. For the most part I do not care what people think. And these tattoos mean something to me. Thanks in advance or your opinions!

A. Well, i'm a girl but i find tattoos on women to be extremely sexy.
And to the people who don't well, who cares what they think.
It's YOUR body.

Muslims >>> Is it a sin to get a permanent tattoo?

Q. I am a Muslim from Turkey, and I was raised religiously. I was always thought that permanent tattoos are a sin. But last week, I went to Jordan, Petra. Its an amazing place, but I noticed something. There are a lot of bedouins there, and they have facial tattoos, especially women. They had tattoos on their faces like dots, and Islamic arts. Is this allowed?

A. well the only way i think i can really think this through is to make a pro and cons list.

but unfortunately i had way more hardcore cons than pros. Only Allah knows. but its better to stay on the safe side. plus it probably is haram because there is a hadith that says that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that if anyone does anything to show off has committed the sin of shirk.

this is because you are trying to please someone else other than Allah. And if you dont know for sure that tattoos are halal and you still get one, it's like not really caring if its halal or not you just want to show off with your tattoo, which is MAJOR shirk.

btw, i dont mean you personally, im just talking in general. :)

i really hope i helped!
and hope your question is answered with a real legit answer, insha'Allah!

oh p.s. those dots you say on womens face, if your talking about the line on their chin and the two dots on each side, thats a tattoo the country people do. they are committing shirk as well, because they do it because they think it makes them look beautiful. but thats only if thats the tattoo your talking about.

What is the safest way to lick a woman's back without incurring the wrath of God?

Q. HELP!!!! GOD has given me the desire to lick a woman's back without her knowledge i don't know why god made me this way but i know it is part of his devine plan and i don't wish to displease him. Bu also i don't want people to dislike me how can i lick a woman's honeyed backsweat without freaking her out?

A. the real God (Christian God: the Holy Trinity) created a set number of angels on the 2nd day...let's say 30 billion. 1/3 of all angels rebelled against God...10 billion...God turned the rebels into spiritual darkness aka demons. well, technically, God had mercy on them because He didn't kill them or send them straight to hell. God gave them a chance to repent of what they've done. so, demons had about at least 7000 years to ask God to forgive them. they didn't do it. so, now they'll burn in hell with all the people who follow them (aka witches/wizzards, astrologers/tarot card readers, mediums/seers, ghost hunters, etc.). well, of course, if these witches/astrologers/mediums/etc. repent of their sins and ask God to forgive them, God will forgive them. so, what I 'm saying, everybody's got a shot to go to heaven - they just have to ask God to forgive them their sins.
demons disguise themselves as ghosts, greys, aliens, pagan gods, etc. basically just everywhere u go (something paranormal or religious like ouija board, channeling, dead relatives during seances), it's the demons almost all the time. to fight demons, u gotta be a christian. here are some christians' thoughts. spread the warning, please.
jigsaw from 'saw' movie is the antichrist.

green-glowing sixes will be given with small gray world passport by lasers.
Vyatcheslav Krasheninnikov (1982-1993) said this:
-china will attack russia
-jews will lose war against muslims
-80 foot dinosaurs will come out thru lakes and sinkholes. don't go near lakes and sinkholes.
-statue of liberty will make one step forward and then collapse
-antichrist has white powder on his face. his eyes are red. don't worship him.
-green electronic tattoo will be given by lasers when people stretch their hands to receive small gray world passport. don't take chip. don't take world passport. don't take any tattoos.
-demons dress in fake human skin and fly in ufo ships. don't go into a ufo ship.
people who go into ufo ships to be healed by demons, come out zombies.

Is it wise get a tattoo before switching branches?
Q. I want to get a tattoo, and active in the military at the moment. I plan to switch branches when my ETS comes near. Is it a good idea to get a tattoo before I switch? It will be on my forearm. I never had a tattoo so I'm really thinking about it.
Branch will be Navy.

