Q. Other than the obvious (needle in the eye), what are the risks of getting a tattoo on the eyelid?
(For a character in a story, by the way. Myself, I'm scared of needles in the first place, so, yeah.)
@Boyba Power!: I disagree with the insecurity thing, but thank you for your answer about the safety.

A. I do a lot of cosmetic tattooing and do eyeliner tattooing all the time so graphic work on the eyelid is no big deal for those artists who know how to do it. The lid is very thin and swells very quickly so you have to get in and out. They will be sore and puffy and you will need to ice them down. They will be even puffier in the morning so you should sleep elevated since this is a LOT of lid work, not just an eyeliner tattoo. There is always a risk of infection. With a location like this, you have to be incredibly sure your artist is first rate and the studio is immaculate - be sure they take regular bloodborne pathogens classes and know how to work clean.
Expect touch ups there as well. I am personally not a fan of graphic work on the lids because to me, it distracts/detracts from the eyes and I am very much into enhancing eyes...both women and men. It is also hard to have conversations with people who have that because of the distraction of the tattooing, as with other facial tattooing. Unless you are very heavily modified, I would recommend this is thought through very well.

A. Everyone's different. Some women like ink on men, but it depends on the man, of course, and if there's a mutual attraction in the first place. My girl is a tattoo artist, as well, and she only has three small tattoos, where she can cover them if she wants. I have ninety-plus hours of ink, and she loves em on me. But it's a kind of strange thing, for most people. Usually one partner likes ink, while the other wears it. I've seen many couples like this. Usually one has a lot of work, the other none at all. That seems to be the case, male or female. And it's important to be in shape. But everyones different on opinions. Men that have a lot of experience with women, tend to like ink on women, more so than if not. Women, tend to like ink on men more so, but it's very important what kind. Shoddy work takes away from, eye poppin' skin art adds to. That goes for both genders. Take care.
