Is it bad form to ask a tattoo artist to modify their flash?

Q. Hey y'all I accompanied my friend to the tattoo shop earlier today and fell in love with a drawing on the artists flash sheet. I'm seriously considering it as a tattoo and I love it as is but would love it even more if I could add a flower to the hair of the woman in the image. Would an artist be offended if I asked to do this? I want it for a number of reasons--mainly the added symbolism and the fact that it would slightly distinguish my tattoo from anyone else who also decides to get it.

A. no its not bad form
but while asking keep complementing it, and say how interested you are in getting if only you could add something to it, and add that you what that added in, means more money for them anyway
just be polite and make jokes tattoo artists are pretty friendly if you get on their good side

How do I pick a position for the tattoo of a woman Im getting?
Q. I want to get Demona from Gargoyles tattooed on my back. I need to figure out a position she will be in. I have a tattoo of a moon on the center of my upper back and I wanted to have Demona some how go with it IF POSSIBLE. (Which it probably isn't.) I was wondering if there is any application or flash animation program where I can mold a female figure until i come up with the right position.

A. Good luck with your tat! There are many animation programs that can help you. You could take a picture of your back and use Adobe Photoshop (or any Adobe programs) to impose a picture of the character in different positions to see where you like it best.

i want to be a plus size model... can someone help me with information?

Q. I'm 5`8 size 24, i'm curvy, but am i plus size model material?

A. You need to consider a few things before pursuing such a career. There are requirements for plus size models, and they include height and size restrictions. You need to be at least 5’8” (5’10” is preferable in the bigger markets like NYC, Miami, L.A., etc) and fall between sizes 8 and 16/18. Yes, plus sizes start at size 8 as far as agencies are concerned. You need to be well-proportioned, toned and in good shape, have great skin, hair and teeth, and be quite photogenic - let's not forget - we're talking about MODELING. It also helps if you have few, if any, tattoos. If you have these things going for you, I encourage you to attend an open call at an agency near you that represents plus size models. You can find one by calling agencies that are listed in your local yellow pages and asking if they rep plus size girls, and then asking when their plus size open calls occur. You will need to get in front of an agent who will determine your marketability in this industry and advise you accordingly. Walk in wearing light makeup, simple but well-fitting clothing, and lose the high heels - they will know how tall you are so don't try to fudge it. Bring some simple shots of yourself that show your face and your full body - they don't need to be professional shots. They will look at your photos and will see your potential without all the makeup. You may be measured on the spot, or asked to be photographed in your underwear, so get rid of your inhibitions NOW.

You need to be in or near a large market – smaller towns don’t normally have modeling agencies, let alone plus size divisions. Your competition knows where to go, and they are going there, believe me. You can be stunningly beautiful, but if you can’t make it to an open call or casting because you live too far away and cannot travel at the drop of a hat, you definitely have a strike against you. Your competition is thrilled to know that you don't have the money for a bus ticket or that your car is in the shop - means more opportunity for them!

If you are marketable, the agent will ask you to do several test shoots that you have to pay for, so please be ready to spend money and time developing your look. Agencies do not typically pick up these fees – the model must do so. (You will need to spend money to get your career off the ground - modeling is not a get-rich-quick career. If you have kids and/or school to finish, you need to plan how you're going to balance it all.) You may be asked to cut/trim/color your hair, get manicures and pedicures and to hit the gym before the shoot. You will be given a list of photographers that you can call to schedule a shoot, and you will pay them directly. A good agency will never ask for money directly – it’s a transaction between you and the photog. If you want to get the most out of your test shoots, you should hire a makeup artist, hair stylist and fashion stylist to work on the shoot with you.

When your shots come back, your potential agent will see if you have what it takes, and then she/he will submit your photos to clients and see what kind of response you get. They usually submit a comp card, which is a collection of photos that you need to pay for, to the clients to get their feedback. There are no guarantees, and you will only work if clients like/need your look.

You can visit the plus size modeling thread at www.curvychick.com and get advice from working models, photographers, stylists, makeup artists and others within the industry. Take any support you get with a grain of salt - there are plenty of women who will say that you've "got it," but they usually just want to be nice and not have a hand in dashing your dreams. I personally don't want a hand in misleading anyone. AND if someone says you don't really have it, don't take it personally - you're not being judged as a person, not on your looks, but on your marketability - if you can't take the heat you should find another career.

Torrid shoots "customer" or real person models for their site (but use professional models for the ad campaigns), and you don't need to be model material for that. They just want cute girls who fit the clothes, and you need to be near the studio in which they shoot (southern CA I think).

If a young man has large tattoos on the backs of his hands and fingers, can he avoid the draft this way?

Q. I am a female, and do not advocate draft dodging. I am just curious. I think that it is against military rules for a military man (or woman) to have tattoos on the backs of their hands.

Just curious that if a young man already has them before he is drafted, will the tattoos disqualify him for service?

A. Will depend on how extensive they are and what they are. A draft situation would over write a lot of rules do to the need for soldiers.

How many words could fit on a forearm tattoo?
Q. For the average women. I've been seeing some women who have paragraphs on their forearms but I can't wrap my mind around how many words they could actually fit.