A. So you want to get a tattoo...why? Do you think it makes you an individual or somehow a "rebel?"

Consider this - there are 47 MILLION Americans who are now tattooed. You can get your tattoo and compare it to the brand-new tats I see on women in their 70s and 80s. Sure makes them look tough and rebellious.

Be a real rebel...do NOT get a tattoo before switching services if you are too much of a mindless zombie not to get tattooed at all. Get the tat and risk switching services .

Whatever happened to individuals who wanted to be NON-conformists?

What do you think of girls with tattoos just below pants levels?

Q. many women have what some called tramp stamps. Do you think it is a sign of a sexual easy woman?

A. Having any tattoo or the location of any tattoo isn't a indication of someone's sexual promiscuity.

Tattoos have nothing to do with someone being sexually active or not...just as not having any tattoos doesn't indicate that either.

What can you tell about a woman who wears a flower tattoo on her upper right shoulder blade ?
Q. O.K. I recently had a falling out with a woman who always refered to me as her best friend. I caught her in tons of lies during our ,so-called, friendship and the rest of the time she just baffled me with her evasive personality and quirks. She had the most amazing flower tattoo (I think it was supposed to be an Iris or Orchid ) on her upper right shoulder blade.
I see in various magazines that alot of attention has been given to tattoos ,their art and body location and what they can tell about the person.
Any one have some thoughts on what I didn't know about my ex friend based on her tattoo ??
By the way I'm still crazy ,mad in love with her. I suppose my tattoo should be "Fool 4 love" across my forehead.

A. It means she likes flowers. And tattoos. Ta-da!!! Magic.

Do any older women regret getting a tattoo?

Q. I'm 21 and I'm considering getting a tattoo for a scar cover up. I really don't want to regret it as I get older and mature. I would like some advice from women in their 30's, 40's, or higher on their experience with a tattoo or tattoos. Do you regret it? Were there complications? Please leave your age for reference.

A. I am a 50 y/o woman with two tattoos, one a rather dramatic 8" beauty on my back. I adore them, but let me add that a great deal of thought went into what I did.

A tattoo should define you in some way. It should be a very personal thing, not just something "cool" that you pick off a wall in a salon.

The first one I got was a 4" dragonfly on my right shoulder. I *am* like a dragonfly - a bit weird, definitely feminine, a little mystical... freedom in the breeze. It's me.

The second one came years later - I had been through such a horrible year that I designed a very feminine phoenix, more like a big bird of paradise to remind me that I am a survivor, that I can get through anything because I have guts and determination. It's a colorful, beautiful bird because I am a colorful person that sees beauty in everything.

Think about it deeply. Don't pick something *cool* today that might be ridiculous 20 years from now. Visit tattoo parlours and websites to see if there's anything that speaks to you. Personally, I'd wait a few years before having one.

And here's a website for you to mull over as you make your decision: http://www.tattoofinder.com/find_tattoo.asp

PS - I had no complications but I do scab like nobody's business. The itch for the first week in unHOLY. Scratch and you ruin it.

What do people think of pin up girl tattoos on a woman? I have one because Virgo (girl figure) is my zodiac.?

Q. I think it's an awesome tattoo- on my ankle. I think it'a a normal, but unique design- lots of people have their sign as a tattoo. Is that strange? Thanks!

A. That's awesome. Tattoos are so individual that unless it looks trashy as in how you act making it trashy then there isn't anything wrong with it. People just like to judge others. My checks have vintage college girl pin-ups on them, hehe, love them! I also have my sign but the Kanji. Whatever suites your style!

Guys/men; What do you think of temporary henna tattoos on women?
Q. Just for the heck of it I thought id try some henna tattoos on my lower abdomen, hands or ankles. They're basically like temporary tattoos (but look a bit nicer, designs etc). They can be kinda sexy imo. From a guy's perspective does it seem cheesy or weird etc? I have no real tattoos but several piercings. Im 25. Just wondered what guys thought.. Thx!

A. @ Drummer, Henna isn't a fake tattoo, it is a type of body art that has been around for thousands of years, it was used in the Mediterranean 6000 to 8000 years ago.

