Can someone please answer a couple questions about tattoo please?

Q. So before people say anything, I'm not getting the tattoo until I am 18, which is in two months. I been wanting a tattoo for a few years now, even though my parents would kill me if they found out. Anyways I'm first going to show you the tattoo I want so that you can answer my questions.
http://www.tattoobite.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/women-butterfly-tiger-tattoos-designs.jpg
Okay so the first question would be how much money should that cost?
The next one is can the tattoo artist make it just like that, because I have seen other images and I don't like them like I like that one because it looks realistic.
Also, I want to put it on my lower back center. Is that a good spot, and how is that area for tattooing when it comes to pain?
(I don't want the flowers around the butterfly, I just want the Tiger Butterfly).
Thanks for answering my questions. (:
Actually I do want the flowers there I'm just not sure about it because if you look at the picture, the girl's tattoo is slanted and i want mine going straight across my lower back (horizontally). So if you think it would look good going straight across from the wings (one side of the wings to the other) let me know cause I would do that, instead of it going slanted vertically.

A. Without color & light shading at the shop I go to that would be around $150-200, price usually depends on the shop & quality of the artist's work. I can't give a price for color because I have black ink.

The lower back is a large area & shading hurts like a mother. Areas with little fat, or are bone-y like your feet, knees, wrist, etc. usually hurt more than other places. Some people say the opposite, I guess it depends on you.

Like you, I thought over the idea of getting a tattoo for years, to me the pain was worth it.

A talented tattoo artist can make that easily, they can alter it too if you want to make it unique.

Where could I place my tattoo quote?
Q. Hello,
I was just wondering where people would believe the following tattoo quote would look good, but please bare in mind I need to hide this due to the profession I would like to go into in the future.

The tattoo quote is: The value of life does not depend on the amount of time on this earth, but on the amount of time shared by those we love and care about.

So any suggestions for my placement would be very useful for me to consider before going to have my tattoo done.

Thanks for any answers.xox
Sorry just to clarify I am a female

A. That's a long quote that'll take up a pretty big chunk of space. Most kinds of script need the letters to be at least 1-1.5 cm high for them not to become illegible when they age. You have a little over 100 letters in that quote, plus spaces. Unless you have it going right down your back or leg or wrapping around somewhere, it's going to need to be broken up into a few lines.

I personally think script looks best when it's done on a curve and fitted to the shape of the body. Compare these:

http://www.monasaha.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Cool-Lettering-Tattoos-Fonts-Design.jpg
http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/214/9/a/lettering_tattoo_by_fil_nachard-d59m5vq.jpg

to this:

http://glambistro.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Quote-Women-Tattoo-Lettering.jpg

The first two flow much more nicely. Your body isn't a flat sheet or paper, it has curves and it moves and it'll change.

I'd say on your chest or curving around your sides could work well, or tapering down your thigh or back. Your best bet would be to go to a good artist and ask what they think. Something that size won't just be a matter of "I want it here", it'll be a matter of "where can we fit this?"

Good Tattoo for 18th birthday?

Q. im thinking of getting this tattoo for my birthday. What do you think?

http://www.google.com/imgres?start=384&um=1&sa=N&hl=en&biw=1024&bih=466&tbm=isch&tbnid=2AKeIV4QMUUodM:&imgrefurl=http://www.tattooideaspictures.com/bird-tattoo-designs-for-men-and-women/&docid=fO0GIDkFJzRl_M&imgurl=http://www.tattooideaspictures.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/bird-tattoo-designs-for-girls-224x300.jpg&w=224&h=300&ei=yzf3UZafGI2a8wST74HwDw&zoom=1&ved=1t:3588,r:85,s:300,i:259&iact=rc&page=25&tbnh=200&tbnw=145&ndsp=12&tx=73&ty=86

A. Sorry the link does not work. If it is your first time get something small and simple, everybody reacts to the process differently. While some states people at age 16 get it with parents permission, and like getting tattooed then go for something you always wanted if you can sit for a awhile in the chair.

Do you think this could work as a tattoo idea?
Q. I want to get a tattoo for both sets of grandparents, and I want it to be one tattoo, not two, to show that they are one and not seperated. For one side, I want to get a sled, for all of the times in their backyard. For the other, a bar stool--they owned and lived over a bar. I want flowers surrounding/as the backdrop. Do you think an artist could find a way to make these two things that don't go together GO TOGETHER in one cohesive piece? I think if they could pull it off it would really be awesome.

A. Many women choose the rainbow toned butterfly. The colors can be placed in many different hues. They can be done in two color sets, three, four, and five or higher. A popular choice is purple, violet, green, light blue, pink, and yellow. If your tattoo artist is good, this tattoo looks great on the skin. The sizes can vary, but I would prefer 3inch by 3inch design. But, the ending choice is yours. They don't look right with 5 colors that small, but two will work for those of you that prefer a smaller tattoo.

What's the meaning of this tattoo?

Q. http://www.tattooeasily.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Maori-Tattoo-designs-23.jpg
It's a Maori tattoo I found on the Internet, and I was wondering if you know the meaning of it, since most of those tattoos have one .. Thanks in advance :)

A. The Maori use tattoo to tell the world they have reached adulthood. Getting their faces tattooed was a right of passage that told the world "I'm an ADULT!" The design itself is a shorthand for the family geneology and often would tell rank. Women would get lip and chin tattoos while men would get full face tattoos.