A. I know words are the style right now, but they show a lack of creativity & imagination. Your body is not a note pad. Get an image that has that meaning, instead of just writing all over yourself.

What is the big deal about women getting tattoos?

Q. I'm getting a tattoo in July, and I've been reading about tattoos to make sure it is safe. And I keep seeing these articles about how women with tattoos are "disgusting". How can a beautiful women with a nice feminine tattoo be disgusting? Why can men get sleeves, but if a woman gets a some-what large tattoo its considered terrible?

A. I`m old fashioned and prefer women with no tattoos. To me it`s advertising to be in a lower class, especially the body tattoos that are very visible no matter how they dress. I don`t look down on people with tattoos, I just prefer their natural self. To each their own and freedom to all.

Would you feel comfortable having your daughter date a guy who had the playboy bunny logo tattooed on his back?
Q. And a naked woman tattooed on his chest. And also a tattoo of Che Guevara?

I ask because I'm 17, and my boyfriend is 18, and my parents feel really uncomfortable about his tattooes.
That's where my parents and I disagree, if he didn't respect women, then why would he have a woman tattooed on his body in the first place?

A. Is he rude? Disrespectful? Mean to you?

Personally i dont care what someone has tattoed on their body if they treat my daughter right its really meaningless.

Try to get your parents to see past the tattoos if he is nice to you then it shouldnt matter to them and they will hopefully see past his appearance to who he really is.

I have a question regarding God's commands in the Old Testament; can anyone help?

Q. Levitus and other Old Testament books have so many rules. It even talks about not getting tattoos(Levitus19:28)! Do they apply anymore, since we have the New Testament now?

A. The Law against tattoos was put there because God wanted His people to be separated from the pagans around them who would do things like trim their beards in a certain way and get tattoos as part of their "dressing up" for their pagan worship ceremonies.

While God still calls His people to be separated from pagans, things like tattoos have to be understood in the cultural contest of why the law was given. It's like I don't think God wants His children to get tattoos of skulls or naked women because that wouldn't be a good representation to the world of the values of a child of the living God of Heaven.

As to the different laws in the Old Testament, all of the moral laws are still in full effect because they represent God's unchanging plan for how the people that He made in His image are to conduct themselves on His planet.

The sacrificial, ceremonial, and holiness laws which were meant to be outward symbols of the inner holiness that God desires His people to exhibit have all been fulfilled by the Lord Jesus and the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

Matthew 15:16 So Jesus said, "Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. 16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

Hebrews 10:1 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect...11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

Christians are now under the Law of Love

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'

Romans 13:9 For the commandments, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY," "YOU SHALL NOT MURDER," "YOU SHALL NOT STEAL," "YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS," "YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

What is and isn't attractive on a girl?
Q. Do you rather stick skinny girls, a little weighty, or curvy/round? Do you rather long hair, short hair, or in between? Whichever, do you rather blonde or brown? Are toes and fingers a major factor? Do you have to have coloured eyes, or is brown suitable? Do you like more than just ear piercings? Are tattoo's too repulsive and rebellious? [Add anything else.]

A. Here's the deal...

If met women that were perhaps not very attractive, but they had great personalities that made them seem attractive. Another thing that helps a woman (or girl) be attractive in the eyes of a man is to wear NICE clothes. So many people seem to go out of their way to "dress ugly", as if it were a contest to look like a total dork. There's nothing like a woman in a nice dress, skirt or pant suit, with dress heels and a bit of jewelry to accent her clothing.

My preference is for...

Short hair
Eye Glasses (I think they are sexy)
Skirt suits
Heels
Modest jewelry
Pleasant fragrance
Personable

Hair color and eye color don't matter. Nicely done nails are fine, but I think that the airbushed look is a bit too much (sorta looks like trailer trash).

Turn-offs are...piercings, tattoos, and women that have to always be preoccupied with their electronic gadgets (cell phones or iPods).

Christians: how do you know your religious experience wasn't from Zeus or Odin?
Q. How do you know that it wasn't the leprechauns trying to trick you? Or possibly an alien who drugged you? What do you base the proof that your religious experience was from the Christian God and no other God?

