What does it signify about a woman if she's into erotic fantasy art--this seems to be a recent subculture?

Q. Similar to the new Twilight craze for teens only for women 25-45.

It's almost the equivalent of the modern day pin-up girl, but with a BDSM spin--dirty/edgy, heavy makeup, exotic lingerie, tattoos, wings, maybe some bondage and a sword. It's borderline porn but sells in American malls on calendars without restriction.

It almost seems like a subdued expression of lesbianism, but many or most of these women claim they're straight.

A. I only like that kind of artwork if there are a couple of subs in it to do her bidding. Otherwise, just a Domme by herself would not interest me. As Rio said, it's about putting yourself in the woman's place, not being with her yourself. I don't think I'd want a calendar like that, though, lol. I like my kittens and landscapes. ;-)

what miami ink episode showed a young women getting a tattoo of a bird leaving the wings of another bird?
Q. the young women described this tattoo as her mother being the bird that was trying to keep a hold of the other bird as it flew off on its own. representing her move away from her mom.

Is a Cross tattoo on your hip inappropriate?

Q. Ok so I know hip tattoos are supposed to be a more sensual location that an arm tattoo for instance. I'm Catholic and very religious and I was thinking about getting a small cross and some words in latin on my hip. I just want people's opinion on whether the hip is a too inappropriate or disrespectful a location for a cross?

A. I have a cross on my chest just over my heart. I'm a Christian and admittedly i did put alot of thought into it first. I think as long as you are getting it for good reason then you would never regret it.
I got mine because i had some bad experiences with my church but then i met my husband who brought me to a different church, helped me find faith again....then cheated and lied and hurt me, so i wanted a reminder that my faith was my own and not a bad thing...hence why i put it over my heart.

The only thing i would say is be very careful of the style of the cross you get. Women's cross tattoo designs tend to be very fine lines which on places that stretch isn't a great idea :)

Have you thought abut trying to design your own cross? Just start with a shape you like and work around it to create something that is really truly personal to you and your faith.

What is the sexiest place for a woman to have a tattoo and what would it be?
Q. I would do a tattoo on someone in the Pittsburgh Pa area if it is a quality image if you choose the flash, or I can pick something to do. I have done tattoos in the late 90's but had seven surgeries from a bad car crash, and am doing tattoos again.

A. Coming from a female, I think a small tattoo on one hip would look good

The Ancient and Mysterious History
By Cate Lineberry

What is the evidence that ancient Egyptians had tattoos?

There's certainly evidence that women had tattoos on their bodies and limbs from figurines c. 4000-3500 B.C. to occasional female figures represented in tomb scenes c. 1200 B.C. and in figurine form c. 1300 B.C., all with tattoos on their thighs. Also small bronze implements identified as tattooing tools were discovered at the town site of Gurob in northern Egypt and dated to c. 1450 B.C. And then, of course, there are the mummies with tattoos, from the three women already mentioned and dated to c. 2000 B.C. to several later examples of female mummies with these forms of permanent marks found in Greco-Roman burials at Akhmim.

What function did these tattoos serve? Who got them and why?

Because this seemed to be an exclusively female practice in ancient Egypt, mummies found with tattoos were usually dismissed by the (male) excavators who seemed to assume the women were of "dubious status," described in some cases as "dancing girls." The female mummies had nevertheless been buried at Deir el-Bahari (opposite modern Luxor) in an area associated with royal and elite burials, and we know that at least one of the women described as "probably a royal concubine" was actually a high-status priestess named Amunet, as revealed by her funerary inscriptions.

And although it has long been assumed that such tattoos were the mark of prostitutes or were meant to protect the women against sexually transmitted diseases, I personally believe that the tattooing of ancient Egyptian women had a therapeutic role and functioned as a permanent form of amulet during the very difficult time of pregnancy and birth. This is supported by the pattern of distribution, largely around the abdomen, on top of the thighs and the breasts, and would also explain the specific types of designs, in particular the net-like distribution of dots applied over the abdomen. During pregnancy, this specific pattern would expand in a protective fashion in the same way bead nets were placed over wrapped mummies to protect them and "keep everything in." The placing of small figures of the household deity Bes at the tops of their thighs would again suggest the use of tattoos as a means of safeguarding the actual birth, since Bes was the protector of women in labor, and his position at the tops of the thighs a suitable location. This would ultimately explain tattoos as a purely female custom.

What did these tattoos look like?

Most examples on mummies are largely dotted patterns of lines and diamond patterns, while figurines sometimes feature more naturalistic images. The tattoos occasionally found in tomb scenes and on small female figurines which form part of cosmetic items also have small figures of the dwarf god Bes on the thigh area.

What were they made of? How many colors were used?

Usually a dark or black pigment such as soot was introduced into the pricked skin. It seems that brighter colors were largely used in other ancient cultures, such as the Inuit who are believed to have used a yellow color along with the more usual darker pigments.

