How do Koreans view women with tattoos?

Q. Hello,

I am an American woman with tattoos- a chest piece, a few on my back, one on my shoulder, and a little bow tattoos on my calves. My question is- How do Koreans feel about tattoos, and is this feeling different towards women with tattoos. I am not asking to be ignorant, but because I will be teaching there in a few months and want to know incase someone might see that I have tattoos.

Thank you for your help:)

A. "In Korea, drawing a tattoo on others is illegal, whether for profit or for free." Since it is illegal, some people think that only criminals have them. Having said this, I have a friend who is an English teacher in a public school with tattoos. She was asked to cover them. As long as she is a native English speaker, a good teacher, and has a BA, she can work as an English teacher in Korea.
Koreans know that in other cultures tattoos are not as taboo as they are here.

Where on a women is the most painful place to get a tattoo?
Q. I am planning on getting a tattoo on my right upper shoulder and the vine partially extending on my right arm.
How much pain do you think will it be?
I love getting shots and pain isn't really a problem with me.
But, it would be my first tattoo and I'm nervous.

A. I got a tattoo on my lower back and they kept hitting the nerve so that was a little painful. If your getting it on your upper shoulder, that should be not problem. I have one there too and there was very little pain with that one. If your good with shots, this should be a piece of cake! Hope it turns out nice!!