I am a henna artist, and as such I am always covered in it. I have yet to meet anyone who didn't like my henna, men or women.

What kind of tattoo should I get?

Q. I have had a pretty tough year and would like to get a symbol of some kind that represents strength or strong woman, or surviving. I would also like for it to be small and to be able to put it somewhere discreet, if that helps.

A. www.tattoojohnny.com

I love tats with words so maybe incorporate and quote that symbolizes strength/courage with a picture....maybe silohouttes of doves flying upwards on ankle above a quote in fancy cursive font wrapped around your ankle

http://quotations.about.com/cs/inspirationquotes/a/Challenge5.htm

trees, birds, are very symbolic (free, independent, strong)

What is the best advice or most meaningful saying youve ever heard?
Q. There are so many sayings and pieces of advice out there, what is the most meaningful or helpful piece of advice/meaningful saying you've ever heard? Or something you always tell yourself when you news reassured.?

A. Everything happens for a reason. That's my mantra and I live by it. It's my tattoo on my back too. Just think about those words. Everything in life is happening for a good or bad reason, whether you like it or not. I remember hearing that quote from my dad when I was about 4 and I never forgot it. Whenever I feel depressed about something I remember that whatever is depressing me is happening for a reason and in the long run it'll make me a stronger woman.

Has anybody heard of BICO Australia? Its jewelry. Do you like it? Is it worth buying?

Q.

A. Bico Australia was started by two Australian surfers from the famous Bondi Beach in Sydney.

Bico jewelry is modern, urban style chains and pendants based on tribal, cultural, and tattoo symbols from around the world. The Bico jewelry artists in Australia take ancient symbols and make contemporary and urban street-wear designs from them. Bico is for both Men & Women.

Meanings: The very cool addition to Bico Australia necklaces is that all the pendants have meanings, so you get a piece of jewelry with a unique look that can stand for something that's important to you.

Just to give a few examples: Strength & Power, Luck in Love, Indestructible Spirit, Protection from Evil, The Hunter, Fearless, Good Luck, Guts & Glory, Stronger than Steel, High Risk High Reward, Peace, Faith without Limits . . . .

There's also familiar symbols such as crosses, asian tattoo Kanji characters, the Om, celtic knots, zodiac astrology symbols, Hamsa, ankh, dragon tattoo, faces, fish, and spiders.

If you'd like to see all the designs and the different meanings for each symbol, they are on our website at:

www.TribalHollywood.com

Because Bico Australia was started by surfers, there are also surf and skate style leather necklaces. The founders wanted jewelry that looked cool on a board (surf, skate, or snow) and would hold up to the outdoors (all the silver plated jewelry has an invisible protective coating to retain the finish & Bico is very high quality). Bico also has great bracelets with unique patterns and leather wrist cuffs.

I hope that helps. If you are ever in Hollywood, CA our store is located at the ArcLight Cinemas complex where the famous Cinerama Dome is on Sunset Blvd. We would be happy to show you the Bico Australia jewelry in person.

Leland chapman tattoos?
Q. does anyone know what lelands tattoo's mean? PLS NO SMART A## OK. thanks

A. I tried to find the meanings on the internet, but had a hard time. I did find out a lot of what the tatoos are. He had a Indian woman on his arm, but he recently got it changed to a mermaid. He also has the Hawaiian islands on his arm because he lives in Hawaii. And he just has a big tribal design on his left arm. He has a bird on his upper back and a cross on his lower back, probably because he's religious. And he has his son's name and birthdate, which you can usually see (Cobie 12-7-00). Hope this helps!

How are tattoos on the rib cage looked at for men?

Q. So I'm a total tattoo newbie. I'd like to get something in the next year or so and have been thinking about placement. It's a stupid question, but like I know that there are some places on the body that are generally reserved for women, such as the lower back, around the belly button, sometimes the feet, etc. Is the rib cage generally an asexual location? For whatever reason I really like the looks of a rib cage tattoo, especially if they're kind of bigger.