Why do you think so many cultures have marked the human body and did their practices influence one another?

In many cases, it seems to have sprung up independently as a permanent way to place protective or therapeutic symbols upon the body, then as a means of marking people out into appropriate social, political or religious groups, or simply as a form of self-expression or fashion statement.

Yet, as in so many other areas of adornment, there was of course cross-cultural influences, such as those which existed between the Egyptians and Nubians, the Thracians and Greeks and the many cultures encountered by Roman soldiers during the expansion of the Roman Empire in the final centuries B.C. and the first centuries A.D. And, certainly, Polynesian culture is thought to have influenced Maori tattoos.

Is it hot when women have two tattoos?
Q. I'm am trying to get my sister to not get these tattoos but she really wants it. I think guys don't like tattoos. What do you think?
One is a cross with flowers around it on her rib cage, its about the size of a quarter piece of notebook paper (so like 4in X 5in) and another that says made in canada on the bottom of her foot.

A. It just depends on the woman and the tattoos. I LOVE tattoos, but certain designs can look tacky, especially in the wrong place. The ones you describe sound cute, so I think they would be ok. What matters is if SHE is comfortable with the tattoos, it's her body.

what would be a good tattoo mural to symbolize motherhood?

Q. I want to get a mural tattooed on my back that will represent the change from childhood to motherhood. I know that i want it to be gray scaled and that I don't want the usual faeries, butterfly's, frogs or flowers but im not very creative and the artist needs a general idea that i want to display any ideas?

A. Take images from your childhood, a picture of you on a swing or slide, in diapers, being held, sleeping, different ages, toys and books, and the things that you were interested in at different stages, objects to represent time periods and ages, silhouettes, etc. Look in scrapebooks, and bring any and all pictures, and written ideas to your artist and see what him/her comes up with.
Here's some vague idea images:

What's the meaning of this tattoo?

Q. http://www.tattooeasily.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Maori-Tattoo-designs-23.jpg
It's a Maori tattoo I found on the Internet, and I was wondering if you know the meaning of it, since most of those tattoos have one .. Thanks in advance :)

A. The Maori use tattoo to tell the world they have reached adulthood. Getting their faces tattooed was a right of passage that told the world "I'm an ADULT!" The design itself is a shorthand for the family geneology and often would tell rank. Women would get lip and chin tattoos while men would get full face tattoos.

It's best to be respectful if you choose one of these designs, however, as inappropriate placement like as a tramp stamp can be seen as offensive to the Maori. The design you posted is not a real Maori design. In fact, it can be seen as an offensive derivative due to it's positioning.

Didn't Obama say Insurance Premiums would NOT rise because of Obamacare?
Q. Sebelius: Some Could See Insurance Premiums Rise

Some people purchasing new insurance policies for themselves this fall could see premiums rise because of requirements in the health-care law, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told reporters Tuesday.

Ms. Sebeliuss remarks come weeks before insurers are expected to begin releasing rates for plans that start on Jan. 1, 2014, when key provisions of the health law kick in. Premiums have been a sensitive subject for the Obama administration, which is counting on elements in the health law designed to increase competition among insurers to keep rates in check. The administration has pointed to subsidies that will be available for many lower-income Americans to help them with the cost of coverage.

The secretarys remarks are among the first direct statements from federal officials that people who have skimpy health plans right now could face higher premiums for plans that are more generous. She noted that the law requires plans to provide better benefits and treat all customers equally regardless of their medical claims.

These folks will be moving into a really fully insured product for the first time, and so there may be a higher cost associated with getting into that market, she said. But we feel pretty strongly that with subsidies available to a lot of that population that they are really going to see much better benefit for the money that theyre spending.

Ms. Sebelius added that those customers currently pay more for their health care if their plans have high out-of-pocket costs, high deductibles or exclude particular types of coverage, such as mental health treatment. She also said that some men and younger customers could see their rates increase while women and older customers could see their rates drop because the law restricts insurers ability to set rates based on age and gender.

Most people who buy their own insurance policies will begin doing so this fall through new online marketplaces, which federal officials believe will force insurers to keep their prices down.

As a former insurance commissioner I have watched what transparency does to a market, Ms. Sebelius said. This is the first time ever in the history of the United States that insurance companies have to file their rates, it has to be very transparent, they have to offer the same kind of coverage without 5,000 tiny little lines and internal caps, and they have to compete for customers. And I am a believer in the market strategies that in and of itself will minimize the rate impact.

As The Wall Street Journal reported last week, some insurers have already begun signaling they could dramatically increase prices for people buying policies in the individual market to compensate for restrictions on how they treat consumers, as well as new fees and requirements that they provide bigger benefits packages.

The Society of Actuaries, a nonpartisan professional association, has issued a new report warning that the cost of medical claims in the new individual-insurance market could rise by an average of 32% per person over the first few years the law is in place, as more people with higher medical needs get coverage, and that the impact will be very different depending on the state. Medical bills are another key factor in determining premiums.