A. There was a time when aliens (=demon angels who rebelled against God) mated with human women producing about 300000 giants. God sent a flood to wipe the giants and 700000 evil people out. only a few animals and 8 people (Noah, his wife, their three sons and three daughters-in-law) were saved in an ark-ship. Atlantis (where aliens made humans their puppets) was preserved underneath Mariana Trench. Noah had white hair (so, he was either albino or a blond). His kids were white, red, and black. So, this explains the races. Then, later, people gathered and built a tower of Babel to fight God. God burned the top third of the tower, 1/3 sank inside the earth. God confused the language into 70 different languages. 1/3 of builders killed each other because of misunderstanding, 1/3 ran away, 1/3 were cursed and became ape- and elephant-like. This explains the apemen skeletons, which atheists proclaim to be proof of evolution. Concerning dinosaurs, they live beneath the earth, and will come out for a while to put scientists to shame. Bible predicts the rise of a world leader. His description: white-skinned, red eyes, and gay. If anyone worships him, they go to hell. Also, Bible predicts that when one stretches their hand to receive a new small gray world passport, a small green tattoo will be given (mark of the beast). If anyone receives this tattoo, they go to hell. Also, if anyone goes into a ufo ship to be healed (or for any reason at all), they're screwed. Why? Because ufos=demons=aliens=ascended masters=ghosts=channeled entities=dead relatives during seances=enlightened beings=fallen angels will make humans into zombies. So, the Bible basically says: "Join Jesus (God) and the good angels to fight aliens and dinosaurs.
God created women and men so that humans can reproduce. All the angels are male. Number of angles is set and they don't need to reproduce because they're immortal. People that go to heaven don't reproduce there either because their souls are immortal, too. God is immortal, without beginning, and male. Humans (human bodies) don't have a big life span. So they need to reproduce to sustain human presence on earth, so to speak. God created people (man and woman) in his own image. The first rebels against God were some rebel planets (physical objects) who didn't follow their appointed course set by God, then 1/3 of angels (aliens), then animals (the snake in the garden of Eden), then the woman Eve, then the man Adam.

If you got a tattoo of a nude woman could you get expelled from school?

Q. I was just wondering because I was browsing the internet for tattoo ideas and saw this one I was really interested in. The only problem is there is 1 nude woman. I was just wondering if I were to get this tattoo, would there be a possibility of me getting suspended or even expelled from school? Thanks =D

A. Possibly if you get it some where that the naked woman is going to be visible. Some people do find naked people offensive specially if they are conservative or religious. Try to get it in a spot where you can keep the naked woman covered, or put a few items on the woman to cover her up a bit.

Q. What would you do if your boyfriend or girlfriend got married women girls name from work tattoo to their arm? Well my boyfriend did this after I left him the first time because we was rushing things and it got out of hand plus we was planning a wedding, but anyways my boyfriend got those married woman name on his arm plus his sister, and underneath it, it says best friends. Do you think he needs to get it covered or put my name on his arm too? I think he needs to show some respect!

A. Oh brother. If you don't like it, then talk to him about it.

What is the tackiest tattoo you have ever seen?
Q. Forget the damn butterflies, the black (terribly drawn) panther on the calve or the double hearts on the upper arm. I've seen plenty of tacky tattoos, but the tackiest of all was a woman with a Tweety tattoo (not kidding!) Can you top this one?

A. One of my friends has the "Your name" tattoo on his butt. His mom has a rose tattooed on her right breast and shows it to anybody who asks to see it.Not just the tattoo but the whole breast. The tackiest however. One of my coworkers has a vagina tattoo on his neck.He has to wear turtlenecks when we have company visit the plant so he doesnt offend anyone.

How painful is a tattoo on your forehead?

Q. Don't give me a speech or preach about tattoo on my forehead I want it a little above the between of my eyes a simple stick cross. How painful would this be?

A. I answer these questions related to pain in the same way every time.

The pain in different places differs from person to person, pain threshold does have a lot of input but, for example, my chest tattoo didn't hurt at all, where as some people I know said their chest tattoo hurt a lot!

Anyway, here's a basic pain level chart I always reffer people to.

Pain level 1
These include the upper arm, forearm, calf, Bum, and Thigh. For a 1st tattoo these are great points to begin your inked journey.

Pain level 2
These include the centre back, front / side of thighs and shoulders. This is also not too bad a start for your first tattoo. The shoulders and central back region can be area that require quite a lot of movement. The skin on these areas is much looser meaning it takes longer to tattoo and also longer to heal. On areas that have lots of movement such as these, require more care once a tattoo is completed. Due to the thigh area being quite a dense muscle mass and also quite tight skin, it may tend to bruise the day after.

Pain level 3
These include the knees, elbows, hands, head, neck, feet, chest and back of thighs. Beginners beware of starting at these areas. You would need to be determined to have tattoos here as the high sensitivity would require a lot of mental focus to get you through. The poor quality of skin on both the knees and elbows will result in a very slow tattoo process and nerves are very close to the surface in these areas. This could result in the tattooing being unbearable for any length of time for some people. As with the orange areas these tend to be high movement areas and will require a longer healing timescale. You may find that to achieve a good solid colour, you may have to repeat the tattoo process on these areas. As a side note the chest area on men can be much more sensitive to pain than a woman, yet due to the tighter skin on a male, the tattoo can be completed quicker.

Pain level 4 (OWCHIE!)
Areas include hips, ribcage, stomach, back of knees, armpit, inside of elbow, nipples, lips, inside of thighs and genitals. Are you really sure you want to get that tattoo? As these areas can elicit crying, half finished tattoos or even the customer passing out. This could just be more than you may be able to handle. All of these purple areas are considered by most to be the most painful areas to be tattooed. The stretchy or thin skin over bone are slow to tattoo, some of these may require multiple sessions to achieve solid colour and smooth shading. Healing can be just as painful as receiving the tattoo and may require a few days off from your regular activities.