A. I have both my sides, up to my ribs tattooed, I love it haha. And it looks great on guys!! I personally think that spot tattooed on anyone is attractive and awesome! Does hurt though ;]

How would you perceive an attractive female with a not so girly tattoo?
Q. but not manly at all! just not the average hearts, butterflies, all that unoriginal stuff (no offense they look cute and all!) haha

something alittle more. for example a tattoo like angelina's, megan fox's tats etc?

i personally love them and it makes them a little endearing and mysterious, its not something you'd expect from a pretty girl. makes her unique

def. badass! what do you guys think? just curious?

A. i personally think that not so feminine tattoos are hot on women, and all the guys ive dated would def. agree.

most of the guys ive dated or been interested in, ive met because they noticed my tattoos and were intrigued, which is not very common for pretty young girls to be very heavily tattooed. [i mean, two sleeves, full chest piece, feet, ribs, one calf, piece on the neck behind the ear.. pretty heavy]

i mean, you'll never be able to get EVERYONE you ask to agree that theyre hot or not, but from my experience and from people i know, heavy tattoos or not feminine tattoos on women are extremely hot.

at the same time, i do get weird looks, or ive had an old woman say to me "those are for ugly girls" or things like that. i do have people ask "why such a pretty young girl would do that to herself", so yes, there will always be haters. but get a tattoo for yourself, not for the rest of society!!

tattoos are also starting to be a lot more socially acceptable these days-- almost everyone, even a community's most-respected people, are getting tatted up now!

If someone doesnt like it then Oh well it not on them. My fiancee was pretty cautious about me getting it but I convinced him of how bad I did. Now he loves it. It makes me who I am. I got a picec of art on me that will always be there and I will always be proud of it and of who I am. I say if it would make you happy then why not?? What is it about Asian women that enjoy Men with Swastikas tattooed on their Chests?
Q. My ex-Japanese girlfriend said it was very Holy in Japan.
And I often got free lunches by displaying it at restaurants.
My new Korean girlfriend said it is highly revered in Korea.
And every-time I go to the Gym, there's these Vietnamese Twins that bow to me and say they can make me real happy.

I come to America, and all the White People have a Hissy-fit about it.

A. That these men are blessed by the Buddhas and worthy to be with.
Either in a previous life their minds went towards the Dharma.
And this gesture of memory indicates their minds are pure, and worth the companionship.

Does anyone know any good tattoo place in LONDON?

Q. Does anyone know any good tattoo place in London.
How much does a tattoo normally cost and how much do they hurt.

A. There are a lot of tattoo studios in Camden Town that I hear are quite good. I can't give you a personal recommendation as I've never used any personally, I'm up in Leicester, but I would go there and take a walk down the main street and pop into the ones down there, get a feel for the place, chat to the artist and ask to see a portfolio of some of their work, and then see where you're drawn to. As for how much they cost and hurt - totally depends. Tattoos can range from £15 to £500 and beyond lol. Totally depends what you want. Studios always have walls of flash (pre-designed tattoos) with a price list. You can take a look at those and get an idea of the price. For custom work, they usually charge by the hour. My artist is about average and charges about £60 an hour, although I imagine the prices will be a bit higher in London. Never be tempted to go to anywhere just because it's cheap, cheap doesn't usually equal good with tattoos. But even if you wanted a tiny design, shops usually have a minimum amount they'll charge, usually between £20-£40, which is the minimum you'd pay even if you hypothetically wanted a tattoo of a little dot. Go and check it out. And the pain depends on your tolerance, the artist, and the placement of the tattoo. I have a really, really low pain tolerance, and the tattoos I've had on my back and rib areas have hurt me a lot, but the fleshier areas have been virtually painless. The most painful areas are your spine, ribs, feet, chest, etc. Least are like, calves, upper arms, bum, stomach (although I don't recommend abdominal tattoos, women's weight fluctuates there over the years and they can become distorted, and if you have children it can really ruin them). But for a small tattoo, even on a painful area it's not so bad, for me the pain is more when he's been going over the same area for hours on end. Little tattoos can take less than half an hour, so that'd be bearable wherever you had it. My advice is not to walk into a studio and pick a piece of flash off the wall and get it done there and then. If you want to use flash, that's your choice, but at least go away and have a good think about it before getting it done. But it's probably better to design something personal to you, you can look for inspiration on the internet and take pictures into your chosen artist who can draw something up for you if you can't draw well yourself. Always take a few weeks to consider the tattoo you want. I've been certain I've wanted something before and then actually changed my mind while waiting, and been glad I waited. Other things I've waited and still been set on, and been able to get more comfortable in the knowledge that this is what I really want. Good luck.