Dave87gn - I won't insult your intelligence by suggesting that you really believe what you just said.
Douglas S - Somewhere out there is a tree, tirelessly producing oxygen so you can breathe. I think you owe it an apology.

A. the bottom line is quite scary. Those that have chose not to have health care will make any excuse to get Obamacare passed. They do not care who it hurts or who it effects. I know so many people that own houses, have new cars and go on vacations and say they have no money for health care. Yet, those of us who have sacrificed, and paid our health care costs all along are the ones that are being punished by having OUR health care costs inflated to pay for those that don't feel like paying for health care but got a brand new tattoo........welfare is there for those that need help we did not need another program that will help the non workers and punish the workers again. Then again, Obama hates those that work hard, we did not build that, he did, his government did and we are the ones that will pay for it, while he attends another basketball game or golf game. UGGGGG.

What type of tattoo should I get on my stomach?

Q. This is going to be my first tattoo, but i don't know what to get. I want it to be small-medium. Maybe dealing with love?

A. For your first tattoo, getting one on your stomach is a bad idea. We wrote multiple articles on the questions you have. "Another spot not recommended is the stomach because weight can go up and down like crazy and thats where it will show the most."

First question is what you should get. We wrote an article called "What Should My First tattoo be" here:
"We suggest whatever tattoo you get, make sure its personal and small. What if you dont like your tattoo? You have to stick with it for almost ever unless you get it removed, which also takes time to get rid of. Get something like an RIP tattoo of someone that was special to you that can remind you every day of how awesome that person was"
Read more here to get more ideas: http://tatopia.com/my-first-tattoo/what-should-my-first-tattoo-be/

We also wrote an article called "Do Tattoos Hurt and How Will It Feel? Women Feel Less Pain Then Men?". There is a picture there where it shows what spots hurt the most. For the stomach, they suggest to bring a leather strap to bite down on because you WILL feel pain.
Read more here: http://tatopia.com/my-first-tattoo/do-tattoos-hurt-and-how-will-it-feel-women-feel-less-pain-then-men/

And the last article I will suggest to read is "Where should I put my tattoo?". Here we write the best spots to get a tattoo. One quote from the article should help you: "Another spot not recommended is the stomach because weight can go up and down like crazy and thats where it will show the most.".

Looking for a meaningful quote for a tattoo, that resembles my recovery from anorexia?
Q. I'm looking for a quote about strength, hope, faith, the future etc. That in some way resembles the journey i've been through. But also something positive that makes me feel proud of where I've come from, and where i'm aiming to be. Thanks!

Claudette Colbert

2) "Trouble is part of your life, and if you don't share it, you don't give the [people] who love you enough chance to love you enough."
Dinah Shore

3) "Insist on yourself. Never imitate."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

What do you think about women having tattoos?

Q. I don't mean substantially tattooed, just like a couple. Two small wrist tattoos, one on each wrist. Or just tattoos on women in general. ? Thanks.

A. I don't like it when people have one or two small tattoos*, get big custom work or just don't bother.

Properly tattooed women are fantastic. My wife has her sleeves done.

One, significant, personal, piece is different to a f*cking dolphin/star/flower/bird/cherry blossom.

Would it look weird if a guy gets a henna tattoo?
Q. I did research and realized that it pertains to women and marriage in India, and that they gather together to get tattoos of flowers, and other things to represent their love for their mate. The thing is, I want to get a tattoo, but it would be painful, so to start, I would love to do something like a henna to see if I would like a permanent one.

A. no it wont look weird, just get one of those ones on the palm of ur hand, they look cool

Will a tattoo behind my ear hurt?

Q. So basically I am 19 and I want to get my first tattoo, I want to get 3 paw prints behind my ear, I was wondering how bad it will hurt? I am pretty good with pain as I have 9 piercings. Also what is the average price for tattoos behind the ear? How long do you usually take to get it done? And should I get just black or colour?

A. I answer these questions related to pain in the same way every time.

The pain in different places differs from person to person, pain threshold does have a lot of input but, for example, my chest tattoo didn't hurt at all, where as some people I know said their chest tattoo hurt a lot!

Anyway, here's a basic pain level chart I always reffer people to.

Pain level 1
These include the upper arm, forearm, calf, Bum, and Thigh. For a 1st tattoo these are great points to begin your inked journey.

Pain level 2
These include the centre back, front / side of thighs and shoulders. This is also not too bad a start for your first tattoo. The shoulders and central back region can be area that require quite a lot of movement. The skin on these areas is much looser meaning it takes longer to tattoo and also longer to heal. On areas that have lots of movement such as these, require more care once a tattoo is completed. Due to the thigh area being quite a dense muscle mass and also quite tight skin, it may tend to bruise the day after.