It's best to be respectful if you choose one of these designs, however, as inappropriate placement like as a tramp stamp can be seen as offensive to the Maori. The design you posted is not a real Maori design. In fact, it can be seen as an offensive derivative due to it's positioning.

Didn't Obama say Insurance Premiums would NOT rise because of Obamacare?
Q. Sebelius: Some Could See Insurance Premiums Rise

Some people purchasing new insurance policies for themselves this fall could see premiums rise because of requirements in the health-care law, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told reporters Tuesday.

Ms. Sebeliuss remarks come weeks before insurers are expected to begin releasing rates for plans that start on Jan. 1, 2014, when key provisions of the health law kick in. Premiums have been a sensitive subject for the Obama administration, which is counting on elements in the health law designed to increase competition among insurers to keep rates in check. The administration has pointed to subsidies that will be available for many lower-income Americans to help them with the cost of coverage.

The secretarys remarks are among the first direct statements from federal officials that people who have skimpy health plans right now could face higher premiums for plans that are more generous. She noted that the law requires plans to provide better benefits and treat all customers equally regardless of their medical claims.

These folks will be moving into a really fully insured product for the first time, and so there may be a higher cost associated with getting into that market, she said. But we feel pretty strongly that with subsidies available to a lot of that population that they are really going to see much better benefit for the money that theyre spending.

Ms. Sebelius added that those customers currently pay more for their health care if their plans have high out-of-pocket costs, high deductibles or exclude particular types of coverage, such as mental health treatment. She also said that some men and younger customers could see their rates increase while women and older customers could see their rates drop because the law restricts insurers ability to set rates based on age and gender.

Most people who buy their own insurance policies will begin doing so this fall through new online marketplaces, which federal officials believe will force insurers to keep their prices down.

As a former insurance commissioner I have watched what transparency does to a market, Ms. Sebelius said. This is the first time ever in the history of the United States that insurance companies have to file their rates, it has to be very transparent, they have to offer the same kind of coverage without 5,000 tiny little lines and internal caps, and they have to compete for customers. And I am a believer in the market strategies that in and of itself will minimize the rate impact.

As The Wall Street Journal reported last week, some insurers have already begun signaling they could dramatically increase prices for people buying policies in the individual market to compensate for restrictions on how they treat consumers, as well as new fees and requirements that they provide bigger benefits packages.

The Society of Actuaries, a nonpartisan professional association, has issued a new report warning that the cost of medical claims in the new individual-insurance market could rise by an average of 32% per person over the first few years the law is in place, as more people with higher medical needs get coverage, and that the impact will be very different depending on the state. Medical bills are another key factor in determining premiums.

Dave87gn - I won't insult your intelligence by suggesting that you really believe what you just said.
Douglas S - Somewhere out there is a tree, tirelessly producing oxygen so you can breathe. I think you owe it an apology.

A. the bottom line is quite scary. Those that have chose not to have health care will make any excuse to get Obamacare passed. They do not care who it hurts or who it effects. I know so many people that own houses, have new cars and go on vacations and say they have no money for health care. Yet, those of us who have sacrificed, and paid our health care costs all along are the ones that are being punished by having OUR health care costs inflated to pay for those that don't feel like paying for health care but got a brand new tattoo........welfare is there for those that need help we did not need another program that will help the non workers and punish the workers again. Then again, Obama hates those that work hard, we did not build that, he did, his government did and we are the ones that will pay for it, while he attends another basketball game or golf game. UGGGGG.

How many hours would this tattoo take?

Q. I would like to know about how many hours it would take to tattoo the word 'wonderland' (in this type of font: http://25.media.tumblr.com/b902ee0361da2e86b9cf8c7ffb018551/tumblr_mhwseiL2Jo1rv8v63o1_500.jpg) underneath my collar bone (similar to this:http://favim.com/mini/201106/25/collarbone-girl-ink-redemption-tattoo-woman-82761.jpg) but extending to my shoulder where there would be a black flower outline (like this: http://cute-tattoo.com/files/2013/01/4110016.jpg) around the end of the word. The flower would be much smaller than the one in the picture about 3x3 inches

A. All put together it would take about 5 hours, not even that! They're all simple and easy designs, there's not a lot of details so it won't take long to do.

Ms. Sebelius’s remarks come weeks before insurers are expected to begin releasing rates for plans that start on Jan.

The secretary’s remarks are among the first direct statements from federal officials that people who have skimpy health plans right now could face higher premiums for plans that are more generous. She noted that the law requires plans to provide better benefits and treat all customers equally regardless of their medical claims.

“These folks will be moving into a really fully insured product for the first time, and so there may be a higher cost associated with getting into that market,” she said. “But we feel pretty strongly that with subsidies available to a lot of that population that they are really going to see much better benefit for the money that they’re spending.”

Ms. Sebelius added that those customers currently pay more for their health care if their plans have high out-of-pocket costs, high deductibles or exclude particular types of coverage, such as mental health treatment. She also said that some men and younger customers could see their rates increase while women and older customers could see their rates drop because the law restricts insurers’ ability to set rates based on age and gender.

Most people who buy their own insurance policies will begin doing so this fall through new online marketplaces, which federal officials believe will force insurers to keep their prices down.

“As a former insurance commissioner I have watched what transparency does to a market,” Ms. Sebelius said. “This is the first time ever in the history of the United States that insurance companies have to file their rates, it has to be very transparent, they have to offer the same kind of coverage without 5,000 tiny little lines and internal caps, and they have to compete for customers. And I am a believer in the market strategies that in and of itself will minimize the rate impact.”

A. the bottom line is quite scary.