What are good bible verses about love?
Q. my boyfriend and i have been looking for a good bible verse for a tattoo, that we both can get on our ribs.. anything ideas?

A. Leviticus 19:28 – “Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.”

yea so the bible sais no marks on your skin and a tattoo is... a mark so if you want to follow the bible to the letter no tattoo

but seriously if you want one here are some good ones

Genesis 29:20
So Jacob worked seven years to pay for Rachel. But his love for her was so strong that it seemed to him but a few days.

Proverbs 5:19
A loving doe, a graceful deer—may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love.

Proverbs 10:12
Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs.

Proverbs 15:17
A bowl of vegetables with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate.

Proverbs 17:9
Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.

Proverbs 30:18-19
There are three things that amaze me—
no, four things that I don’t understand:
how an eagle glides through the sky,
how a snake slithers on a rock,
how a ship navigates the ocean,
how a man loves a woman.

Song of Solomon 1:2
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth— for your love is more delightful than wine.

Song of Solomon 2:16
My lover is mine, and I am his

Song of Solomon 4:10
How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume than any spice!

Song of Solomon 8:6
Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.

Song of Solomon 8:7
Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned.

1 Corinthians 13:1-8a and 13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails....And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

Ephesians 5:33
However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Colossians 3:14
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

1 Peter 4:8
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

1 John 3:18
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

1 John 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

hope that helped

How can I combine this into a really cute tattoo?

Q. I want to get roses and hawthorn flowers in honor of my relationship with my sister. My sister was born with spina bifida and she has taught me to just have faith in things and everything will work out. We are super close I'm just not sure how to make this into a really beautiful tattoo.

A. Hey!!! I got roses withs vines and thorns around a latin word on my ribs and i can tell you its a really nice place to have that tattoo. Flower+vine tattoos are really good looking on women (and well im a guy and i manage to make it look bad @$$ also) so you might want to consider that region. For the actual design i would say go talk to a tattoo artist, get a consultation. They have great ideas and they know what looks good with your body type, complexion, etc. Oh and dont forget: dont limit yourself with budget or because people tell you it hurts (not that bad actually), because good tattoos arent cheap and cheap tattoos arent good!:)

Hope that helps!:)

Cheers!

Is it hot when women have two tattoos?
Q. I'm am trying to get my sister to not get these tattoos but she really wants it. I think guys don't like tattoos. What do you think?
One is a cross with flowers around it on her rib cage, its about the size of a quarter piece of notebook paper (so like 4in X 5in) and another that says made in canada on the bottom of her foot.

A. It just depends on the woman and the tattoos. I LOVE tattoos, but certain designs can look tacky, especially in the wrong place. The ones you describe sound cute, so I think they would be ok. What matters is if SHE is comfortable with the tattoos, it's her body.

is a shoulder tattoo on a woman unsightly?

Q. I want to get a tattoo on my left shoulder near my collarbone, what does anybody think?

A. it depends how big it is.. if it's a small flower or something, I would think it might look nice.. but if you have a huge spiderweb that covers the whole shoulder and part of the arm, I might not find it attractive.. that's just my personal opinion though.. do whatever you want.. :)

Does it hurt more to get a tattoo below the shoulder like the outside of ur bicep or just above the heart?
Q. I am 13 and I was wondering would it hurt more to get a tattoo below the shoulder like on the outside of your bicep or just above the heart like in between the heart and the collar bone... Btw I am a male if that makes any difference please help me out!!!! Thanks.