Pain level 3
These include the knees, elbows, hands, head, neck, feet, chest and back of thighs. Beginners beware of starting at these areas. You would need to be determined to have tattoos here as the high sensitivity would require a lot of mental focus to get you through. The poor quality of skin on both the knees and elbows will result in a very slow tattoo process and nerves are very close to the surface in these areas. This could result in the tattooing being unbearable for any length of time for some people. As with the orange areas these tend to be high movement areas and will require a longer healing timescale. You may find that to achieve a good solid colour, you may have to repeat the tattoo process on these areas. As a side note the chest area on men can be much more sensitive to pain than a woman, yet due to the tighter skin on a male, the tattoo can be completed quicker.

Pain level 4 (OWCHIE!)
Areas include hips, ribcage, stomach, back of knees, armpit, inside of elbow, nipples, lips, inside of thighs and genitals. Are you really sure you want to get that tattoo? As these areas can elicit crying, half finished tattoos or even the customer passing out. This could just be more than you may be able to handle. All of these purple areas are considered by most to be the most painful areas to be tattooed. The stretchy or thin skin over bone are slow to tattoo, some of these may require multiple sessions to achieve solid colour and smooth shading. Healing can be just as painful as receiving the tattoo and may require a few days off from your regular activities.

SOME USEFUL TIPS WHEN GETTING A TATTOO:

Women are your more sensitive the week prior to and during your cycle. Plan around those dates to have the best experience possible when getting your tattoo.
Use lotion everyday on the area to be tattooed at least 1 week prior for healthier skin and better results.
Do not go out in the sun at least one week prior to being tattooed (including tanning beds) This drys the skin and if peeling occurs could damage the tattoo.
Consider what you will wear for 2 weeks while healing if your tattoo is in an area like the foot, waist, shoulders or chest. Shoes, waistbands, belts, underwear, and bras can all damage tattoos if you do not plan ahead. Find comfortable clothing that will not touch or rub during this time.
Always eat a good meal before being tattooed and drink plenty of fluids.
Be sure to get a good nights rest before your appointment.
Ask what kind of aftercare products you will need when you set up to get your tattoo.
Mention any allergies you may have, pigments, dyes, perfumes.
Some medication may thin your blood, check with your doctor before being tattooed.
Anyone with an autoimmune disorder needs to check with their doctor and should bring a note to be tattooed.

What exactly do butterfly tattoos on females symbolize and what would be the masculine/male version tattoo?

Q. I noticed a lot of females with butterfly tatoos. Why are those so popular with young ladies and what would be equivalent on the male side?Like what tattoos do young males have thats almost like females and their butterfly tattoos?

A. It's an interesting question, but the truth is... it's a popular design that women like, more than anything else. Kinda like faries or dolphins. They're just pretty, and women go for that kinda stuff. It's kinda like guys having skulls and dragons. Those are popular masculine tattoos worn almost exclusivly by men. The television shows/soap operas would have you belive otherwise, but most people just get what they like. That's the real truth of it, in most cases. But because of TV shows, everyone is looking for 'hidden meaning'. Go figure.

How long does it typically take to tattoo the top of your foot, like the whole top?
Q. I'm getting the tops of my feet pretty much completely covered, just the tops, not my toes or the sides. And I'm just wondering about how long it will take to typically to cover each foot. I have small feet, each foot tattoo would be about 3 1/2 - 4 inches by 3 1/2 - 4 inches big. And they aren't too detailed, mainly more so colored in.

A. That all depends on how intricate the design would be, example if it's just a single color inked then it would at least take an hour tops, but if it has some design intricacies then it would definitely would take longer.

Another advice is, browse some tattoo sites, they might have some cool artwork and sample designs from their artist, I know a site where some of the artist are women, check it out first so you'll know what design you would want on your feet.

What do you think of downplaying your looks when interviewing for a new job?

Q. If a man or woman is really attractive, should s/he try to become a little less so when meeting people to interview for a job? Maybe by wearing glasses or less make-up. A female friend of mine does this so as not to turn off the women interviewers or turn on the male ones - she just wants to get the job b/c of her ability and not her looks. Thoughts?
Please assume you will be interviewing before a panel made up of men and women

A. If you are interviewing with the opposite sex, I personally think you should try to be attractive. I really think it matters.

If you are interviewing with the same sex, then downplay it a little.

When you are interviewing, you should have minimal "flash" any time. Not much jewelry, no more than earrings for women, hide tattoos, no (or very little) cologne or perfume, etc.

Is it bad form to ask a tattoo artist to modify their flash?
Q. Hey y'all I accompanied my friend to the tattoo shop earlier today and fell in love with a drawing on the artists flash sheet. I'm seriously considering it as a tattoo and I love it as is but would love it even more if I could add a flower to the hair of the woman in the image. Would an artist be offended if I asked to do this? I want it for a number of reasons--mainly the added symbolism and the fact that it would slightly distinguish my tattoo from anyone else who also decides to get it.