SOME USEFUL TIPS WHEN GETTING A TATTOO:

•Women are your more sensitive the week prior to and during your cycle. Plan around those dates to have the best experience possible when getting your tattoo.
•Use lotion everyday on the area to be tattooed at least 1 week prior for healthier skin and better results.
•Do not go out in the sun at least one week prior to being tattooed (including tanning beds) This drys the skin and if peeling occurs could damage the tattoo.
•Consider what you will wear for 2 weeks while healing if your tattoo is in an area like the foot, waist, shoulders or chest. Shoes, waistbands, belts, underwear, and bras can all damage tattoos if you do not plan ahead. Find comfortable clothing that will not touch or rub during this time.
•Always eat a good meal before being tattooed and drink plenty of fluids.
•Be sure to get a good nights rest before your appointment.
•Ask what kind of aftercare products you will need when you set up to get your tattoo.
•Mention any allergies you may have, pigments, dyes, perfumes.
•Some medication may thin your blood, check with your doctor before being tattooed.
•Anyone with an autoimmune disorder needs to check with their doctor and should bring a note to be tattooed.

Tattoo Artists: What is considered a quarter sleeve? Where is the line from large tattoo to quarter sleeve?

Q. Just looking for a classification. I think I got a really good deal on what I consider to be a quarter sleeve, however I cannot seem to find anything clearly defining what it is. Half sleeve and full sleeve seem to be pretty self-explanatory. Thanks!

A. A sleeve tattoo of any size by definition wraps all the way around the part of the arm. A large tattoo or a collection of tattoos does not make a sleeve until it wraps all the way around and has background fill so not much if any skin is left peeking through.

Full sleeve - Goes from shoulder to wrist
Half sleeve - Goes from Shoulder to elbow
Quarter sleeve - goes from shoulder to mid bicep or sometimes from wrist up to the middle of the forearm.

It is easier to cover up a quarter sleeve and that is why they are more popular. however these days with how common place tattoos ahve become many people are getting half and full sleeves also. Even women are getting full sleeve tattoo designs. Right now a lot of guys are going for traditional Japanese themes like koi fish, samurai and evil spirits or masks.

For women koi fish are also popular but flowers are pretty common place also.

It is best to decide if you are going to want a full, half or quarter sleeve before working out the design. If you are not sure you can work with the artist on the possibility of leaving the design open to be added on to but typically sleeves that get added on to later don't flow as well. For example a dragon sleeve design might not weave around the arm in the best of ways etc.

How can I get a henna tattoo off?
Q. My friend and I tried henna the yesterday, and I jus want to know how to get it off just in case.

Its made out of henna powder, black tea, lemon juice, and sugar.

A. Exfoliating the skin along with "fading" a design is the only way a henna design will fade. Oils will not remove the design. If your design is less than 24 hours old, it is still "setting" and you may be able stop the color from developing further by simply washing the design in tap water. Most henna artists instruct their clients to avoid tap water for 6 - 24 hours after because the color will continue to develop even after the paste has been removed.

The most mild form of "removal" is to use whitening toothpaste on the henna design. Apply an inexpensive whitening toothpaste to the henna design like a facial mask for about 5 or 10 minutes.

The most practical form of removing a henna design on your hands is to do laundry -- by hand. That will speed up the "demise of the henna" at least 50%. Scrubbing clothes with your hands in the detergent and/or bleach will help get the stains out of your clothes and help fade the design considerably. Many women who get henna actually avoid household tasks for this reason. There are even jokes about it with regard to getting henna and not doing housework: "I can't do that. I just get henna."

You can also apply hydrogen peroxide with a cotton ball to the design, but be sure to moisturize the skin following the application.

If the design is on the palm of the hand or the soles of the feet, the henna demise is the slowest because of the thickness of the skin. If the design is the arms, chest or face, it will fade quicker than if a design on top of the hand. More importantly, if the henna was of very good quality and remained on the skin for long, it may have good staining power no matter where it is placed.

Why do women expect men to shave every ounce of hair off their entire body?

Q. i mean seriously women want us guys to shave our mustache, beard, chest, legs, heck even our pubic area. the only hair women like on guys is the hair on their head. i mean come on ladies don't you think you're taking it to far?

A. there are still plenty of women that like hair on men. At least women over 30 or so.

If I had to shave everything by the time I got finished I'd have to start all over where I began. Got hair everywhere but my forehead, palms, and soles of my feet. Unfortunately, as has been mentioned, being that way is not as popular as it used to be. But Sean Connery still gets away with it. Always did. And I think he's never had much trouble getting laid. Me neither.

In fairness, I don't care if women shave anything either. Actually prefer that they don't.

This new hair is gross crap is rooted in capitalism. No money to be made off of people that are content to be the way they were made. Had to ride the bus home the other day, and jesus, it was an eye-opener. Mexican kids with foot high cockatoo do's, black girls with multicolored, braided, two hundred dollar medusa-like tangles of greasy strings, white suburban punks with those ridiculous three inch long cones sticking through their ears. Bull rings in their snoots. Pierced this, pierced that. Tattoos everwhere that look like they were done with knitting needles and prune juice. Now we're supposed to get rid of all the hair that's not on our heads.

