I just wanted some opinions since lower leg tattoos are not as popular on girls as on arms and a lot of people say it looks to manly, but I chose that location so it can easily be covered for work and be more subtle.

A. Well firstly Henna or mehendi is basically used for women (Hindu brides- that's how they came about) and well of recent women just started wearing them. Grooms are also known to wear it but that is just from India so in the west, i don't think men really wear it.

Some people disagree and have large, bold, blatant and inappropriate tattoos that I don't consider attractive. I also find that too many tattoos are boring in design, careless in execution and ultimately lackluster in appearance due to aging (both of the person and the tattoos).

The original filler of the Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty torch, and "Don't Tread on Me" shield and sword didn't quite fit in without the important features being blocked by stars. Plan B would be clouds as a filler; are cloud design mostly for women, men, or both?

A. Cloud tattoo's are more common for women, but there are enough men who have a cloud tattoo on them, mostly combined with something.

The big difference is that when a man gets a tattoo from a cloud, he wants it to be more rough (fatter lines, heavier shadows, those kind of things)

A. I had my tongue pierced when I was 16 but I went out and got wrecked and bit my tongue and cracked part of my tooth off! Bad move looking back. One of my mates used to have her clit pierced. I would never get that i would be too scared!

Tattoos I have two little ones close together at the bottom of my back. I have a butterfly that me and my mate both have and we got when we were 18. I also have my husbands name I got at 19.

My husband has a couple of tribal (one he designed himself), my name and Sunderland Football Club. They are all in black and I like that on a man like David Beckham yummy. He is getting our daughters name soon when we get more money.

We like watching Miami Ink thats a great programme and the people on it are brilliant tattooists.

A. It's an interesting question, but the truth is... it's a popular design that women like, more than anything else. Kinda like faries or dolphins. They're just pretty, and women go for that kinda stuff. It's kinda like guys having skulls and dragons. Those are popular masculine tattoos worn almost exclusivly by men. The television shows/soap operas would have you belive otherwise, but most people just get what they like. That's the real truth of it, in most cases. But because of TV shows, everyone is looking for 'hidden meaning'. Go figure.

Is getting a discrete tattoo really that unappealing on women?

The tattoo has a lot of significance to me and represents my family and how they are my backbone... it is a simple heart design.... my boyfriend thinks tattoos on girls are trashy... is he right? will i be seen as a trashy girl?

Did you know the most common tattoo put on by BOTH men & women in the world is the rose? So no I don't think its too "girly." Much will depend on style, colors, size & placement of the design. Too much color tends to look feminine on a guy.