A. no its not bad form
but while asking keep complementing it, and say how interested you are in getting if only you could add something to it, and add that you what that added in, means more money for them anyway
just be polite and make jokes tattoo artists are pretty friendly if you get on their good side

what tribal tattoos represent strength?

Q. i want something to represent strength and what ive been through
i like
the word strength on my wrist
a white tiger on my lower back
or a tribal sign
i dont know which but it will be my frist tattoo
and if you can think of one tell me where :)

A. Can't you be strong without getting it emblazoned on your body?
The strongest are those that have been through some kind of hell but don't go on about it much.
It has to be said that tattoos are different on women than men, and tribal tattoos are butch.
The only tribal tattoos for women I know of are the 'Moko' where Maori women got a design below their lower lip. Is that a look that appeals? [I think you're supposed to be a Maori anyway].
Also, it jars when people get tribal tattoos and representational ones.
Be strong. Get something discreet.

Maori / Polynesian Tattoo Designs?
Q. i want to know descriptions of specific designs

A. what do u mean by discriptions..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tattoo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_tattoos
Samoa
When the Samoan Islands were first seen by Europeans in 1722 three Dutch ships commanded by Jacob Roggewein visited the eastern island known as Manua. A crew member of one of the ships described the natives in these words, They are friendly in their speech and courteous in their behavior, with no apparent trace of wildness or savagery. They do not paint themselves, as do the natives of some other islands, but on the lower part of the body they wear artfully woven silk tights or knee breeches. They are altogether the most charming and polite natives we have seen in all of the South Seas"

The ships lay at anchor off the islands for several days, but the crews did not venture ashore and didnt even get close enough to the natives to realize that they were not wearing silk leggings, but their legs were completely covered in tattoos.

In Samoa, the tradition of applying tattoo, or tatau, by hand has been unbroken for over two thousand years. Tools and techniques have changed little. The skill is often passed from father to son, each tattoo artist, or tufuga, learning the craft over many years of serving as his father's apprentice. A young artist-in-training often spent hours, and sometimes days, tapping designs into sand or tree bark using a special tattooing comb, or au. Honoring their tradition, Samoan tattoo artists made this tool from sharpened boar's teeth fastened together with a portion of the turtle shell and to a wooden handle.

Traditional Samoan tattooing of the pe'a, body tattoo, is an ordeal that is not lightly undergone. It takes many weeks to complete. The process is very painful and used to be a necessary prerequisite to receiving a matai title; this however is no longer the case. Tattooing was also a very costly procedure.

It was not uncommon for half a dozen boys to be tattooed at the same time, requiring the services of four or more artists. It was not just the men who received tattoos, but the women too; their designs are of a much lighter nature rather than having the large areas of solid dye which are frequently seen in mens tattoos. The tattooing of women was not nearly as ritualized like mens were.

Samoan society has long been defined by rank and title, with chiefs (ali'i) and their assistants, known as talking chiefs (tulafale). The tattooing ceremonies for young chiefs, typically conducted at the time of puberty, were part of their ascendance to a leadership role. The permanent marks left by the tattoo artists would forever celebrate their endurance and dedication to cultural traditions. The pain was extreme and the risk of death by infection was a concern; to back down from tattooing was to risk being labeled a pala'ai or coward. Those who could not endure the pain and abandoned their tattooing were left incomplete, would be forced to wear their mark of shame throughout their life. This would forever bring shame upon their family so it was avoided at all cost.

The Samoan tattooing process used a number of tools which remained almost unchanged since their first use. Autapulu is a wide tattooing comb used to fill in the large dark areas of the tattoo. Ausogi'aso tele is a comb used for making thick lines. Ausogi'aso laititi is a comb used for making thin lines. Aumogo small comb is used for making small marks. Sausau is the mallet is used for striking the combs. It is almost two feet in length and made from the central rib of a coconut palm leaf. Tuluma is the pot used for holding the tattooing combs. Ipulama is the cup used for holding the dye. The dye is made from the soot collected from burnt lama nuts. Tu'I used to grind up the dye. These tools were primarily made out of animal bones to ensure sharpness.

The tattooing process itself would be 5 sessions, in theory. These 5 sessions would be spread out over 10 days in order for the inflammation to subside. The steps are as follows.

I. O le Taga Tapulu (back and small of the back) In the first session the height to which the tattoo will rise is decided (Ano le Tua), this is always such that the top of the design will show above the lavalava. Then the va'a, pula tama and pula tele are outlined and the design filled in.

II. O le Taga Fai'aso (the posterior) The aso fa'aifo are completed around to the abdomen and the 'asolaititi are finished. Next to be added are the saemutu, which vary in number depending upon social status. A matai will have four an orator three and anyone else would have two. Where it meets the 'ivimutu at the anus it is called tafaufile, where it covers the perineum it is called tasele, where it covers the scrotum it is called tafumiti and the area over the penis is called tafito. Needless to say this is very painful.