Culturally manipulated twits. The lot. And any woman that expects a guy to shave everything deserves the sort of spineless pushover that would accomodate her.

Would this work to ward off men from an attractive women?
Q. Having an attractive woman wear something that indicates she's gay: eg. a rainbow collar.
Do you think that would work at all?

A. No way! I'm a straight man, and for some reason I find myself to be attracted pretty strongly to bi and gay women. That sounds bad, but really- sexuality is kind of a spectrum. Are you 100% straight? Really, really, really 100%? Not 99%? Or maybe 90%? How about 80%? I've had relationships with women who were primarily into women, but occasionally were attracted to men.

It's not about "turning them straight" or anything like that- I just find that if they're that in touch with themselves, and have the fortitude to be open and accepting of something that mainstream society would expect them to keep in the closet (less these days, thank god), then they are sometimes fun, creative, interesting people. It's stupid to generalize and make these stereotypes, I'm really just speaking about a few individuals in my past- but to answer your question, the "gay" indicator would have to be very strong, and very "anti-man, don't even ask", to put me off.

Example- i know a woman who wears a mullet, no makeup, really unattractive clothing, has a lot of gay tattoos, and is constantly ogling women and talking crap on men- I am definitely not attracted to her! There just isn't a question, and she's made it very clear in regular conversation that she has zero attraction to men, and she's pushed the "butch" thing to the extreme. In my eyes, she is no longer attractive.

If a woman is straight, or likes men, she will have a very hard time hiding behind a little flag unless she is also a very good actress.

A better way to "ward off" men might be a nice big engagement ring, and maybe some religious paraphernalia- cross, bible, etc.

What do you know about Maori of New Zealand?

Q.

A. The indigenous population of New Zealand which was here when James Cook arrived. Supposedly once cannibals and not a homogenous group of people, but many warring tribes ("Iwis"), who were united with the Treaty of Waitangi. They represent about 20% of NZ's population and maintain their language and customs, which includes the Marae, their gathering halls. They have a tradition of expressing issues in gatherings by singing, which can take a long time. Women must earn the right to speak during such gatherings, and will sport a tattoo on their chin to indicate that they have earned that right.
Maori are a barely visible minority in NZ, participating in daily life as everyone does. My neighbours' wives are both Maori. We get on splendidly. I also have some Maori students, and they are incredibly talented (I teach art and design).

what tribal tattoos represent strength?
Q. i want something to represent strength and what ive been through
i like
the word strength on my wrist
a white tiger on my lower back
or a tribal sign
i dont know which but it will be my frist tattoo
and if you can think of one tell me where :)

A. Can't you be strong without getting it emblazoned on your body?
The strongest are those that have been through some kind of hell but don't go on about it much.
It has to be said that tattoos are different on women than men, and tribal tattoos are butch.
The only tribal tattoos for women I know of are the 'Moko' where Maori women got a design below their lower lip. Is that a look that appeals? [I think you're supposed to be a Maori anyway].
Also, it jars when people get tribal tattoos and representational ones.
Be strong. Get something discreet.

Do you think woman look hot with tattoos and body piercings ?

Q. Or do you think it's cheap and makes the woman look hard and sleazy ?They don't call them tramp stamps for nothing.

A. I had my tongue pierced when I was 16 but I went out and got wrecked and bit my tongue and cracked part of my tooth off! Bad move looking back. One of my mates used to have her clit pierced. I would never get that i would be too scared!

Tattoos I have two little ones close together at the bottom of my back. I have a butterfly that me and my mate both have and we got when we were 18. I also have my husbands name I got at 19.

My husband has a couple of tribal (one he designed himself), my name and Sunderland Football Club. They are all in black and I like that on a man like David Beckham yummy. He is getting our daughters name soon when we get more money.

We like watching Miami Ink thats a great programme and the people on it are brilliant tattooists.

Why do lesbians consider tattoos on girls to be sexy?
Q. This happens sooooo much, I just decided to ask. ALOT of lesbians consider tattoos and piercing on women to be hot. Why?!

A. Personally, I don't.
To me, it just looks like self-mutilation...

However, the ones that do find the stereotypical "dyke" look attractive probably just like it because it's making a loud statement as well as making her seem more masculine (maybe because of the whole heteronormative "male" and "female" role thing).

How do I write the word vegetarian in Elven?

Q. It's a strange and odd request, but I'm looking to get this word (or something close to it) tattooed on me. I've been a vegetarian for 22 years now (my entire life), and a huge fan of Tolken. So, if anyone can help me out, it'd be fantastic.

A. Due to the incompleteness of Tolkien's Elven languages I recommend to use a simple transcription of the English word to Tengwar (one of his scripts).
Here is one possible way to write it:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/32039090@N02/8287668894/in/photostream
You can check the letters with:
http://at.mansbjorkman.net/teng_general_english.htm
or http://www.acondia.com/fonts/tengwar/info/english.htm
Please note that I wrote G as J [dʒ], like it is spoken.

In Tolkien's Elven languages my first thought would go to something that might be construed as an insult, depending on how you see yourself. This is due to the difficulty expressing this idea in an incomplete language.