A. I answer these questions related to pain in the same way every time.

The pain in different places differs from person to person, pain threshold does have a lot of input but, for example, my chest tattoo didn't hurt at all, where as some people I know said their chest tattoo hurt a lot!

Anyway, here's a basic pain level chart I always reffer people to.

Pain level 1
These include the upper arm, forearm, calf, Bum, and Thigh. For a 1st tattoo these are great points to begin your inked journey.

Pain level 2
These include the centre back, front / side of thighs and shoulders. This is also not too bad a start for your first tattoo. The shoulders and central back region can be area that require quite a lot of movement. The skin on these areas is much looser meaning it takes longer to tattoo and also longer to heal. On areas that have lots of movement such as these, require more care once a tattoo is completed. Due to the thigh area being quite a dense muscle mass and also quite tight skin, it may tend to bruise the day after.

Pain level 3
These include the knees, elbows, hands, head, neck, feet, chest and back of thighs. Beginners beware of starting at these areas. You would need to be determined to have tattoos here as the high sensitivity would require a lot of mental focus to get you through. The poor quality of skin on both the knees and elbows will result in a very slow tattoo process and nerves are very close to the surface in these areas. This could result in the tattooing being unbearable for any length of time for some people. As with the orange areas these tend to be high movement areas and will require a longer healing timescale. You may find that to achieve a good solid colour, you may have to repeat the tattoo process on these areas. As a side note the chest area on men can be much more sensitive to pain than a woman, yet due to the tighter skin on a male, the tattoo can be completed quicker.

Pain level 4 (OWCHIE!)
Areas include hips, ribcage, stomach, back of knees, armpit, inside of elbow, nipples, lips, inside of thighs and genitals. Are you really sure you want to get that tattoo? As these areas can elicit crying, half finished tattoos or even the customer passing out. This could just be more than you may be able to handle. All of these purple areas are considered by most to be the most painful areas to be tattooed. The stretchy or thin skin over bone are slow to tattoo, some of these may require multiple sessions to achieve solid colour and smooth shading. Healing can be just as painful as receiving the tattoo and may require a few days off from your regular activities.

SOME USEFUL TIPS WHEN GETTING A TATTOO:

•Women are your more sensitive the week prior to and during your cycle. Plan around those dates to have the best experience possible when getting your tattoo.
•Use lotion everyday on the area to be tattooed at least 1 week prior for healthier skin and better results.
•Do not go out in the sun at least one week prior to being tattooed (including tanning beds) This drys the skin and if peeling occurs could damage the tattoo.
•Consider what you will wear for 2 weeks while healing if your tattoo is in an area like the foot, waist, shoulders or chest. Shoes, waistbands, belts, underwear, and bras can all damage tattoos if you do not plan ahead. Find comfortable clothing that will not touch or rub during this time.
•Always eat a good meal before being tattooed and drink plenty of fluids.
•Be sure to get a good nights rest before your appointment.
•Ask what kind of aftercare products you will need when you set up to get your tattoo.
•Mention any allergies you may have, pigments, dyes, perfumes.
•Some medication may thin your blood, check with your doctor before being tattooed.
•Anyone with an autoimmune disorder needs to check with their doctor and should bring a note to be tattooed.

Would it be bad etiquette to ask my tattoo artist to refer me to someone else?

Q. Okay so I want a pin up girl tattoo and obviously I want it to be PERFECT and I feel like I made a mistake in the artist I chose. I chose the best tattoo parlor in my area so I would like to switch artists. She just made the pin up really cartoonish and childish. How should I go about doing this?