III. Taga Tapau The lausae, an area of solid tattooing, is added to the thighs beneath the aso e lua.

How can I convince my g/f to accept new friend with tattoo's?

Q. So much is happening here in India. Esperanza and I are finally starting to relax now that we've identified the place where we want to get Ryan his tat. Thanks for the suggestions, everybody! We still have to book the appointment.

Anyway, remember that backpacker we saw getting tattooed at Baby Tiger Tattoo in Randi Market? We ended up seeing her in a dhaba (like a diner) with her boyfriend....and their little one! It turns out they are Israeli. So we chatted with them and about their tattoo experience. Aleah (the backpacker) has a whole bunch of tattoos. She has:
- a white tiger on her left ankle
- two tigers with Chinese symbols for best friends in between on left shoulder
- memorial for her dead ferret on right ankle
- a dragonfly on right shoulder
- a dragonfly on wrist that was the one we saw her getting!

She told us the story behind each one, and we were very touched. So meaningful! All I can say is that we are VERY anxious (in a good way)!

Their daughter, Netanya, is around 7 months, so she and Ryan got along well. Aleah and Namir (bf) invited us to go hiking with them in Dharamsala that is up in the mountains where the Dalai Lama lives!!!

We really want to go, but there is one small problem. As you know, Esperanza thinks women with tattoos are sort of trashy.....I know, I know....she cant help it though, its her cultural upbringing. I think its ironic because Aleah and Namir are Israeli and they are not supposed to get tattoos either...Ranza doesnt get the irony.

Help! What can I do to convince her otherwise??? I REALLY want to go to Dharamsala (and I know she would enjoy it, too)....

A. I have been following this saga from the beginning, From the dragonfly picture that I saw from the "Baby Tiger" artist, she is an amazing artist and I am sure that this backpacker's other ink is amazing as well! I really can't wait to see a picture of the ferret tattoo if you can get one because I lost my pet rat a while ago, and I have been looking for a memorial tattoo design on the internet and haven't been able to find one! I think with a picture of the memorial tattoo for the back packer's ferret in hand, I might be able to go to my artist and get my tattoo started! I mean without an exact picture of what you want, how can you expect your artist to get the tattoo right?!?
But I digress...
Anyway, if Esperanza has seen the amazing art that on this woman, and she still thinks that tattoos on women are trashy, then there is no changing her mind! I mean, it is pretty much the same as someone seeing Jesus perform a miracle live, right in front of them, and them still not believing! At this point there may be no hope. However, before your friends start off on their journey, can you please get the ferret pic and email it to me? my address is tribal_and_butterflies_ and_rats_4 ever @ tat.com (take out the spaces).
Thanks and good luck with Ranza!

How bad is the pain on your shoulder?
Q. OK I am planning all my tattoos out in advance. I want to get a pink daisy for my mom on the front of my shoulder like by the clavicle bone like this LOCATION NOT THIS TATTOO. (People sometimes don't read the whole details, sorry) http://www.uktattoostudios.co.uk/women/butterfly-shoulder-womens-girls-tattoos-tattoo-designs-pictures-gallery3.jpg

not going behind my shoulder just on the front.

A. A piece like that for the most part will not be bad at all. But generally when getting up on your shoulder closer to your neck the pain greatly intensifies. Closer to your should the less amount of pain.

Best advise is to not worry about the pain. It is all tolerable. Just decide on your tattoo and where you think it will best fit.

What kind of tattoo should i get?

Q. Hello everyone i want to get a tattoo that represents a strong woman. Ive been through a lot lately and ive just grown because of it all and i want a tattoo. I was thinking a quote or a symbol or whatever...thanks!

A. A symbol of a strong woman can mean a lot of things to many people. Too some, it may be a butterfly, representing the transition from a long journey. It's can also mean a muscle woman that literally represents a strong woman. It's all in the mind of the person getting it. Think about it for yourself, and find out what being a strong woman means to you, then find a tat or a tat concept that best represents that for you. If you do a search for feminist quotes online, you'll find plenty of excellent ones, that is, if your looking to go in the direction of a quote. Good luck.

what is a good tattoo quote for a female?
Q. i want a tatoo for my 18th bday..i am a lady who is going to join the marines once i turn 18, so i dont want any love quotes or chessy quotes . i want a strong quote , i really ont like any b s please so no weak quotes.. its gonna go on my left side of my back or left side of hip so a good quotee plz (:! thanks

A. Best quote for a female is no quote. Don't get a tattoo, Marine!

Research shows that women face more social stigma than men regarding tattoos. Women with tattoos are more likely to have them removed because of embarrassment, body image, or career concerns.
Researchers from Texas Tech University found that women with tattoos are more than twice as likely to have them removed (as compared to men with tattoos). Most women are happy with tattoos when they get them, but their feelings changed within the next one to five years.
In this study, women found that tattoos began to cause embarrassment, and stopped being a source of uniqueness. Women with tattoos often have to hide them, which limits clothing options and increases feelings of self-consciousness.

