Tattoo help please and thank you?

Q. I just turned 17 and I live in New York State, and you need to be 18 to get a tattoo. My boyfriend wants to get me a tattoo for Valentines day and the guy who does his said he would do mine. I want one so bad, but I know my mom would say no probably, so I'm thinking about just going and getting it done, and then eventually telling her. Yes I've thought a lot about it and I know they're permanent. I know I won't regret it. What should I do? Should I tell her before I get it done? Or get it done and then tell her..

This is the one I want..Any advice and how much will it hurt on a scale of 1-10? I've read your ribs hurt the most, but this tattoo fits me perfectly and I love it :) Thanks

A. Why would you want this tattoo artist to risk being sued or no longer having a job just so you can illegally get a tattoo? That seems extremely immature. If you are so dead set certain you will "not regret it" then waiting you're 18 should be no challenge at all. It's a life time that you'll have it for. Act like an adult and wait until you are legally old enough and don't disrespect the woman that gave you life by hiding something from her. If you know it's going to hurt her, why not just wait?? It's forever. A few months won't kill you.

where to find a cheap tattoo kit?
Q. My brother is doing an apprenticeship with this tattoo guy and i want to surprise him for Christmas with a tattoo kit but i am on a budget because of all the stuff i have to buy but i would like a reasonable one. Please let me know thanks.

A. if he is active in an apprenticeship do not buy him a kit. he will most likely receive equipment from the artist. the machines and equipment in these so called professional kits are cheap for a reason. there is only one "kit" i have ever run across that i would consider suggesting and that is from new york tattoo. they have a pretty descent kit for a bit under 500.00. again, the rest of them are cheap for a reason. the machines are not any good and built with cheap materials. good machines are built by artists that know what they are doing and the best materials are. they use there time, there passion for the art and there knowledge in order to create a good machine.

here is a link to a kit, if i had to, would recommend.
http://www.newyorktattoo.com/intermediate_tattoo_kit_1944_prd1.htm

but again, i strongly suggest you not getting him a kit. just give him the money you would have spent on a kit. when he gets to the point in his apprenticeship when he actually begins to do some work he will use the artists equipment. when he begins to do his own stuff he will by then have a preference when it comes to the equipment he likes. a tattoo artist and the equipment he prefers is worst than a woman and her shoes...LOL

Fiction Books that take place in New York City?
Q. I want a fiction book that takes place in New York City. I looked over the internet a little but didnt find too much of my interest. Here is what I found( I put the summary so you can see what type of book I am looking for):

Candace Bushnell-4 Blondes
Summary: Come to the playgrounds of Manhattans powerful and beautiful. Get an insiders look at the romantic intrigues, liaisons, and betrayals among the elite. This novel chronicles the lives of four beautiful womena model, a columnist, a socialite, and a writeras they face turning points in which each must choose between her passions.

J.M Mcdonell-Half Crazy
Summary:Miranda, a beautiful blond from Arkansas, moves into a New York "garden" (a big city euphemism for basement) apartment with an unfinished dirt floor. It's like a bad joke: she has come to make it big as a fashion model. As she moves in with her dog, Pete, she meets upstairs neighbor David, who's gay and writes bad romance novels. She and David fast become good friends. What's more, within days Miranda lands a big fashion job, and within months her face is on the covers of major magazines. But, jealousy and trouble soon follow.

Lauren Henderson-Strawberry Tattoo
Summary:Sam Jones, sculptress and reluctant sleuth, can't resist the opportunity to do Manhattan when she's invited to New York for a group show at a gallery featuring young British artists. New York, loud and brash as Sam herself, welcomes her with open arms and plenty of her favorite margaritas. She's even reunited with Kim, a best friend from childhood who's transformed herself into a quintessential New Yorker, complete with weekly spinning classes and an East Village studio apartment. Despite Sam's promise to stay out of trouble, however, trouble keeps finding her -- one of the gallery's employees is found strangled in Central Park's Strawberry Fields not long after Sam arrives, and the gallery itself has been trashed with graffiti. While Sam's new Manhattan friends pop Prozac and fret about the police investigation, the rest of the young Brits turn up in New York, including the one Sam drunkenly groped in a club not so long ago. Will the exhibition be a success? Will Sam's current boyfriend -- the dashing actor Hugo -- find out about her moment of abandon? And will the details of the strawberry tattoo give away the murderer's identity before Sam herself becomes a target?

It dosn't have to be about crime...I perfer not. want something that has to do with love, life or dreams such as the books above. Also something that dosn't takes Place in the olden days. Some book that takes place in the modern day.

Please tell me the books that you have found and a short summary of it. THANKS!

P.S.I love N.Y! lol.