A. I wouldn't ask your tattoo artist about any recommendations. I would go to different shops and just look through their portfolios. See who has done portraits and pin-ups and go from there. You don't have to switch the artists permanently. I have 2 artists as we speak. One specializes in something the other doesn't, so I'm going to this other one. They love that I am loyal and don't feel bad at all. They are happy I'm sticking with the shop and not leaving. BUT they don't do knuckle tattoos, so I have to go somewhere else when I want another knuckle tattoo. I won't leave them for good, but I will go somewhere closer to get my knuckle(s) done. They won't feel bad because they told me themselves that they don't do it. ALSO, I want a pin-up of a person that I have admired since I was a kid. It's not going to be a normal pin-up (a cleaner version I'll be getting...an actress from the 70's). I will be applying to Kat Von D's shop and have her do it. It's worth the wait and I will travel for it. If I can't get into her shop, I'll try a couple other woman that I like. I want a woman to do it because we can bond and really have a fun experience. After all of this though, I won't ever leave my shop. So look around and have someone else do the tattoo. GOOD LUCK! =)

Can knuckle tattoos stop you from getting a job?
Q. Like if a woman was clean cut and put together and the only tattoo she had was on her knuckles (nothing raunchy), could that stop her from getting a job?

A. It really depends on a number of factors.
If you want to work in a conservative environment, then yes visible tattoos can cause an interviewer to have a more negative view against you.
If you want to work in a more relaxed environment then it would have less of an impact. Especially since many people have tattoos and piercings.

I have a small turtle on my left ring finger, and two more tattoos on my inner wrists which can be covered by a long sleeve shirt, as well as hair that is ever changing colors. I plan to work in higher education and if I wanted to work at an Ivy league institute...it would probably be harder to get hired than at a state run school. I am currently a master's student. My "look" is a bit more wild than most of my colleagues, but it also works in my favor because it is a conversation starter and makes me more difficult to forget when networking, which is why I'm loath to go back to a natural hair color.

I don't know what your tattoo looks like, but I know I can cover my turtle with a larger ring if necessary. Perhaps if it is one finger you could use a band-aid or ring or even stage makeup to cover it for an interview. This way it does not distract from your skills.

The best accessory to any interview is a smile. And if a company really wants you, they'll take you tattoo and all.

Can someone translate this into Hebrew for me?

Q. I'm looking to get another tattoo soon and would like the quote "For you, a thousand times over" from my favorite novel "The Kite Runner."

I would like it in Rashi scipt please, in other words the actual calligraphy. If vowel dots could be added, that would be fantastic. I've searched other translation sources and I'm just looking to get another comparison to get the most accurate translation.

A. The most accurate translation would be from the actual copy, as "officially" translated by Zila Elazar. This would surely be in the right context. This was "בשבילך, אלף פעם ויותר".

Rashi script is basically just a different font, although most modern Hebrew speakers would not be able to read it. Similarly, it is not a standard font on Hebrew computers. Yahoo! answers doesn't even support different fonts, so I suggest you download the font somehow, copy the Hebrew text and simply change the font to Rashi.

As for vowel dots, I am sorry, but I haven't read the book - is "for you" addressed to a woman or to a man? The spelling is the same for both cases, but the pronunciation is different.

The second part is אֶלֶף פַּעַם וְיוֹתֵר and you can keep בשבילך un-dotted, to keep the ambiguity.

Any good priced tattoo shops in the east bay ?
Q. Hi I am looking for a good , clean place to go to get some ink done I been looking around a lil so for prices around 80-100 . Is there any other places that you may know of but for a better starting price ? I want to get some words on my ribs . But I want to find an artist who can do any font size , the last three ppl I asked said they cant do words only in large size .. That to me is BS ...So if you know of anyone or any shops in the east bay area ca that do an awesome job on whatever you ask for and great starting price please let me know .Thank you for you help too :)

A. The reality of it is not bs. Lettering should be a certain size so it can be legible and stand the test of time. Anything smaller won't look good after a couple of years. The fact that it's on the ribs creates another difficulty factor resulting in putting a bigger font size there. The ribs suck, they hurt like a bastard and they are difficult to tattoo their. Their is a popular trend right now of people (usually women) getting their first tattoo of a quote on the ribs in the smallest font possible. Those three elements raise the bar for difficulty. There literally is no room for error. People don't sit well for rib tattoos, they squirm and not to mention they breathe making your steady hand not so steady. My advice is to go with a bigger font, it will look better 10 years from now rather than a tiny font that will look like bs in a couple.