How can a woman find tattoos attractive on their bodies?

Q. I mean, bodies sag as people age and that lovely little rose will begin to look like an aborted fetus. Am I wrong? I think these little embellishments are hideous links to a tribal past.

YUCK!

A. Tattoos and piercings seem very tribal. Some tattoos I've seen were really crappy.

POLL Guys: Do you like your woman with tattoos or without?

Q. I am a female with three tattoos and i'm tattooing my rib cage in a few days. I'm nervous because i'm a small girl!

A. Oh god yes

What matters is if SHE is comfortable with the tattoos, it's her body.

does it hurt to get a tattoo on the side of your lower abdomen?

Q. i cant explain it good but idnt want it directly above my private part just above, then move to the side and thats where i want it. you get it? sorry if its complicated.
yes monty =] thats what i meant. more by my hip then my stomach. just didnt know how to explain it. and thanks for the info =].

A. Every tattoo hurts, think about it, it's a needle going about a nickel's depth into your skin several times a second. I've got two in about the same area on each side. The only reason I had the other side done was for symmetry. I'm male, even though these tattoos are a good 6-7 inches away from my man-parts, it still hurt worse than any of the 7 other tattoos I've gotten. People think that getting one directly on my ribs hurt the most, turns out thats the least painful.

However, I've had women tell me that their tattoos in that area didn't hurt so much, but the tattoos on their ribs were killer.

Do the Valtrex commercials make you as angry as they make me?
Q. They are pretty much saying if you take our medication you can have sex with whoever you want and you wont give them herpes. This really scares me. I dont want a valtrex takin ho to have sex with me and not tell me she has herpes because she thinks she cant give it to me. People with STDs should be forced to get a tattoo above their privates that tells what disease they have so anyone who is about to go down under knows.

A. Obviously you need some education. Herpes affects 1 in 5 men and 1 in 4 women. Chances are if you've slept with 4 people you have been exposed. Approximately 80% of those that have herpes don't know it and the test for herpes is NOT a part of normal std screenings. Many that say they are "clean" are not.

Many of the people that have herpes got them from partners that did NOT disclose. Studies have shown that you are safer with someone that KNOWS they have herpes and takes suppressives, uses condoms and avoids sex during outbreaks than sleeping with the general public. Oh, and make sure you don't have oral sex with anyone that has coldsores because that is Herpes (HSV1) and many of the new cases of genital herpes are coming from oral sex. Just because you don't see a coldsore doesn't mean the other person isn't contagious...there is something called asymptomatic shedding.

The commercial states that it lowers the risk....and before you say much more perhaps you better go and get tested for herpes....you could be part of the 80%.

Post pregnancy pictures for women who had stomach tattoos?

Q. I have been looking all over for a website that shows pictures of women who have tattoos on their belly, abdomen, upper hip etc. I want to see how many women have had their tattoos deformed or they're fine. I have a really meaningful tattoo that I don't want messed up, but that's not gonna stop me from having a child. I'm just wondering.

A. everyone is different, some people can go through pregnancy without hurting their tattoos... others end up with stretch marks ruining the image.

You won't know how you'll turn out until it happens.

is it weird that i get turned on by women tattoos?
Q. for years all my girlfriends have had tattoos and when i see women with tattoos i think it's kinda hot.

A. No, not at all-many guys find tattoos on women to be sexy. I used to see this one guy that thought they were really sexy-now in his case, I personally think the reason was because in the country he was originally from, most people didn't have tattoos. So I think that has something to do with the fact that they turn him on so much, because growing up he probably never saw tattooed women & in his religion it isn't allowed. But that's just him-many guys just find them sexy because they just do. I have some myself, & many men have told me they thought they were sexy-especially the one on my hip, I have a dragon there. But they just look good on some people, & certain designs can sort of accentuate an area or part of them body.

What does a tattoo of a butterfly on your lower back signify?

Q. I just seen people with tattoos of butterflies on their back and i wondered if it meant something or if it didn't.

A. The meanings of tattoo's change over the years and vary between the different kinds og groups of people who like them. When I was younger, Birds and butterfly's meant you were free and didn't keep one steady boyfriend. To the bikers and rockers, it meant loose or slut, to the goth's black butterfly's meant seditive like sleep heroin...or drugs ect... They mean different things to different people I have both birds and butterflies. Ever hear that Tori Amos song "Butterflies?" It's about a woman who only sleeps with men who are not clingy or easily attached. So use your judgement and get what you want...If you do it for anyone else, you'll never do it at all.

My favorite tattoos are snowflakes... I just got them recently I got them because to me... They mean that no two are alike, I got three small ones and in the center of each one I have my 2 son's initials and my partners intials in the larger of the three.