Sindarin (Grey-Elven):
Lassvador (masc.), Lassvadeth (fem.) -> leaf-eater -> lass - leaf + mad- - to eat; here mutated to vad- + -or - male name ending/-eth - female name ending (=woman)
Galasvador/Galasvadeth -> plant-eater -> galas - growth, plant
Galasben -> plant-somebody -> galas + pen - one, somebody; mut. ben
Dictionary: http://www.jrrvf.com/hisweloke/sindar/online/english.html (see A1 and A2)
Grammar: http://folk.uib.no/hnohf/sindarin.htm

Quenya (High-Elven):
Laimamatindo (masc.), Laimamatinde (fem.) -> plant-eater -> laima - plant + mat- - to eat + -indo/-inde - "doer" (person connected to the verbal action)
Laimamo (m.), Laimame (f.) -> plant-person -> laima + -mo/-me - person connected to the noun
Dictionaries:

http://www.ambar-eldaron.com/telechargements/quenya-engl-A4.pdf
Grammar: http://folk.uib.no/hnohf/quenya.htm

If you come up with any (better) ideas and aren't sure about the grammar or want to see them in Tengwar, or if you have any questions about this, feel free to send me a message.

Why would a ghost woman be in my grandmas house, she looks like she wears a old dress sometimes?
Q. She appears in photos, and video tape only. She dresses in a see through dress, she has real long hair. She has left 3-5 finger scratch marks on my uncles neck and my little cousins arm skipping over his tattoo I bought him, Which takes some credibility out of my cousins story.

A. Ghost,I would love it if you could post some photos of what you have captured on film.If I were to venture a guess,it would be someone that lived in the home or on the land at one time. Some times spirits will do this to grab our attention and some need help as far as crossing over.I would try and communicate with this spirit, grab a digital tape recorder and run it and ask some questions, such is there a spirit here, what is your name and why are you here.Play back the tape and see if you find any intelligent responses to the questions that you have asked. This is how paranormal investigators communicate with spirits. If you can possibly post some photos, that would be awesome!

Should I get a scorpion tattoo?

Q. So here's the background story. My step father passed away a few years ago and he was obsessed with scorpions for some reason (no he wasnt a scorpio he was a libra) he even had several scorpion tattoos on his body. Ive always wanted a tattoo, I dont have any now. I figure I get a scorpion tattoo like one of his instead of his name or face like many people do. My boyfriend doesnt think its a good idea because he says scorpions arent femenine, what do you think?

A. i actually find that a nice idea. and me personally, i think your boyfriend is wrong. they may not look feminine but the scorpion symbol is a sign of strength in small form for women. for example women are seen as a weaker individual compared to men, but scorpions represent how strong women can be even if they appear weak and small on the outside. as soon as i saw this question i thought of my favorite youtuber and she has a scorpion on her ribs. here is her tattoo collection video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQ3d23EA-28

if you wind on to 3:00 she gets to the scorpion tattoo and shows a picture. i find it really nice :)

what happened between Chris Brown and Rhianna?
Q. did he beat her up? how does Jay Z get involved

A. A photo that appears to be Rihanna's face with bruises, scratches and swelling from an attack allegedly at the hands of boyfriend Chris Brown was posted Thursday night by the celebrity Web site TMZ.

The close-up image shows a welt above each of the woman's eyebrows, marks on her cheek and around her lips, and general swelling. TMZ did not say how it obtained the photo, when it was taken or by whom.

Hours after the photo was posted, the Los Angeles Police Department launched an internal investigation and asked for the public's help in finding the person who leaked it. A police news release said the image "has the appearance" of one taken during a domestic violence investigation, and classified its release as a case of serious misconduct that could result in termination.

Asked earlier Thursday whether he could confirm the photo's origin, LAPD Officer Jason Lee said only that the department had not released images of the woman who accused Brown, and would not release evidence photos. A spokeswoman for the district attorney said all evidence related to the case was still with police.
Brown was arrested Feb. 8 and booked on suspicion of making felony criminal threats to a woman that authorities have not publicly identified. A person familiar with the situation, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter and requested anonymity, confirmed that the woman was Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty.

The person said some of the injuries shown in the photo — specifically the marks on the woman's forehead — were consistent with the injuries Rihanna sustained.

Prosecutors have asked police to provide more information before deciding what charges, if any, to pursue against Brown. Police have said the 19-year-old singer could face domestic violence charges if prosecutors think they are appropriate.

An Associated Press photo of Rihanna, taken before the party on the night of the incident, shows her with a tattoo of Roman numerals on her left shoulder; the TMZ photo shows the same numerals on the same shoulder. TMZ had previously used its site to debunk a manipulated image that depicted Rihanna with a black eye.

No public statement has been issued on behalf of Rihanna, who turns 21 on Friday. Email and telephone messages left late Thursday with representatives for both Brown and Rihanna were not immediately returned.

Brown released a statement on Sunday, which read in part, "Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired." The statement, which did not mention Rihanna, said Brown was consulting with loved ones, his mother and pastor.