A. The Clique

Although the characters in the book go to many different places, most of the action in the stories take place in Westchester County, New York. The girls go to school at Octavian Country Day School (OCD), a private all-girls school. Other incidents occur at the Briarwood Academy (OCD's boys school), the Westchester mall, and at various characters' houses.

Massie Block: Massie Block is the alpha (leading) member of her group of friends (known collectively as the "Pretty Committee"). This clique is at the head of the 'food chain' at their prestigious private school, Octavian County Day (OCD). Usually she is the most popular in her group. She is very spoiled and is usually very snobbish, but she has a vulnerable side that shows up when she is under pressure. Massie is known for her wardrobe (designer labels), her quick wit, and her desire to shine above everyone.

Alicia Rivera: Alicia Rivera is Massie's beta (second in command), but her personality doesn't quite shine like Massie's does. Alicia is also a bit kinder in nature than Massie, but tends to be a gossip. Alicia is also known for her wardrobe (heavily influenced by Ralph Lauren), and for her exotic beauty (her mother is an internationally-known Spanish model).

Dylan Marvil: Dylan Marvil is the Pretty Committee's source to the showbiz world, for her mother is famous talk show host for a television show called The Daily Grind. Dylan is bubbly and talkative. Her trademarks are her fiery red hair, her brightly colored style, and her obsession with her weight. (She has tried various fad diets, but does not stick to any of them for very long).

Kristen Gregory: Kristen Gregory is an all-star soccer player at school. However, she is by no means a tomboy. She is a fan of designer clothes, but she cannot afford them (her father, a former rich art dealer, lost his money prior to the series' inception). Kristen is highly intelligent (She is on a scholarship at OCD) and beautiful with her long blond hair. Her trademarks are playing word games, being athletic and avoiding being caught by her parents.

Claire Lyons: Claire Lyons moved from Orlando, Florida to Westchester, New York. Her dad was good friends with Massie's dad in college, so the Blocks allow them to move into the guesthouse. Claire's family is not rich and privileged like the other girls, so she has a hard time adjusting. She is known for her individualism, her non-designer style, and her Keds.

Microphone tattoo idea need suggestions on how to capture a perfect image of peace it brings and unity.?
Q. Well, I need some ideas for expression of the beautiful music of Hip hop not the ignorant rap murderers that contributed to the demolition of this art and poetry when done correctly. Never the less i want a microphone that shows I love it and truly a passion for my self to have as a state not for looks or to show off that's meaning less if it's no value if you get a tattoo that you regret. By the way it's going to be on my upper arm. I had ideas of a microphone with New York in it knowing it sprung during the 70's with B Boys and Girls, graffti, mcing, and djing. Excuse the grammar if it's not correct. The downfall to this is that I'm 15.. I know that could be severe consequences and all how I will regret but I do want this and know what I'm doing being mature enough to have something so brash and permanent. Ever since I was seven I was fascinated with the artistry of all music not just hip hop but rock and roll, jazz and so on. But where I grew up it was a escape for me to pick of the pen with a ( Reason ) not just the profit and fame it can bring that means nothing if no love revolves around it! I want to see peace but that's truly impossible look how we treat each other and I'm part of this generation it's sad we as the youth are to easily influenced. Not all are like this but a vast majority is stuck in a deep abyss because of the lack of pure role models saying killing, disrespect towards women, drugs, smoking weed and just having money is what life is about. Man fuck the industry I say that broadly with a firm aggressive tone! Ruined it with putrid schemes just for the market rap can be to the public with radio garbage we are fed daily but I refuse to hand over my attention to what "they" think we as a society want to hear. Truly I'm yearning to continue with overall knowledge not just music but the shit hole world we live in with lies and cheats and corrupted government of America. Cocky arrogant pricks, I'm part of the African American male population but am mixed with caucasian basically light skinned male. Haha I'm getting carried away with this looks like a huge rant. Back to the point I need to act on my rebel in my thoughts and do something to bring change! ANYONE I MC BY THE WAY YOU DON'T HAVE TO EVEN READ THIS IT'S OPTIONAL, BUT I GO BY EmC, which means "Eternally Making Craft" It's almost impossible to make it but I don't care I'm happy if I'm able to at least get those lyrics on the pad and improve every day with all motives and ways to enhance my self. Unique is what I'm trying to bring I have this style called reversable flow, inspired by those who made their own type of mcing, including Das EFX, Bone Thugs, Brotha Lynch Hung. No one is going to read this it's to long. IDEAS IDEAS to show microphone with depth on how it brings peace and my love for it. DONE
EmC Advanced Thoughts