What tattoo symbolizes strength and independence?
Q. i want a new tattoo but im not sure what the symbol iss, can somebody helpp? and jus answer the question i already have tattoos and they all have meaning

A. How about a Dragon, Panther, Or Tiger.

It's what it means to you that counts such as a woman i saw with a butterfly tattoo that symbolized the passing on of one of her family, to me first glance i thought butterfly, freedom, etc. but to the person that gets it it can take on various meanings and hold memories.

Just a realization I had.

Would a tattoo on the wrist be detrimental to ones career?

Q. I've been wanting a (non-offensive) tattoo on my wrist for the longest time. It would either be totally around the wrist, or on the underside of it.

However, I am curious if others think it will be detrimental to my career. I work with computers currently, but plan on going to school to pursue a career as a veterinarian. My idea is that, when absolutely needed, the wrist tattoo can be covered with a watch, bracelet, or long sleeves.

What do you think?

A. I have done my share of hiring over the years. I won't hire anyone, man or woman, that has a tattoo..unless they show on their resume that they were in the military and the tats in questions shows their affiliation to their military service (ie: anchors and daggers on sailers, or an eagle and globe on a Marine). All others with trendy tats are thanked for their time and are not offered jobs. Period.

Why do many female tattoo artists have a similar appearence?

Q. I've noticed that every female tattoo artist I have seen thus far looks very similar. They all have a dark/alternative look. I have yet to see one sporting any other look.

*I don't mean to offend anyone. I'm just wondering why this alternative look is so popular among women in this profession.

A. They all do kind of look similar X) I imagine it's hard to be taken seriously as a tattoo artist when you don't have any tattoos/piercings though. It's kind of the culture of the business from what I can tell.

Where is a good place in Portland Oregon to get a very intricate tattoo done?
Q. I am going to get an alchemical sun on my ankle, but the face will be very antique looking- not cartoony. SHould I die it I am not sure....Will I not like how it looks when it grows out? what if I do not like it?

A. "My mom is a hair dresser and I love my hair." Your mom should have hair coloring experienced, as well. Ask her! If not . . . .

Style meets chemistry meets biology: We're talking hair coloring.

Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, or doing a manicure, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

The chemical is not new and is present in a number of brands of dark hair colours, acting to help adhere the dye to the hair so that it doesn't wash out. Its made from coal tar and is used in both permanent and semi-permanent hair colours. Its well-known to be a cause of serious allergic reactions -- including something called contact dermatitis which can lead to rashes, blisters, and open sores.
PPD is sometimes added to black henna tattoos and that using them is not safe. Allergic reactions usually begin within two to 10 days following application. One bad reaction can lead to sensitivities to other products such as hair dye, sunblock and some types of clothing dyes. Oftentimes, it's using the product a second or third time.

The British woman who went into coma after a reaction to hair dye has died after a year. Updated 11-25-12. The woman suffered a heart failure, struggled for breath and became unconsciousness. Her family blamed paraphenylenediamine, a chemical found in hair colour. Her family has now called for paraphenylenediamine to be banned from home dye kits. In 2000, a 38-year-old Indian-origin woman from Birmingham, Narinder Devi, died after an allergic reaction to hair dye.

What hair color is prettiest ?! 10POINTS**?
Q. Which hair color do you like the bestt?!10 points?

I'm a brunette and want to go lighter! which color do you think is prettiest thanks (: here is myfour option ideas : http://m.pinterest.com/rachalexandria1/hair-color-choices/

A. I get tons of compliments with my 4 natural colors, thank you!

Blondes vs. Brunettes.
Researchers/some guy in his basement working for Superdrug surveyed 1,000 men, determining that 54 percent of them would choose a brunette to be their wife. A minority 16 percent preferred blonde hair, while 30 percent of participants shrugged their shoulders and asked when they would have access to the free doughnut holes they were promised when they signed up for the study (the answer, sadly, was never).
Other useless information gleaned from this researcher: men think women with brown hair take better care of their appearance, make better cooks.

. . . .
Go lighter if you want to look older than your mom.

My church friend went blonde, or ash blonde, who knows, her orig. hair color was black, now she's older looking than her mom - 56. It didn't even go with her complexion, and she's hating every minute of it.
She's in her 30's. If you're getting bored with your hair, try to teach yourself to style your hair so you can be more unique. I can do mine 7 different ways a week, takes 2-10 mins. I've posted 60 photos in 25 months. If I can do it, so can you!

London, Feb 20, 2013 I've been saying that since 2009.
Hair dyes, which include home hair colouring kits and those used at pricey salons, are linked to deadly cancer-causing chemicals, warn scientists. In 2009 the Mail revealed that women who used hair dyes more than nine times a year had a 60% greater risk of contracting blood cancer.
A year later the European Commission banned 22 hair dyes which put long-term users at risk of bladder cancer. < < < <