Brown's arrest came roughly 18 hours after he and Rihanna left a pre-Grammy party honoring music mogul Clive Davis. According to police, Brown and a woman were involved in an altercation in a car traveling through the upscale Hancock Park neighborhood shortly after midnight. Police have said the woman had visible injuries, and that Brown was gone from the scene when they arrived.

How do I convince my mom to let me get a tattoo?

Q. I want a tattoo for Christmas my mom said I could get one before but you just never know with her she changes her mind a lot so how do I convince her?

A. if she loves you, she will never change her mind. Part of her job is to protect you from yourslef. At your age you don't know what is best for you.

"Women face more social stigma than men regarding tattoos. Women with tattoos are more likely to have them removed because of embarrassment, body image, or career concerns.Researchers from Texas Tech University found that women with tattoos are more than twice as likely to have them removed (as compared to men with tattoos). Most women are happy with tattoos when they get them, but their feelings changed within the next one to five years. In this study, women found that tattoos began to cause embarrassment, and stopped being a source of uniqueness. Women with tattoos often have to hide them, which limits clothing options and increases feelings of self-consciousness."

Post pregnancy pictures for women who had stomach tattoos?
Q. I have been looking all over for a website that shows pictures of women who have tattoos on their belly, abdomen, upper hip etc. I want to see how many women have had their tattoos deformed or they're fine. I have a really meaningful tattoo that I don't want messed up, but that's not gonna stop me from having a child. I'm just wondering.

A. everyone is different, some people can go through pregnancy without hurting their tattoos... others end up with stretch marks ruining the image.

You won't know how you'll turn out until it happens.

A. It means someone has wasted a lot of money on a pointless tattoo. My business would not hire someone with a tattoo as depicted in the first picture. Very unprofessional. By the way, average wages are $65,000. Second picture would most definitely keep someone from being hired.
Woman in the third picture has ruined her appearance.
Lastly, none of these tattoos will improve you life.

Need some tattoo suggestions?
Q. Ive been thinking about getting a tattoo, particularly an octopus (theres reason behind it, but i wont get into that), but i wasnt sure where to get it, how big to get it.. etc.

Im 19, female, and i usually dress pretty girly, i wear alot of skirts and tank tops.. i just wanted to get it in a spot that wont look trashy or overly masculine. I dont really want a cute looking octopus, i wanted a more gnarly one like this:

A. I think the location of these women's large octopus pieces look really nice and feminine:

Do you think girls with candy colored hair, bright makeup and colorful tattoos are attractive?

Q. I like that look, but I think only a few women can pull it off, the one's with a sweet and spunky personality. They remind me of anime characters... vs... you know, a tattoo covered clown. I would go for that look, but I can't have hair and makeup like that for my job, and I wouldn't want to be covered in tattoos for the rest of my life.

A. Totally - but like you said, not everyone can pull that look. Asian girls remind me of the anime characters. Some look cool as hell.

If I get a tattoo at age 13 will it stretch when I grow bigger?
Q. I'm looking to possibly get a tattoo covering all of my back right shoulder blade to remember the three most important women in my life who raised me since i was young because my mom wasn't there. But I'm afraid that when I grow (Probably about another 7 or 8 inches 6'4" 6'5") that the tattoo will stretch. I wont get fat no one in my family is at all overweight.

A. It does not matter how much you grow or weight you put on, no reputable tattoo place would even think about touching you to put a tattoo on you and risk being shut down for tattooing a minor.

What influences what physical traits an individual looks for in a partner? Specifically my own?
Q. As a man, I'm very attracted to a goth/punk/biker/rocker type woman; piercings, tattoos, short and dyed hair, denim and leather, etc.
I've always been educated and in the upper-middle class, never mingling with crowds like these.
However, what in us influences what we seek out physically in a partner?

A. It could be from media to personal experiences or even stereotypes.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though.

Sexually abused tattoo ideas???!?!?

Q. Ok so When i was 9 years old, i was sexually abused. Im currently seeing a therapist and I'm getting better. I want to get a tattoo that symbolizes that part of my life. To show that I'm a survivor. my problem is I don't know what tattoo I want to get. Do u have any creative ideas for a tattoo. I have an idea of just tattooing survivor but I want something to symbolize that. Oh and I'm 18.

A. teal is the awareness ribbon color, you could also get a kanji symbol for strength.

I was very close to getting an upside down panda on my shoulder blade
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1oxwkVkxK1rsd5qvo1_400.jpg

my father abused me when I was younger, and I fell into a depression from it, I battled depression for over 10 years, and it still comes back at times. The panda can symbolize depression and upside down is like turning yourself around from the depression.
I decided against it however, bc I wanted to move on from it all. Plus pandas are my favorite animals and I hate to think of them in a depressing way.

If you are religious, a simple teal cross with the word strength, or somethign might be a good idea.
If you want something intricate, Maybe a tree with a womans body as the trunk, with some blue leaves coming down or blowing in the wind.

a dove, with the awareness ribbon in its beak?,
example:

an infinity symbol with the ribbon like this but teal not pink

How about something that inspires you?

or a quote

give me life, give me pain, give me myself again

If you always watch the demons behind you, then you will never see the angels ahead.

If you’re going through hell, keep going.