A. Whoa!!! Your question is so wordy that most people won't read it. I only read half, and skimmed the rest!
So, instead of all of these words, why don't you spend some time looking for an image, or images that have elements in them that are what you are thinking? Then a skilled and talented tattoo artist can transform this into a custom tattoo design for you, taking your anatomy in mind along with your references.
And you need to wait.
If you truly want a good tattoo to carry with you through your life, then you will act maturely and do what is best to get the best tattoo. You need to wait until your body has fully grown so that your tattoo does not distort. You need to wait until you are emotionally mature, so that you will know that this is something that you will want 10 - 30 - 50 yrs from now... not just NOW. You need to mentally finish growing also, because it is a proven fact that your brain is not mature, and your decision making skills are far from where they will be in a few years.
So if you really want the best tattoo showing all of your thoughts and feelings etc. then you will wait, and while waiting you will do your research, and find images and find the best tattoo artist, and you will save your money so that you can pay for the best and tip well. You will research the most current and correct ways of dealing with aftercare, and you will use a high SPF sunblock for the rest of your life.

http://galadarling.com/article/how-to-get-a-great-tattoo-and-never-regret-it

In the mean time, you need to buy journals and pens and write down everything that you think. Maybe you will end up with a fine novel by the time you get your tattoo... really.

luck~

I have a crush on my former student?
Q. I used to teach her when she was in 8th grade. I was 29 and she was 14. I had NO feelings for her at all. I am not a pedophile. :)
She was one of the best students I've ever had! She liked the same type of music that I did and she was as sarcastic as I was. She also loved tattoos (Like me)
She's transferred from the school I was teaching at when she was in 10th grade.
Right now I'm 36 years old. I was out buying some groceries when I saw this young lady covered in tattoos who looked familiar but I couldn't quite tell who this woman was, so I just forgot about it and continued browsing the aisles. After about 5 minutes this girl comes up to me and says " Excuse me are you Mr.Christopher?"
Right when she started to speak I knew it was my former student! She seemed happy to see me again and we spoke together for about an hour. I had to leave because I had a doctors appointment at the time so she gave me her number to call her so we could catch up.
I found out that shes moved to New York. (We live in Ohio) she was just coming to Ohio to visit her brother. And she's an artist.Which I find pretty cool. She's now 22 years old.
Over the time I've spent talking to her (Six months) I've grown feelings for her. I just think that's a little weird since I was her teacher and all...
I just want to know if it would be inappropriate if I were to ask her out.

A. Do it! I think this story is really cute!

Can you breastfeed after having your nipples pierced?

Q. I had my nipples pierced about three months ago, and my fianci and I want to start a family after the wedding, but I want to breastfeed still. Can I still breastfeed with my new body jewelry?

A. http://www.llli.org//llleaderweb/LV/LVJunJul99p64.html
Is there breastfeeding after nipple piercing? The BREASTFEEDING ANSWER BOOK asserts that there is no evidence to show nipple piercing has any effect on a woman's ability to breastfeed. Self-proclaimed "Hip Mama" Arid Gore agrees. In her book, The Hip Mama Survival Guide, Gore offers suggestions for pierced breastfeeding mothers. "Remove nipple rings and seek advice from a reputable organization like La Leche League for help and support with breastfeeding."

Mita Saldana, a professional body piercer with the Chicago-based studio, Body Basics, says she's pierced many nipples and has never had a complaint about problems with breastfeeding. Many of Saldana's clients are also friends. This affords her a unique vantage point from which to observe these women from the moment of a piercing, through the healing process, to life with a pierced nipple. One of Saldana's clients, a piercer herself, had her nipples pierced and went on to breastfeed. "She had no problems." said Saldana. Most nipples are pierced horizontally though some clients prefer a vertical piercing. Horizontal piercing seems better suited for breastfeeding according to Elisabeth Speller, an Australian lactation consultant.

Breastfeeding has been around since the dawn of time: body modification also has a long history. Some of the body piercing dates back to 1400 BC. Throughout history women and men have pierced their nipples for religious or spiritual reasons, beautification, decoration, protection, social rank or status. Today, according to many sources, nipple piercing seems to have two primary functions, beautification and sexual stimulation. "The piercing of the nipple is sensual, attractive and often encourages the nipple to become larger, more pronounced and more sensitive," according to Gauntlet, Inc. a professional piercing service with studios in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, USA.

Tom Rael, a professional piercer and tattoo artist with Addictive Ink in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA says different piercings serve different functions. "Usually those that are visible are for decoration, shock value, or to make a personal statement. Those that are not visible, such as genital and nipple piercing, are generally for sexual gratification.”

