But the reality is that there are a number of devoutly Muslim ethnic/cultural groups for whom tattoos are traditional: for instance, the Bedouins, Berbers, and Maʻd�n (aka Marsh Arabs). These are not Western-style tattoos, but simple geometrical designs as talismans or to signify marital status and such like; and it's mostly women who have them.
