What do you think of Mothers with tattoos?

Q. My father-in-law always is saying that it is not right for mothers to have tattoos. That what am I going to tell me kids when they ask me what the tattoo is?

I totally think he is wrong. Either way I just want to hear everybody opinion.

Thanks!

A. He clearly forgets that women aren't born as mothers ~ we may or may not become them.

When I first discussed getting a tattoo, some self-opinionated woman I didn't even know kept saying "Just imagine how terrible it will look when you're 50 and a grandma". I chose to ignore her as the image-driven idiot she clearly was.

I still intend to have at least two tattoos, which I am working on designing, as they have very personal meanings to me. And I would hope that the man I eventually end up with would be the sort to understand why I have them. As for being a mother with tattoos, I would be proud to explain the reasons to my kids, and anyone else who questions it ~ "I had them done for *me*. Being a mother is only part of my life story".

Is there something that symbolizes staying strong and persevering?
Q. Is there something that symbolizes something alone the lines of staying strong, persevering and getting back up when you fall? Or something that represents overcoming some hardships? I've been doing some research for a tattoo that I may like to get and came across the koi fish but I'm not really feeling it for a tattoo. I was also looking at some lotus flower tattoos. Another thing I came across was the phoenix-rise from the ashes.

If anyone else can give some inspiration it would be greatly appreciated.

A. If your looking for something from nature then your headed in the right direction. African cats (lions etc) are a great survival symbol. Or if you like the lotus flower maybe you could have it set in a desert background representing beauty and survival in a harsh climate? The lotus flower is definitely a favorite for women! lol Pretty flower. :) My sister in law mentioned something about roses having many different meanings according to their color and maturity the other day when I was giving her a rose tatt. :) You might do a little research on that? Good luck. If i have any epiphanies I will let you know. :) I like celtic symbolism but it sounds like thats not what your looking for.