Awareness ribbon with angel wings would look nice too

I was wondering what would be a sexy chest tattoo for a guy?

Q. I am getting a tattoo and i was wondering what chest tattoo would be sexy to a girl? I Have semi long black hair. I am a classic rocker and with punk style. I just put that so you guys know what i am like. Might help with the tattoo ideas. Thanks.
The girl i am with loves chest tattoos
I am skinny And tall

A. Pay some extra money. Get a good tattoo from a talented artist. Crappy tattoos aren't real sexy . But that said, I have to agree with Abracabu.. Your tattoo should mean something to you. This probably wouldn't happen, but for the sake of argument, let's that you got some beautiful piece of body art on your chest and a woman knew you got it, because you thought women might find it sexy. Most women would be very turned off by it. On the other hand, let's say that you got a less than perfect, amateurish, tattoo and it happened to have some deep meaning. For example: a cross with your Grandmother's initials or something, as tribute to your Grandmother who passed away. Women would most likely find that sexier, because it has significant personal meaning to you. Permanently marking your body to be cool or to be sexy, is not sexy.

What do you think of my tattoo idea?
Q. Okay, so I am getting ready to turn 16 and I'm getting my first tattoo. I have lots of ideas on different things I want to get. But I decided to get My Moms name tattooed on me first. I want to get a rose and her name directly after the rose on my inner upper arm. I would like to know what you think of this tattoo idea ? Do you see anything wrong with it? And I would also like to know what your first tattoo was if you don't mind sharing?

A. I do, I work in a shop and if your a guy then most women will be like who is that woman's name on your arm. i mean in the end its your choice, but I would never get any name on me, and honestly dont get your last name tattooed(its kind of like, do you have alheimers haha do you need to check it out before you fill out paper work or what).

What would be the best place to tattoo a Salinger´s quote "I never saw such a bunch of apple-eaters"?

Q. It would be my first tattoo and I was wandering what would be the best place to do it, I'm a woman 24, and I was thinking on my wrist. And in what font. If you post pictures it will be great!

A. I'd say inner left arm

Galasvador/Galasvadeth -> plant-eater -> galas - growth, plant
Galasben -> plant-somebody -> galas + pen - one, somebody; mut. ben
Dictionary: http://www.jrrvf.com/hisweloke/sindar/online/english.html (see A1 and A2)
Grammar: http://folk.uib.no/hnohf/sindarin.htm

Quenya (High-Elven):
Laimamatindo (masc.), Laimamatinde (fem.) -> plant-eater -> laima - plant + mat- - to eat + -indo/-inde - "doer" (person connected to the verbal action)
Laimamo (m.), Laimame (f.) -> plant-person -> laima + -mo/-me - person connected to the noun
Dictionaries:
http://folk.uib.no/hnohf/Quettaparma.pdf
http://www.ambar-eldaron.com/telechargements/quenya-engl-A4.pdf
Grammar: http://folk.uib.no/hnohf/quenya.htm

If you come up with any (better) ideas and aren't sure about the grammar or want to see them in Tengwar, or if you have any questions about this, feel free to send me a message.

When did women start wearing tattoos?

Q. My grandpa said that back in the 60's if a women had a tattoo, people will look at her funny. It was taboo. But now a days its not that big of a deal anymore, especially in big cities and more liberal areas like California. But when did this start? Anyone old enough to remember?

A. Tattoos suddenly became super popular in America around 1995 or 1996. Before then it was somewhat rare to see women with tattoos. I remember seeing a woman with an ankle tattoo in 1993 and remember thinking it was odd.

ETA:

I lived in New York City during the 1970s and 1980s and it was rare in those days for women to have tattoos. When I did see one they were small like a small flower on the ankle or wrist.

What can you tell about a woman who wears a flower tattoo on her upper right shoulder blade ?
Q. O.K. I recently had a falling out with a woman who always refered to me as her best friend. I caught her in tons of lies during our ,so-called, friendship and the rest of the time she just baffled me with her evasive personality and quirks. She had the most amazing flower tattoo (I think it was supposed to be an Iris or Orchid ) on her upper right shoulder blade.
I see in various magazines that alot of attention has been given to tattoos ,their art and body location and what they can tell about the person.
Any one have some thoughts on what I didn't know about my ex friend based on her tattoo ??
By the way I'm still crazy ,mad in love with her. I suppose my tattoo should be "Fool 4 love" across my forehead.

A. It means she likes flowers. And tattoos. Ta-da!!! Magic.

How painful is an ankle tattoo?

Q. I've only had one tattoo, and it's on my right upper back / shoulder blade area. It wasn't bad at all, kinda like a cat scratching me with a vibrating claw. I'd like to get a second tattoo, on the outer side of my right ankle, just about the ankle bone. Can someone tell me how much more painful that location will be, relative to the one I've already gotten? Thanks!

•Anyone with an autoimmune disorder needs to check with their doctor and should bring a note to be tattooed.

how much does a tattoo hurt?
Q. I'm planning on getting a black tattoo, about 2x1 inches, on the inside of my wrist, but I have a really low tolerance for pain. How bad would this hurt?