Nothing in life, nipple piercing included, is without risk. A piercer from a southwestern USA tattoo parlor who wishes to remain nameless says. "No one will pierce a pregnant woman. What she feels the baby feels. It's just not a good time." An apprentice piercer of two years declares, "It's a trauma to get pierced and no one wants to traumatize the fetus or the mother." Other professional piercers agree. They will not pierce a pregnant woman and recommend against piercing while breastfeeding. Mita Saldana goes a step further and recommends piercing at least a year before becoming pregnant. The average healing time for nipples is three to six months. For some people healing may take longer. Saldana feels that a year before pregnancy gives a woman's body ample opportunity to heal.

http://www.breastfeedingbasics.com/html/ask/pierced.shtml
There is no evidence that pierced nipples will affect your ability to breastfeed. Your breasts will still produce adequate milk for your baby, and unless your body rejected the piercing right after you had it done, there is no reason to anticipate any additional problems with infection. Horizontal piercings are more common than vertical, and seem to be more compatible with nursing.
You will need to remove the jewelry when you nurse. Leaving it can cause problems. It will be difficult for your baby to form the nipple and press it against the roof of his mouth if there is a piece of metal in the way. Latching on correctly at the breast is a skill that newborn babies have to learn, and it can take awhile for them to get the hang of it even with an un-pierced nipple. While it may be possible for him to latch onto a nipple with jewelry in it, it will make it more difficult for him, and may cause pain as the ring presses against the soft tissue of his tongue and palate. Healthy babies are born with a very strong suck, and it's entirely possible that the ring could dislodge while he's nursing and he might choke on it.
It would be best for you to remove the rings completely for the first few weeks of nursing. Newborn babies nurse a lot (10-12 times or more in 24 hours) and it would be a hassle to keep taking them in and out that often.
Once your milk supply is established and your baby isn't nursing as often, you can replace the rings between feedings if you want to. I can't guarantee that the holes won't grow back together in that time, but if you replace the jewelry once a day and then take it out, that should help keep the holes open.
It can take about three to six months after piercing for the hole to heal completely. It is recommended that you not remove the rings for six to t

What's the significance of that painting? The one of a farmer with pitch fork and his wife looking at him?
Q. What's it called and what's its significance?
I have the feeling its iconic in some way. If yes than what?

A. American Gothic
by Grant Wood, 1930
Oil on beaverboard
74.3 × 62.4 cm, 29¼ × 24½ in
Art Institute of Chicago

From
http://www.bookrags.com/research/american-gothic-sjpc-01/
This painting of a stern-visaged, tight-lipped, nineteenth-century country couple posed in front of their pristine farmhouse has become not only one of the most reproduced images in American popular culture, it has also virtually become emblematic of the moral fiber and simple virtues for which America is said to stand. Painted by Grant Wood in 1930, American Gothic has been interpreted both as homage to the artist's Midwestern roots and as slyly witty commentary on American "family values." After winning an important prize in 1930, American Gothic quickly became, as Robert Hughes notes, "Along with the Mona Lisa and Whistler's Mother … one of the three paintings that every American knows…. One index of its fame is the number of variations run on it by cartoonists, illustrators, and advertisers…. The couple in front of the house have become preppies, yuppies, hippies, Weathermen, pot growers, Ku Klux Klaners, jocks, operagoers, the Johnsons, the Reagans, the Carters, the Fords, the Nixons, the Clintons, and George Wallace with an elderly black lady." In the visual culture of the millennium, American Gothic remains the most potent and pervasive symbol of America's heartland mythology, as witnessed by its perpetual permeation into all areas of popular culture.

From
http://www.bookrags.com/wiki/American_Gothic
In 1930, Grant Wood, an American painter with European training, noticed a small white house built in Carpenter Gothic architecture in Eldon, Iowa. Wood decided to paint the house along with "the kind of people I fancied should live in that house." He recruited his sister Nan to model the woman, dressing her in a colonial print apron mimicking 19th century Americana. The man is modeled on Wood's dentist, Dr. Byron McKeeby of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Wood entered the painting in a competition at the Art Institute of Chicago. The judges deemed it a "comic valentine," but a museum patron convinced them to award the painting the third medal and $300 cash prize. The patron also convinced the Art Institute to buy the painting, where it remains today. The image soon began to be reproduced in newspapers, first by the Chicago Evening Post and then in New York, Boston, Kansas City, and Indianapolis. However, Wood received a backlash when the image finally appeared in the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Iowans were furious at their depiction as "pinched, grim-faced, puritanical Bible-thumpers". One farmwife threatened to bite Wood's ear off. Wood protested that he had not painted a caricature of Iowans but a depiction of Americans.

Art critics who had favorable opinions about the painting, such as Gertrude Stein and Christopher Morley, also assumed the painting was meant to be a satire of rural small-town life. It was thus seen as part of the trend towards increasingly critical depictions of rural America, along the lines of Sherwood Anderson's 1919 Winesburg, Ohio, Sinclair Lewis' 1920 Main Street, and Carl Van Vechten's The Tattooed Countess in literature. However, with the onset of the Great Depression, the painting came to be seen as a depiction of steadfast American pioneer spirit.

where to find a cheap tattoo kit?
